Subject: BS: Good news for Elmore From: Elmore Date: 15 Apr 14 - 03:39 PM This may be classified as "too much information," but my new urologist phoned today to inform me that my NINTH prostate biopsy (in 10 years) came back negative like all the others. Good news, but sometimes I wish the damn doctors would leave me alone. |

Subject: RE: BS: Good news for Elmore From: frogprince Date: 15 Apr 14 - 04:32 PM Elmore, why the decision for all the frequent repetitions? Very high PSA? Severe enlargement? I've been on Flomax for some years, with PSA up a bit, but haven't had a doc show any real inclination to do a biopsy yet. |
Subject: RE: BS: Good news for Elmore From: gnu Date: 15 Apr 14 - 04:41 PM Drink lots of pomegranate juice and masturbate regularly. Yes, the second part might be 'better' if you have help but that's another story. As for all the biopsies, I also wonder why. |
Subject: RE: BS: Good news for Elmore From: Elmore Date: 15 Apr 14 - 05:00 PM Frogprince: My PSA number averages 70 something. When I lived in Massachusetts the highly esteemed Boston doctor who did my seventh and eighth biopsies decided enough was enough. No more PSA's. Then we moved south, and my new doctors started messing with me again. Gnu: pomegranate juice and Gray Goose? |
Subject: RE: BS: Good news for Elmore From: gnu Date: 15 Apr 14 - 05:29 PM Had to look up 'Gray Goose'. My doc would not recommend it, I expect. As for the pomegranate juice, that's his top choice. I tried it and I can't drink it as it's toooooooo sweet. He suggested apple juice (mild... low acid) as a possible substitute but to try to choke down the vile stuff if possible. It's ten times the cost but he says it's worth it. I also asked him about "Super Prostate" vitamins sold at Costco. Brought in a bottle for him to look at. He took one look at the ingredients and said, "Yup. Good stuff." Then, there is pumpkin seed oil. Known to reduce prostate cancer growth. But ya gotta choke down 3 tablespoons per day. Nuh-uh! Not only is that very expensive on accounta the stuff here comes from France but it'll make ya shotgun s*** at midnight, 2AM, 4AM and...... sorry for the graphics. Lots of info here... http://www.prostatecancer.ca/ |
Subject: RE: BS: Good news for Elmore From: Elmore Date: 15 Apr 14 - 07:00 PM Actually, it's Grey Goose, and no doctor would recommend it, but they might drink it. I have a pill for BPH which may be the cause of the ridiculous PSA number. (not the pill, the enlarged prostate) It occurs to me that I might be whining. Hell, I get up every morning, feeling pretty good for age 73, while many of my friends and acquaintances have checked out. |
Subject: RE: BS: Good news for Elmore From: Big Al Whittle Date: 16 Apr 14 - 06:38 PM take care mate. could you fry your eggs in the pumpkin seed oil... |
Subject: RE: BS: Good news for Elmore From: GUEST Date: 16 Apr 14 - 06:46 PM "Pumpkin seed oil reaches its smoke point at 120°C (248°F)" Elmore, good for you, but watch it with Al's "fry your eggs in the pumpkin seed oil" advice. Just a word to the wise. |
Subject: RE: BS: Good news for Elmore From: GUEST Date: 16 Apr 14 - 06:49 PM Just read elsewhere on the www that pumpkin seed oil is NOT suitable for frying. Another word to the wise. |
Subject: RE: BS: Good news for Elmore From: Elmore Date: 16 Apr 14 - 08:15 PM Okay. I'm off to the pharmacy to purchase a gallon of pumpkin seed oil. Thanks to everyone. |
