I've got a problem with downloading photos onto f**ing Farcebook! I hate the f**ing thing but a group that I belong to has a page ... because every other group in the world has a f**ing page, so we have to have a f**ing page.

Anyway, I can't seem to upload photos to the page. Yes, yes, I know, six year old morons can upload photos to Farcebook from their smart-phones but it doesn't seem to work for me. I took a photo on my phone recently, transferred it to my computer's hard drive and then tried to upload it to F***book. It appeared on the page as a tiny little coloured square blob. The picture was 709 KB, by the way.

Help !!!

Shimrod, I use Preview on my iMac - then Tools, Adjust Size, & Save As to keep the original. You will probably have something similar on your computer.

Same can be done on photoshop-type applications

sandra (not at all techy but I'm sure some techy person will drop in & help)

Thanks Sandra. I have just tried compressing the image file in Paint Shop Pro (my preferred image editing program). I got the file size down to about 70 K. The image on Facebook is still a bit bigger - but not by much. I'm baffled! Surely, it shouldn't be as hard as this?!

For simple photo manipulation download a copy of Irfanview. It lets you resize, crop and apply a few simple effects and is free.

Rather than moving photos to your computer from the phone then posting, try opening the photo on your phone image gallery and using the three pointed symbol thingie (a < with a dot on each end and the middle) and "share" it directly to the page from your phone. It partly depends on the size photo you tell your phone to capture, how large it will send, but you may also have photo management software (such as Picasa) that automatically shrinks just about anything it works with if you don't tell it not to. I have a friend who can never manage to send full-sized images in email because he can't figure out how to stop Picasa from truncating them.
