I doubt squirrels had anything to do with it. I suspect the Spiegel Beagle. Beagle... latin for "dumb as a post". Eat, lick, sleep, repeat. Oh, yeah they are cute and lovable but they don't mellow out until about 4 years old. I had one when I was a lad. Duke (after Jed Clampett's hound). Hunt rabbits for two hours and Beagle for three hours. AND, every trip in warm weather, Duke would head for the cowfield first thing so's he could roll in fresh cowshit. He was a "stealth" beagle.
