Subject: RE: BS: Anyone take metoprolol From: Rapparee Date: 06 Dec 14 - 09:54 PM You do mean 1-(iso-propylamino)-3-[4′(2-methoxyethyl)phenoxy]-2-propanol, right? Here. Here. And here. |

Subject: RE: BS: Anyone take metoprolol From: maeve Date: 07 Dec 14 - 10:22 AM From #'s link above: "Do not suddenly stop taking Lopressor. Sharp chest pain, irregular heartbeat, and sometimes heart attack may occur if you suddenly stop Lopressor. The risk may be greater if you have certain types of heart disease. Your doctor should slowly lower your dose over several weeks if you need to stop taking it. This should be done even if you only take Lopressor for high blood pressure. Heart disease is common and you may not know you have it. Limit physical activity while you are lowering your dose. If new or worsened chest pain or other heart problems occur, contact your doctor right away. You may need to start taking Lopressor again." Dan please at least call your doc friend! Please check in again here so we know you're not in trouble. |
Subject: RE: BS: Anyone take metoprolol From: Uncle_DaveO Date: 07 Dec 14 - 10:38 AM I have atrial fibrillation, and my cardiologist says I will be subject to A-Fib for the rest of my life. So they put me on Metoprolol to slow down the heart. The good Doc says that's lifelong also. But a slower blood flow in the atrium could cause blood clots, so I'm on Warfarin for the rest of my life too. Whether because of Metoprolol or not, I'm sleepy a great deal, and (my Beautiful Wife complains) I'm crabby. Ah, well, so be it. Get used to it if you can't "get over it". Dave Oesterreich |
Subject: RE: BS: Anyone take metoprolol From: olddude Date: 07 Dec 14 - 11:11 AM Same with me uncle dave ok I do it correctly I think but that stuff is awful to me anyway Makes me way to tired |

Subject: RE: BS: Anyone take metoprolol From: Leadbelly Date: 07 Dec 14 - 03:03 PM Take Metoprololsuccinate for more than twenty years. No problems, no side-effects. |
Subject: RE: BS: Anyone take metoprolol From: Jack Campin Date: 07 Dec 14 - 05:59 PM I've been on bisoprolol for a few years - seems to do the same thing with less side effects. The only one I've noticed is a tendency for my toes to go into cramp occasionally. It has also almost eliminated headaches - I used to get them regularly but I haven't taken a painkiller for headache since starting the bisoprolol. |
Subject: RE: BS: Anyone take metoprolol From: olddude Date: 07 Dec 14 - 07:31 PM Nice to know thank you. This stuff gives me head aches that make me want to scream |
Subject: RE: BS: Anyone take metoprolol From: GUEST,.gargoyle Date: 07 Dec 14 - 08:54 PM You had a choice. Sincerely, Gargoyle There was no one but yourself thrusting the stuff down your throat....your decision began a'decade before with bad decisions seeking an "easy way." |
Subject: RE: BS: Anyone take metoprolol From: Neil D Date: 07 Dec 14 - 09:22 PM I took it for a very short time, but I broke out in hives so my cardio switched me to Atenolol. I have since learned that the allergic reaction may have actually been as a result of inactive ingredients in foreign generics, but I've had no problems with the Atenolol, which seems to be working. |
Subject: RE: BS: Anyone take metoprolol From: olddude Date: 07 Dec 14 - 09:31 PM Gargoyl . Ah but life is really boring without some bad habits. Who wants to die of boredom |
Subject: RE: BS: Anyone take metoprolol From: Rapparee Date: 07 Dec 14 - 10:03 PM Ask about Atenolol. There seems to be fewer problems. My wife takes it. |
Subject: RE: BS: Anyone take metoprolol From: olddude Date: 07 Dec 14 - 10:04 PM Good suggestions. Thanks much |
Subject: RE: BS: Anyone take metoprolol From: beeliner Date: 07 Dec 14 - 10:51 PM I took it for a while then was switched to something else - don't know why but I trust my doc - he's a man after my own heart - so to speak. My wife takes it with no complaints. |
Subject: RE: BS: Anyone take metoprolol From: Bat Goddess Date: 08 Dec 14 - 06:43 PM I used to -- had no problems whatsoever with it. I now take Atenolol, another beta blocker. If you're having problems with a med, have the doctor write a prescription for a substitute. There are a LOT of drugs out there to lower your blood pressure. Linn |
Subject: RE: BS: Anyone take metoprolol From: olddude Date: 08 Dec 14 - 08:25 PM Linn my blood pressure is perfect they give it to me after open heart |
Subject: RE: BS: Anyone take metoprolol From: bubblyrat Date: 09 Dec 14 - 08:42 AM Graviora Quaedam Sunt Remedia Periculis ; Lisinopril and Ramipiril nearly did for me (swollen legs etc ) but I now take a daily 160 mg of Valsartin for my BP. Getting numbness in both sets of toes, though.Hmmmm..... |
Subject: RE: BS: Anyone take metoprolol From: Rapparee Date: 09 Dec 14 - 10:41 AM It's not always the medication, sometimes it's the "inactive ingredients" but there is no way to separate them from the active. In any case, let your doctor know if there are side effects. Things that are supposed to cure you shouldn't hurt you. (I'm in favor of drilling holes to let the evil spirits out myself.) |
Subject: RE: BS: Anyone take metoprolol From: Bat Goddess Date: 09 Dec 14 - 01:31 PM Ah, they did that to Tom, too, after his valve replacement. And Lisinopril. And Lipitor though he'd never had a problem with cholesterol. Main point being you and your doctor have options and alternatives. Linn |
Subject: RE: BS: Anyone take metoprolol From: olddude Date: 09 Dec 14 - 02:21 PM Doc cut it in half so I will try that a bit |

Subject: RE: BS: Anyone take metoprolol From: gnu Date: 10 Dec 14 - 11:40 AM Glad you talked to the doc, Dan. Maeve said it right. (m... The heavy rain woke me at 5AM but we just had a bit of a "lull" of rain for about an hour. Now, it's game on again. Only 42 outages so far but that's because it's rain in the south of NB. I expect the outages will rise up north as the storm continues.) |
