Subject: BS: Bernie Sanders for USA President
From: Ebbie

I have admired US Senator Bernie Sanders for years. Clear-headed and progressive in his views he has the mettle to be a real statesman in the mold of Adlai Stevenson, Sam Erwin and Benjamin Franklin, even though he is better known at this point for speaking out on other subjects.

Today he intimated on the Rachel Maddow show that he is considering a run for the presidency. An Independent he caucuses with Democrats but does not really espouse either party.

Here are some of this thoughts on corporatism:

"In my view, a corporation is not a person. A corporation does not have First Amendment rights to spend as much money as it wants, without disclosure, on a political campaign."

"If a financial institution is too big to fail, it is too big exist."

"You know, I think that many people have the mistaken impression that Congress regulates Wall Street. In truth that's not the case. The real truth is that Wall Street regulates the Congress."

if the Democratic party had any sense, they'd endorse Bernie. He's more of a statesman than a politician and lord knows we are dire need of more statesmen than dime a dozen political hacks.

A statesman is a dead politician, and Lord knows, we need more statesmen!

But being gay Bernie might have a hard time. Run Elizabeth Warren and Bernie for VP.

I think a Sanders/Warren ticket -- no matter which is P or VP -- would make for an interesting race. Fresh faces, if you will.

I would accept Sanders as president, but he hasn't got a snowball's chance in hell of being elected. I worry that he'd be this decade's Ralph Nader and cost the Democrats the election.

Now, if he'd run in Democratic primaries and use the soapbox to make points, I'd love to see it... but not as an independent in the general, please.... not until we change the system to allow minor parties to have 'after the election' influence, like Israel and some others.

I believe there are more independent voters that in previous year. While I never liked Nader much, I can't think of a candidate I currently like (or am apt to in the foreseeable future) more than Sanders.

*IF* Hillary didn't run, I'd not be surprised to see Elizabeth Warren go on & run....but she is not likely to compete against Hillary and divide the party in an awkward way.

Warren is VERY knowledgeable on economics, but I'm not sure about her competence in foreign affairs. No doubt time in the Senate allows her to bone up on all sorts of things... but Hillary is already pretty well up on most issues.

(I make these points because I consider awareness & competence to be essential for the office. So many others... especially Republicans... don't seem to bother with the details of anything - they just follow political talking points and parrot party-line agendas.)

There is too much influence peddling in Washington, a city with over 12,000 lobbyists. Bernie Sanders is an honest man. I doubt he'd last a week before he was disappeared or his real birth certificate is suddenly located and guess what? He's brown skinned from an area in the Punjab and his father was a Muslim and his mother an atheist.

I keep hoping that people will get smarter and question everything, not just what's going on on the other side. I keep hoping people will realize their vote is more powerful than money. I keep wanting "smart" to be stronger than "stupid", and then Teapers elect some bimbo with the ability to be an attractive puppet, and I throw my hands up.

The "Occupy" movement was a start, but people just didn't seem to have limits on what they were willing to sacrifice and gave up. "Oh, my vacation time is up and they'll kick me out of my job/college if I don't go back." Things haven't become bad enough for people to be serious. I don't know what it will take for that to happen, but I think it will. I HOPE it will.

I don't think it's just money that rules the world. I think it's education, too. I think if you teach people to just believe and not to question, they teach their kids, and it becomes fairly easy to insinuate someone's particular "truth" into the dogma. Then, you try to shame those who question for trying to be smarter.

MY paranoid fantasy for today...

The problem with the Occupy movement was that there were a bunch of people standing around in the rain while the Republicans/Tea Party got organized and took over Congress, the courts, a lot of state governments, and a lot of school boards. We might be somewhere by now if they had spent all that energy and taken that moment in history to actually engage in the political process in some meaningful way. Yes, it's a broken process, but it's also one that ignores outsiders. It brought home the Will Rogers quote: "I'm not a member of any organized political party. I'm a Democrat."

