Subject: RE: BS: Dogs barking next door... grrrrrrrr! From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 16 Dec 14 - 07:33 AM I live too far from any neighbors for their barking dogs to be a nuisance. The barking dogs on the YouTube videos my wife's watching in the other room are a different matter. |
Subject: RE: BS: Dogs barking next door... grrrrrrrr! From: MGM·Lion Date: 16 Dec 14 - 04:25 AM An uncle of mine who was a barrister once got a letter from a neighbour complaining of his dogs' barking. He replied that he had gone outside and read the letter to the dogs, who had promised to be quieter in future. ≈M≈ |
Subject: RE: BS: Dogs barking next door... grrrrrrrr! From: Musket Date: 16 Dec 14 - 03:47 AM Hah! My brother complained about his neighbour's dogs. 24/7 barking. The neighbour ignored the polite request so my brother complained to the local council who sent a reply with a "one week diary" for him to complete. However, the council sent it to the neighbour by mistake and just to be totally crap, sent my brother a letter asking him to control his dogs. Needless to say they don't have the expense of sending each other Xmas cards these days. |
Subject: RE: BS: Dogs barking next door... grrrrrrrr! From: Bert Date: 16 Dec 14 - 03:45 AM As guest David says, call code enforcement. If they don't respond, call them every time that it happens. I hear that in California you can buy wind chimes made of foam rubber. |
Subject: RE: BS: Dogs barking next door... grrrrrrrr! From: Janie Date: 15 Dec 14 - 11:59 PM Tough one, gnu. I love dogs. With the exception of nearly always friendly but also nearly always incorrigible to training and otherwise indifferent coon hounds (and city dwellers are doing a coon hound (and most beagles) grave injustice to keep it in a city) no one should own a dog who is not willing to give it the same attention, care, attention to the physical and social needs and inclusion in the life of the family their 7 year old human child warrants. There are still a few places and spaces waaaayyy out in the country where so much attention may not be needed. But not many. Deleted most of this post which was a rant about my nearest neighbor and her relationship with dogs which is pathological and has to do with behaviors bordering on animal hoarding and also her own unrealistic fears about intruders. |
Subject: RE: BS: Dogs barking next door... grrrrrrrr! From: Ebbie Date: 15 Dec 14 - 09:50 PM Guest/David, Rapparee has a LOT of tricks that usually work. Think you couldn't set Cruise Control and get in the back seat for a nap? Think again. |
Subject: RE: BS: Dogs barking next door... grrrrrrrr! From: Gurney Date: 15 Dec 14 - 09:49 PM I've heard that dogs bark when they hear some types of wind chimes. |
Subject: RE: BS: Dogs barking next door... grrrrrrrr! From: GUEST,David Date: 15 Dec 14 - 09:13 PM Sleep masks are to be worn when you go to bed to sleep not for driving. GEEEEEEEEEEEEz. USE YOUR CAR VISOR FOR THE SUN! Or take the bus instead! |
Subject: RE: BS: Dogs barking next door... grrrrrrrr! From: Rapparee Date: 15 Dec 14 - 09:04 PM Valium in raw hamburger. An old CIA trick. When I drive around the sun gets in my eyes. The police here frowned on me using a sleep mask. I think I'll write the Mayor and see if he can do anything about it. This has to STOP!!! |
Subject: RE: BS: Dogs barking next door... grrrrrrrr! From: GUEST,Guest - David Date: 15 Dec 14 - 08:58 PM Hi Gnu; Perhaps you can contact your local Code Enforcement Department in your city (different from police dept). Give them the address where the dogs are barking and let them know that it is continually an ongoing problem. I had to call some years ago about a neighbors dog that barked almost all night long in their back yard next door. Every single night! For hours and hours! I couldn't take it anymore as I could not get any sleep. Code Enforcement usually sends someone to the home where the dog is barking to talk to the people in the daytime/ and or sends a letter of complaint. You can remain anonymous if you wish. If they get enough complaints (even from same person) they can fine the people if they do not comply.(to quiet their dog.) It's worth a try to get peace and quiet. |
Subject: RE: BS: Dogs barking next door... grrrrrrrr! From: GUEST,Lin Date: 15 Dec 14 - 08:43 PM To Olddude: are Regarding the Christmas lights keeping you awake: You could go to your local pharmacy or (chemist if you are in UK) and buy a sleep mask for about $5.00 or $6.00) Very inexpensive. Don't get a sinus mask but get a Sleep Mask - the dark/black sleep mask that has an elastic piece that goes around the back of your head. Buy a dark one because it keeps any bright light out of your eyes. I have seen them sometimes for $3.00 or $4.00. Sometimes they are in the pharmacy area and sometimes with beauty products in some stores. If you can't find it just ask a clerk for the sleep masks. Oh yeah, sometimes they are kept where they sell the ear plugs. I actually use them for keeping out the morning light. Takes a day or two to maybe get used to them but then it really helps. Oh, some have just a elastic piece and some types have adjustable ones that you can stretch/adjust for your comfort. They really work - but buy the black ones - not light colored ones as those don't keep the light out. |
