Tattie Bogle's story reminds me. I recently did some work where I was given an office for when I needed it. I was pleasantly surprised to have one, as they didn't need to really. The offices had inventory numbers for estates purposes and the reason why the office was empty was that it was always the last one to be claimed.

Room 101.

Presumably used normally to drop a hint to an over promoted director. Hence free for outsiders to use..

Well if you're ever in Dublin and book to stay in the Parliament Hotel, just ask for Room 101 - it is absolutely MASSIVE! We were there a few years back with daughter, son-in-law, son and ourselves, and booked 2 ordinary rooms, but D + S-I-L got room 101.
Apart from a king-size bed it had a conference table and numerous chairs around it. Our son was supposed to be in our room, but went out on the razz in his tatty jeans, forgot his room key, and therefore very nearly failed to get into the hotel again late night. Only when son-in-law went down to plead with night porter to let the toe-rag in, and he spent the night on the floor of Room 101!

My icons are from the Special Character palette which I get from scrolling down to the bottom of "Edit" in the header menu.

-Mac OS X version 10.6.8-, it sez here on the -About This Mac- popup. My browsers are Safari & Firefox. I am always on the latter when I access the Cat.

I still use Opera as a browser by choice..(for various reasons of internal navigation).. but only earlier versions which no longer support new ...ummm... 'advances'. This, I use Mozilla & its clones when I need to do certain stuff.... and I like PaleMoon because I can control what it does, and it doesn't demand I update every 15 minutes like Firefox does.


And I haven't needed to wash MY hands from an IE use for 7-8 years.

I can now even see the little icony buggers in full colour...

just opened up Internet Explorer 11, which I never touch,
as I've been exclusively using Chrome as my browser
since it's earliest release....

and yes, I can now see all those emoticons on my PC.

Any way I can make the emoticons visible in Chrome ?

Don't want to miss out on all these modern low attention span teen oriented visual bells 'n' whistles...

Odd. Using Safari, Chrome or Firefox on a Mac, I can see them. Fire it up in Win7 (got Bootcamp) and in Explorer I can't see them but in Firefox and Chrome I can.

I think the way forward is to rely on erudite wit rather than dumbing down for the benefit of the old folk.

Shut up Musket old son.. Whether it be emoticons, squares or text, its all folk music.

Just checked out this thread on my Nokia Lumia 920 Windows phone
and can now see all of of your emoticons....

How come I can only see MGM·Lion's emoticons in Chrome on Win 7 ???


Trouble is the mobile phone's screen is too small for me to comfortably read things
with my poor close up eyesight..


...so maybe it's true.. too many flesh tones do make you go blind...

as a modern washing machine on low spin cycle...

I've even got a colour monitor... flesh tones are soooo real.....

If you were all rich and famous, you'd see the emoticons... You just put a man and woman, a woman and woman and a man and a man. A bit like I did. I suppose the common link for me is that I use Safari in all my browsers? The emoticons form part of the new iOS8 keyboard for the iPhone and iPad.

Baffling rectangles arent so much a style as a statement. I only see them in Mike's posts.

Dunno Mike. I use Apple. (iPhone. iPad and iMac.) Not too sure about the other two musketeers but this one, Ian, can see the emoticons. One or two on Mudcat have asked how you easily do the emoticons, so some can see them.

I like to use pictures in an attempt to be inclusive. You have to dumb down for imbeciles.

If you get a semi, look for a colon. Especially if you have an arse fixation.