It doesn't seem likely that we'll have any meaningful reform until we break the power of the two major political parties. We currently reward a bunch of people who are pre-selected for over-weaning ambition and a desire for power when they act in ways that are meant to feed this desire and maintain their personal power rather than governing the country.

The BEST thing, that neither party would ever do, is tell the truth..and NOBODY on the horizon, who aligns themselves with either major party, is going to do that! Sanders MIGHT be someone who could be tempted to do that....BUT, if he voted for Obamacare, then he is either one of the 'stupid' ones, as described by Jonathan Gruber, architect of the ACA, 'Obamacare' fraud!, and if he was, NOBODY should vote for him!
Kucinich, who was a long time hold-out for voting on it, knowing it was bullshit, voted on it, and then did not run again...(too bad, on both counts).

If you find yourself a Democrat, defending this kind of fraudulent treachery, then you are either one of the 'stupid public', (quoting Gruber), or just plainly, a lying ideologue, who doesn't give a shit about the truth, or who doesn't give a shit about willfully deceiving people, because you're brain-locked into you party's 'rhetorical talking points'....

...bit IF (and I'll check it out), Bernie voted for it, NO WAY should he even run......who needs ANOTHER lying or stupid President???

Sorry you ideologues found yourselves in such a pickle...but then, when people, (such as myself, and others on here) were telling you the truth, you just dug your heels in further, and insisted we should all be as stupid as yourselves!!!!!!

TRUE story!!!!!! (..and easily verifiable!!)

Merely pointing out what should be obvious to everyone: the fact that other than to trash other people's political and moral positions without suggesting an alternative is an act of moral cowardice. Not to mention betraying the fact that you haven't a position of your own.

One that you would undoubtedly be called on to defend, which you don't appear to be intellectually capable of doing, if your long history of posts on this site (over 10,000) is any indication.

Well, I agreed with you on that one.....

Frotho the Magnificent: "Not to mention betraying the fact that you haven't a position of your own."

I don't??????...another one of your stupid ASS-umptions, without basis!!

Frotho: "One that you would undoubtedly be called on to defend, which you don't appear to be intellectually capable of doing, if your long history of posts on this site (over 10,000) is any indication."

No problem...but I'm not inclined to go into a long winded marathon with you, AGAIN, while you spout off complete fiction, in a dizzying display of, intoxication of your own idiot-unlogical blathering deceptions and pseudo intellectual rhetoric of 'so-called liberal' talking point spinning.

Frotho the Malfeasance: "Go back to your music. Cut rate, bargain basement, imitation Vangelis is something you seem to be able to handle."

"Cut rate, bargain basement, imitation Vangelis"...(blah blah blah)
Well that "Cut rate, bargain basement, imitation Vangelis"...is being used in 5 hospitals in 4 states in the capacity of cardiac-therapy....
but then, trying to explain the Heart is beyond your capacity...

YOU bought into the Obamacare lie, and 'defended' it, even though you SAID you preferred the single payer plan better, (and so do I)...but you were...(and I can prove it)...just happy and fine with it being a DECEPTIVE 'step'....(we already went 'round and about with that one)..
..While you could NOT answer the question on 'WHY', was the need for DECEPTION, when at the time, Obama(and crew of thugs and con-men) had the majority of the House AND Senate.....There was NO reason to misrepresent it, AT ALL,........unless.......it was just another DECEPTIVE step to something else......but that's another story, too far beyond your limitations of understanding......you only see things through your 'political-gee-look-at-wonderful-me' blinders!

Goofus, it's pretty obvious that you don't have any idea of what philosophy is all about. I could try to educate you, but since you don't understand even simple abstract concepts, it's obvious that the more complex conceptual principles one finds in philosophical study would be totally beyond your comprehension. You're like one of the denizens of Plato's Cave, staring uncomprehendingly at shadows on the wall.

