Muscal Traditions has just announced the release of a double CD of Sam Larner, one of the most important English traditional singers ever to have been recorded. It's called Sam Larner: Cruising Round Yarmouth (MTCD369-0) and contains all the recordings Ewan MacColl and Peggy Seeger made of Sam Larner between 1958-60. The price is £16-00 plus p&p. Further details can be found here

Been waiting a long time for this
We discussed the material that had been recorded from Sam by Ewan and Peggy with Keith. some time before he died and provided him with a list of that which had never been issued
We also suggested that he might be able to include some of the mass of actuality - maybe next time.

I used Fred's link , didn't know if there was any other info in Vic's , so it seemed worth mentioning that it didn't work for me

I just used Vic's link and it worked fine.

A word of caution. The present release appears to contain all the songs which went onto the old Folkways LP, Now is the Time for Fishing, which was re-released on CD by Topic and also by Musical Traditions.

I wouldn't worry too much. The LP tracks will account for maybe 40 minutes out of the approximately two and a half hours which will be on the new release. So there'll still be plenty there to whet the appetite of the connoisseur. And it will be grand to have all the MacColl/Seeger recordings of Sam together in the one place.

My link was to a .pdf file - so unless you have Adobe Reader which you can get as a free download by clicking on the link, you won't be able to open it.

I must say that using .pdf files to make his album booklets available on his website is a new departure for Rod as he has always loaded them as .htm files up until his last half a dozen releases
