Sad state of affairs when arguing AGAINST mass murder, rampant lawlessness, and child kidnapping upsets the status quo.

Many guests post under regular names and don't try to be several persons... and some of the naughty ones no doubt hide their identities in ways that are harder to trace.

That deletion was simply a long repost... the original is still up there.

How come THIS was deleted????

Subject: RE: BS: Elections: Tues. Nov. 4th
From: GUEST,Why I didn't vote this time
Date: 09 Nov 14 - 10:44 PM

I reiterate.................

I've been given a choice--Democrat or Republican--and I can't vote for either party. Especially when I know the following three things:

1) Most laws the government passes are illegal. The Supreme Court decided over 200 years ago in Marbury vs. Madison that any law which violates the constitution is void upon its passage. The same goes for court decisions--if they violate the constitution they are void upon their issuance. If I know that, why don't our politicians? Short answer, they do. I can't vote for people who would knowingly violate the constitution in defiance of Marbury vs. Madison.

2) September 11. Six of the ten members of the Kean Commission refused to sign their report after they "investigated" the events of 9/11. The report was a cover-up. And according to law, if you take part in a crime after its commission (like through a cover-up), then you are guilty of that crime. Therefore, the U.S. government is guilty of the 9/11 attacks. And everyone in Washington knows it. How can I vote for people who took part in the 9/11 attacks?

3) Disappearing children. 47,000 children disappeared at the U.S./Mexican border in 2013-2014. Why doesn't the government investigate that? Plenty of media attention is given to the shooting of one young man in Missouri, but the media can't look into the disappearance of 47,000? What happened to the children? Are they working in sweatshops? Sex slaves? Human sacrifices? Again, if I know about this situation, then so do the people in government. And failure to pursue the issue makes them responsible for each individual disappearance.

So instead of voting this time around I'm writing this. I'm telling you, we have a criminal government. Our politicians (all of them) knowingly vote for illegal laws, cover up the crimes of September 11, and refuse to pursue possible human slave traffickers. I can't endorse any of that with a vote, and all I can think to do is publicly condemn the criminals who want me to approve of their actions.

Yo Vote!

From Andy Borowitz

Exit polls involving election non-participants took place as they left malls, nail salons, gyms, and other locations where no voting occurred on Tuesday.

"The system is broken," said Carol Foyler, thirty-one, a democracy abstainer from Akron, Ohio. "We need to come up with some way that ordinary citizens can make their voices heard and have some impact on who is running things in Washington."

The economy, jobs, and terrorism topped the list of worries that are preying on the minds of the non-voting electorate.

"I find it difficult to sleep at night worrying about the kind of country we are leaving to our children and our children's children," said Mark Gardziak, forty-seven, who spent Election Day shopping for a phone.

While pessimism about the future dominated the comments of the sixty-three per cent of American voters who elected not to exercise their democratic rights on Tuesday, some expressed a glimmer of hope.

"The one way things could get better is if we all get together and throw out the crooked politicians," offered Tess Shardin, thirty-eight, who said she was unlikely to vote in 2016.

"...as I've posted so many times that my keys are getting worn out from repeating it...the corruption is on BOTH sides!"

And as I have said so many times, there is usually a basic difference in kind between Repub. & Dem. bills. Holding your nose and allowing a bill with stuff you don't like in order to pass something you consider important is not 'corruption'.
Calling everything and everyone in politics 'corrupt' is a cynical/lazy way of not bothering to sort thru to the basic differences.

Does anyone remember to phrase "the loyal opposition"? There used to be a basic system of compromise when work had to get done, but that was before Karl Rove convinced the Republicans that if they were patient and followed his plan, they would eventually stack the deck so that they were always & forever in control! Gerrymander... limit voting of those who vote against you... stack the court system... buy & control as much media as possible... fill Congress with idiots, as long as they vote the **right** way, and tell ANY lie & distortion until you yourself begin to believe it.

I think it is fair to say that Reid has been a firewall for Obama. He blocks bills sent up from the House and kills any chance for them being even brought up for debate...that being said, the Republicans aren't much better.
One bill that Reid did NOT suppress, was the budget, that included a waiver, protecting Monsanto from being liable for any damages from GMO's......speaking of pork laden riders....which Bill D seemed to blame only the Republicans...even though that bill was NOT submitted by the GOP..but by Democrats.
Bottom line, as I've posted so many times that my keys are getting worn out from repeating it...the corruption is on BOTH sides!..and neither of the two main parties are representing the PEOPLE, as much as they cater to their 'special interests' banking and corporate buddies.
I have NO party affiliation...so I don't give a rat's ass about pointing fingers across the aisle..because for me, there is NO aisle...just a lot of corruption for special interests, with 'cover stories', to pretend that they're really 'working for us'....

'Right-wing and left-wing are on the same bird'..and 'I'm NOT with the party...I'm with the band!'

..and BTW, my track record on being correct, and calling it, BEFORE it even happens, should be quite evident by now!

But the 'so-called wannabes' only seem to be able to resort to name-calling....especially when they are at wits end to substantiate their facade of political nonsense!!