Your insults don't reach me because I realize that you don't understand a word I'm saying (even though it's clearly and succinctly put, and grammatically correct, as befits a person with a well-organized mind), and your yipping and snarling means not more to me than the incessant yapping of my neighbor's Yorkshire terrier, who often barks at his own shadow.

But—thank you for posting the link to Bernie Sanders' voting record. I've read that in detail, and I've also read several other articles about his political career and accomplishments, and although I have not yet made up my mind as to who I will support in the 2016 elections, I am giving him serious consideration.

So, once again, thanks to you for the voting record, and thanks to Ebbie for starting this thread.

Goofus, I have a suggestion.   Why don't you go out and chase squirrels? My neighbor's Yorkie barks frantically at squirrels in trees, then tries to scramble up the tree after the squirrels. He often manages to claw his way up several feet of tree trunk before he falls on his keister. Funny as hell, if it weren't so pathetically stupid.

Or you could just lay on the front lawn and pant.

Glad to have been of assistance to those who would want a voting account of Congress.
Some of you may like certain voting records, some may not....but I tend to use them, rather than deciding, merely on party affiliation.
That being said, when the architect of Obamacare comes out and says, that they purposely used deceptive language in the bill, because the voting American public is 'too stupid' to see through it, and then right before the vote was taken, Pelosi says, "Let's pass this thing, so we can find out what's in it"....then I want to know who voted for it, WITHOUT reading it, OR, who read it, and was 'too stupid' to understand it, whether you agree with the bill or not, then one has to ask the question, "Who ARE these guys 'representing'....and WHY???
....nor will I buy into the bullshit of voting for the 'lesser of two evils'..........and if a gang of gullible fools DON'T hold THEIR particular party accountable, then it is only yourselves to blame that your particular party goes down to defeat....so you might as well be of service to 'your party', and reconsider parroting their propaganda rhetoric...and DEMAND the truth from them!
In an earlier post, about a year ago, I said pretty much the same thing and predicted, back then, that if they weren't careful, and loose with the truth, and passing things, based on deceit, that they would lose mightily in a landslide, and liberalism would be taken back for years to come.........guess what?

But take heart.....most all of it is just theater anyway...and surely, behind the facade, alternating between 'right' and 'left', the REAL agenda is being brought together, incrementally, by power-brokers that needed a disguise.....they've even written YOUR script, both sides....to keep you distracted, and looking in the wrong places....if you ever thought to look at all.

That's why I re-iterate, "I'm not with the party...I'm with the band!" ....

AND.....

"Right Wing" and "Left Wing" are on the same bird!"

When you catch the flash, of what we have allowed to have happened to our country, system and culture....and hold that in contrast to 'brighter, more loving side of you' there is a wealth of musical input to draw from....Spiritually, emotionally, physically and mentally there is material to both draw from, and speak to.....and express in every musical phrase!....

....that is, if you're REALLY INTO music.

Don Froth: "Goofus, it's pretty obvious that you don't have any idea of what philosophy is all about. P. S. It takes no brains for someone to sit back, put on a haughty expression, and say "A pox on both their houses!" Good excuse for not taking the trouble to think.

And "Left Wing" and "Right Wing" have nothing to do with birds. The expressions were first used leading up to the French Revolution, in the Estates General, a sort of congress, designating which side of the meeting hall a particular faction sat. To the left of the president (the representatives of the bourgeoisie and peasants) and to the right (the aristocracy). Or--those who want progressive change and those who want to maintain the status quo.

..and it's too bad..because I like him in a lot of ways....but this bullshit displaces that....we NEED 'representatives' to represent the PEOPLE...not whatever 'special interests' they get into bed with....or political party TELLING us what is 'good for us'..whether we like or want it!!

Won't they all!

Due to the Affordable Care Act (which Obama haters and others who don't know any better insist on calling "Obamacare"), millions of people who didn't have access to affordable health care before now have it.

