BS: Shatner NOT greatest actor of all time |

Subject: BS: Shatner NOT greatest actor of all time From: gnu Date: 19 Apr 14 - 01:09 PM A hard fought battle just moments ago on the CBC Radio programme "The Debaters" has been won by the against and this was in extended format. Whereas the show usually carries two debates per episode, the entire episode was devoted to William Shatner, and justly so. One can download full episodes of the programme on (from?) iTunes or something like that and somewhere else, I think. I download The Irrelevant Show and Laugh Out Loud right on the programme link if I miss them but that won't work for me for The Debaters. You can hear a clip or two from various The Debaters shows and it would be well worth it if yer technologically declined like me. Today's show was a gut-buster. I needed a tissue twice. The silliness was at an elevated level. I had doubts when I heard Sean Cullen would be debating as he can be so 'wired and weird' that his comedy, IMO, requires substance abuse but he was a hoot and a half today and he was arguing for. His opponent was brilliant. If you missed it on Radio 1, it might be on 2 later (?). Well worth the effort. I hope Shatner heard it. Laugh long and prosper. |

Subject: RE: BS: Shatner NOT greatest actor of all time From: gnu Date: 19 Apr 14 - 02:18 PM Yes, but only at half-passed during the CBC Radio news update. Rumour has it that Gordon Pinsent will issue a statement soon while Gordon Lightfoot sings his new song in the background. The new song is a rap version of Shatner's "I AM Canadian" for which all proceeds will go to The Canadian Actor's Guild for Diction. The new song is entitled, "A Dick Dick Diction Eh?". |

Subject: RE: BS: Shatner NOT greatest actor of all time From: GUEST,Musket Date: 20 Apr 14 - 03:07 AM Shh. Don't say that! Laurence Olivier on his death bed eventually had to come to terms with the fact that he is. He watched an episode of Star Trek and recognised the master when he saw it. Same as Christopher Tolkien knowing his father's legacy was safe when Leonard Nimoy sang "Bilbo Baggins." |

I was a regular fan of Shatner's Start Trek - but like Topsy, "I growed". Quite partial to Captain Janeway - and that Seven mmmmmm!! Jim Carroll |

Subject: RE: BS: Shatner NOT greatest actor of all time From: GUEST Date: 20 Apr 14 - 08:46 AM It behooves me to say, alas, that there is a germ of truth in the thread title. When one considers the thespian abilities of Pee-wee Herman, well, to whom the crown belongs is less than clear. |
