   Much of what has been expressed in this thread simply highlights the lack of understanding that many people have of the situation. There are no simple fixes. No, there is no one side or the other that is all wrong, or all right.
The state of Israel has a right to exist, it is essential to the Jewish world that it does so. Palestinians also need a state. None of this will be accomplished by spouting the kind of rants that I see here.

I think it is a real shame that a reasoned discussion was not possible on this subject. There are people here who are truly interested in this topic. Then there are those who come only to fight, rant and display nothing but scorn for opinions that don't match theirs. What amazes me is the total lack of self awareness that some of these people display. Can they really not see that they are the problem.
   I was going to attempt a new thread on this but decided against it as the same lot would turn up again. A shame that some of us can't have a civil discussion because of them.

Why is it, or how do you reconcile, being 'progressively minded', or 'left of center' when 'progressives' tend to identify with the liberals in the Democrat Party, as in Democracy, and promote women's rights, and equality for all, promote tolerance with homosexuality rights', and you make Israel, who just had their democratic elections, and have shown tolerance to homosexuals, and have been VERY supportive of women's rights(even had a woman Prime Minister), out to be the 'villain', and favor support to the Muslims, who don't believe in Democracy, favor Sharia Law, which is very much against 'women's rights, homosexuality, and appears to use extremely violent and cruel methods, to facilitate their expansions?