Just take a look around!

GfS

P.S...and as far as the 'elections' go... the GOP didn't even have a platform....other than a 'repudiation' of the Obama Administration....I guess they were getting impatient to be the next pigs at the trough!

Do note that the Wash Post article was to this:

"Jennifer Rubin writes the Right Turn blog for The Post, offering reported opinion from a conservative perspective"

Whether you like or do not like Democrats and/or Harry Reid, it is the case that most House bills Reid did not bring up were so loaded with far-right stuff that they never would have passed in the Senate.
No one seems to mention it when Boehner used similar tactics in the House.

And at least *50* of those bills were attempts to repeal 'Obamacare'... and many others were of similar ilk.

The Republicans have made a game of "obstruct everything" then criticize Obama for 'getting nothing done'. It's transparent to everyone who does not depend on Fox News for their daily transfusion digest of happenings.

Are these bills "sitting on Harry Reid's desk awaiting action"?

"Resolving this claim is murkier.
First, a technical problem. It's an oversimplification to say that these bills are "sitting on Harry Reid's desk." Many have been assigned to committees, where they would need to be approved before being taken up on the floor. While Reid has influence over what committee chairs do, a chair can -- using their own powers -- decide to either fast-track or stall a bill coming over from the House.

"Another complication: In at least some cases, the Senate is working on a bill on the same topic, but without using the House bill as a starting point. "The disposition of a House bill is not particularly relevant to measuring Senate legislative activity," said Steven Smith, political scientist and Senate specialist at Washington University in St. Louis.

"We should also note that in the Senate, one member -- either from the majority or the minority -- can stop a bill in its tracks by threatening to filibuster -- a delay that requires 60 votes to break. Reasonable people can disagree about whether Reid or Senate Republicans are the biggest offenders -- we previously addressed some of those issues -- but the experts we checked with said both parties share at least some of the blame."

And so forth. Including this line:

"...the second category of "show" bills includes dozens of full or partial repeals of the Affordable Care Act passed by the Republican House.

I posted, in reply, "For what it's worth....the House of Representatives has passed and submitted 386 bills to the Democratic Senate, in which Harry Reid, the Senate majority leader, kept them from being voted on, by the Senate...so Obama wouldn't have to deal with them, or even take a vote in the Senate, to submit them to Obama, for him to approve OR veto!

Thank all for not personally attacking me.
There are racisits. There will probably allways will be racists but i believe it is a generational thing. The younger the generation the less racisim there is amongst them.
My concern is that some people "infect" the younger generation with their racial bias. It "rubs off" from the parents to the child. People are not born racists but they are influenced by their parents and their environment. If people would ignore and "freeze out" the racists, racisim will eventually be reduced to a minimum. However there are people who "feed" off of racisim. They perpetuate it. They are constantly, if inadvertantly, pointing it out as if it is some new crisis we must deal with. This is detrimental to all races. Anyone who practices racisim must recognize it and endeavor to avoid practicing it and avoid imposing their racist views on others.
I was raised amongst a gereration of Jew haters. I recognized the racial bias caused by the atmosphere during their early years before ww2 when even Henry Ford had a newspaper fomenting hatred against Jewish people.
I believe there are people that benefit from bringing up racisim and perpetuating it in order to elevate themselves. This is preventing other people of all races to evolve and rise above being a racist. I do not support these people. I belive they should be ignored and told they are creating more racisim than they are prevnting.

Bill Bryson tends to write for a UK audience, and his take on his native USA can be quite interesting....

He said there is a huge difference between the north and south. (Very general, very stereotyping..)

In the south, racism is normalised but black and white live next to each other.

In the north, racism is abhorred but black and white live in different districts.

I used to spend about three months a year living in The USA, various places, and to be honest, racism didn't seem any better or worse than over here from a daya to day perspective. The rich v poor was far more evident, and yes, a majority of blacks are poor and the majority of the rich are white. Prison population statistics are telling mind....

Lots of factors involved in the election results. Racism certainly one factor, but not the only one. I am a bit dismayed, among the USA folks, none of whom, I think, are from the south, to see that the racism factor is attributed only to the south. Racism in the south is more overt but no more pervasive or extensive. It is simply more covert than overt in other parts of the country. Look at the rural/urban divide. Easy to assume that divide is about racism also, but I think one would be wrong in assuming that. Regardless of race, rural areas tend to be more conservative than urban areas, at least based on the dictionary definition. I think it likely one would find that rural Black populations are much more likely to be opposed to same sex marriage than are urban Black populations. Just for example.

The only map I have really studied is the North Carolina map, and so far, only the US Senate race. The urban population centers of NC voted for Kay Hagan by a narrow margin. The rural areas voted for Tillis by a slim margin. (pretty close to the same statistics with respect the the marriage constitutional amendment that passed 2 years ago.) Looking at a national map that simply shows which states went red and which went blue, it seems the same holds true. I don't think that means that people who live in urban areas are smarter and people who live in rural areas are dumber. I think it means it is easier (or less difficult and resource intensive) to "get out the vote" in urban areas, even among people with who otherwise feel disenfranchised. Plus, I think people in rural areas in general are devalued, and among the disenfranchised.