Key features of the Affordable Health Care Act:
Coverage
•Ends Pre-Existing Condition Exclusions: Health plans can no longer limit or deny benefits due to a pre-existing condition.
•Keeps Young Adults Covered: If you are under 26, you may be eligible to be covered under your parent's health plan.
•Ends Arbitrary Withdrawals of Insurance Coverage.
•Guarantees your Right to Appeal: You now have the right to ask that your plan reconsider its denial of payment.

Costs
•Ends Lifetime Limits on Coverage: Lifetime limits on most benefits are banned for all new health insurance plans.
•Reviews Premium Increases: Insurance companies must now publicly justify any unreasonable rate hikes.
•Helps You Get the Most from Your Premium Dollars: Your premium dollars must be spent primarily on health care – not administrative costs.

Care
•Covers Preventive Care at No Cost to You: You may be eligible for recommended preventive health services. No copayment.
•Protects Your Choice of Doctors: Choose the primary care doctor you want from your plan's network.
•Removes Insurance Company Barriers to Emergency Services: You can seek emergency care at a hospital outside of your health plan's network.
I can see why the insurance companies don't like it, and the usual squawkers afraid of creeping "Socialized Medicine" get all tooted up over it, but the Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare," if you insist) means that the United States is gradually, bit by bit, catching up with the civilized countries of the world.

Goofus, you claim that the Affordable Care Act is "a rip-off by subterfuge"?

Explain. In detail!

This latest 'news' about how the bill was passed makes me wonder: Since it was based on Massachusetts' health care law was Romney also involved? Inquiring minds and all that...

Ebbie, RIGHT!!!!
Haven't I been telling you that the corruption was on BOTH sides...by the same people????

Poor Don...he hasn't been keeping up with the 'news'...well, 'news' for some...

Remember when I was 'exchanging' with Bobert?...and I took considerable time to read this monstrosity?...and I told you back then, that it was so convoluted(even had a friend attorney help with it)...and it was SOOO fucked up that you'd (generically) would never believe me??..and it was too long to try to capture in a post.....WELL HERE WE ARE!!

If you remember back also, that I pointed out how the Nixon die-hards, just couldn't believe that he was 'unjustly forced out of office' (read: resigned)...and that's how the 'so-called liberals' were going to feel???

Clue #1: The most vociferous supporters of the fraud(A.K.A., A.C.A.) were also the most deceived..and the target of the deception...also described by the very guy who wrote the language of the bill, (which he himself describes as 'deliberately tortured language') to intentionally mislead the stupid voters ...."because it would have never passed, had they known"...and this guy was paid 6 million taxpayers dollars, .....To figure out a massive lie!......(I wonder if he took Economics 101 from Bernie Madoff)...and how many hundreds of billions on the stupid website....and it's YOU guys that should be pissed....but instead, you shoot the messenger!.........(not only on this, but a FEW other topics, as well!)...and I keep saying that passed legislation, passed on a lie, (or bad science), WILL NOT LAST!....and that the 'so-called liberals' SHOULD have been holding their celebrity ideologues, accountable to tell the truth, and chuck out the 'ends justify the means' bullshit, as espoused by 'Don the Wizard'....

OK...throw your rocks, call your names...it don't mean shit, except how sucked in you are!!..The truth is blowing your trips out the window!...and as I've said, NUMEROUS times, "SNAP NOW, AND AVOID THE RUSH!!!"

Gust from the septic tank, this answers none of the points in my recent post.

Why is it that people who have had occasion to use the Affordable Care Act are quite happy with it? Much to the surprise of some of them.

I haven't kept up with the news, Goofball? Seems I've done a bit better than you in this matter. You keep buying into the anti-Obama propaganda without checking the facts.)

(Goofball last seen running toward the horizon with his ass on fire....)

Are you for real?..or what??

You must have forgotten...we live in a DEMOCRACY.....and people are supposed to be informed on what they vote for....and not lied to about its contents!

Oh shit!..I forgot...your life's history seems to lean toward instant gratification over the truth, or long range consequences...as long as you THINK you're getting your way.....no matter who has to pay the bill...or bear the responsibility.

Regards to the family!
