With which of these phrases do YOU find fault:

1. activities that undermine the security of Canada
2. an act that poses a threat to transportation security
3. to keep the peace relating to a terrorist activity or a terrorism offence
4. the increased protection of witnesses
5. new reporting requirements
6. judicial review of, any decision requiring the disclosure of information or other evidence

Garg... argue with The Canadian Bar Association, four past PMs, all of the big unions, media and telecommunications companies, the Privacy Commissioner, etc, etc, etc... including The Canadian Constitution and Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

Problem is, there is no reasonable oversight to define the terms used in the legislation. There is no shortage of examples of broad interpretations used to justify abuse of snooping powers, in democratic countries, where oversight exists. Without well thought out oversight processes, the liklihood of abuse (for a variety of potential reasons beyond security) is much greater. That is a big reason why many individuals and organizations are concerned about C51.
