Subject: Online Phone Directories From: Joe Offer Date: 27 May 14 - 02:12 AM It used to be easy to look up somebody's phone number online and call them, but now it's getting harder and harder to get a phone number without paying for it. I used to use 411.com and switchboard.com to get U.S. phone numbers, and almost always found the person I was seeking. Now, these services take a minute or more to pretend to search for the number, and then want to charge me for it. Anybody know of good, free services for finding phone numbers? -Joe- |

I tried the "find a person" option at http://www.yellowpages.com/ and was able to find myself without jumping through any hoops. Guess I'll use http://www.yellowpages.com/ until they put up hoops like the other ones have. -Joe- |
Subject: RE: BS/tech: Online Phone Directories From: frogprince Date: 27 May 14 - 09:20 PM Joe, did you try to test whitepages.com with your own number? I've used it quite a bit, and never signed up. I just went there, looked up a friend with no problem, and hit "sign in" to see what happened. It looks to me like the only need to sign in is if you want to make settings to control the accessibility of your own number to others. Dean |

Perhaps, it is best you remove my post after you experiment. Inmates have little time and resources it would be sad if the link dried up from excess UK sponges.