Dumbfuck, ignorant hicks, regardless of race, who don't know any better. Eh?

Progressives - as with all things personal or otherwise - what we have the capacity to change is our own thoughts, feelings and behaviors. Rather than blaming others, focus on what each of us can do to be more effective.

Thanks, Don... saved me the trouble of explaining it.

Also Chester, I don't know about you, but I have been in the southern US, combating racism. I have seen first hand how racist **some** people can be.

Ake, I doubt you have seen it... and the 'flavor', I'd imagine is a bit different from the forms it takes in Scotland. Racists came in as many varieties as liberals or Christians or those opposed to homosexual behavior... which is why Don & I say 'some' or 'many'.

Both of you - read up on Alan West to see what kind of Black man gets elected by certain racists.

Chester, get with the program. I wasn't calling anyone an "Uncle Tom," and I don't think in those terms myself. Bill and I were pointing out how a lot of white Southerners look at blacks and why they might vote for a black candidate over a white one who does not share their viewpoint on other political issues.

You are exhibiting a knee-jerk reaction to a term without thinking about the whole context in which the term was used.

By the way, there are thought police out there who object to the term "coloured people" as a racist expression.

And as to personal ad hominem attacks, it is you who are accusing Bill and me of being "racist bigots" when we are anything but!

Tim Scott's election proves that the GOP is a diverse and inclusive party and that racism is dead, even in the deep south. Yeah, right and I've got some ocean front property in Arizona you might be interested in.

"They elected him because he was not a Democrat! Many of them can be dripping racism in their everyday actions and still prefer a black man who votes most of their interests! Ask them if they'd let their daughter marry him...."

This is a racist statement. It is a baseless projection of racism on ther people. An unfounded accusation. Such statements are what keeps racisim "alive". People who make such statements want to keep racisim "alive". It serves some purpose in their life as if they could not live without someone they can call a racist. Calling someone an "Uncle Tom" is also a racist term used by flaming biggots.
No doubt i will be subject to ritual defamation with ad hominem personal attacks for stating such an obvious truth.

Substitute Republican for Democrat in the statement and see if that is applicable.

Richard Bridge: "The lunatics have taken over the asylum. I just don't understand how ANYBODY can fall for the idiotic Republican claptrap and obstructionism. It demonstrates such total stupidity."

For what it's worth....the House of Representatives has passed and submitted 386 bills to the Democratic Senate, in which Harry Reid, the Senate majority leader, kept them from being voted on, by the Senate...so Obama wouldn't have to deal with them, or even take a vote in the Senate, to submit them to Obama, for him to approve OR veto!
...speaking of 'obstructionism.'

True story.

The results came as no surprise and I think most folks knew it would be this way. Obama still has a veto, so as Dan pointed out, Here's the new boss, same as the old boss.

Ake, Bill is right.

Southern white racists would vote for a black man if they felt sure he was an "Uncle Tom" and would do what he's told to do.

I don't believe that Bill, and what I said is not "silly", a racist would never vote in such a way....even if it was in his political interests to do so.

I'm disappointed in your attitude. Perhaps you are not as even handed as you like to portray yourself?

No sweat. Characteristically, mid-term elections tend to go against the party of the incumbent president. It gives the "out," but now "in" party an opportunity to show the country how good they are at screwing up....

Locally, things went reasonably well where I live (Washington State). Several issues that needed passing got passed. School funding for smaller classrooms and required background checks before purchasing a firearm--plus the good guys getting reelected in most cases. Two Democratic Senators, both women (Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell) and a Dem. representative in my legislative district (Jim McDermott).

The climate and the sea breezes here in the Great Northwest tend to keep people around here bright-eyed and clear-headed....

Silly? No, just thick. Don't forget this is the man who claims to be a member of a political party who in government introduced gay marriage, so surely Akenaton can't be a homophobic bigot?

You just have to follow his logic to see it. It is simple. Flawed of course and borne of ignorance and bigotry, but easy enough to see through.

The little people are never complicated.

"Bill, the people of South Carolina elected a BLACK man, no matter how "right wing" he may be, they cannot be RACIST."

That is one of the silliest things I ever heard! They elected him because he was not a Democrat! Many of them can be dripping racism in their everyday actions and still prefer a black man who votes most of their interests! Ask them if they'd let their daughter marry him....

"Guest Why...
Appreciate your concerns. But your response accomplishes exactly nothing.
Nothing."

I actually found this Guest post interesting and wondered if any of it were true. There are a large number of posts not worthy of more than a glance at the "From". It really is a shame that some people with nothing to say, say so much and mess up what might have been an interesting thread in general. Reminds me of my partner's bro who talks non-stop with nothing to say.

I think that dems were so disapointed in the people they voted for that they did not want to vote democratic again. They did not want to vote for repulicans so they didnt vote at all. There was no waiting line at all where i voted.
