Subject: BS: What's up with the SERVER NOT FOUND From: Janie Date: 02 Sep 15 - 10:23 PM Have opened 3 threads above and below the line in the last few minutes and all had a message in large, gray caps under the last post "SERVER NOT FOUND" Whas up with that? |
Subject: RE: BS: What's up with the SERVER NOT FOUND From: Janie Date: 02 Sep 15 - 10:26 PM Make this thread the 4th in the series. |
Subject: RE: BS: What's up with the SERVER NOT FOUND From: Rapparee Date: 02 Sep 15 - 10:36 PM Came through fine. That can mean your ISP's server or MC's. |
Subject: RE: BS: What's up with the SERVER NOT FOUND From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 03 Sep 15 - 12:39 AM It probably means it's time for folks to starting sending Max some contributions. |
Subject: RE: BS: What's up with the SERVER NOT FOUND From: Janie Date: 03 Sep 15 - 01:35 AM Can't figure out how to upload a screenshot to Mudcat as it seems from Rap's post the same thing is not appearing to at least some catters. Will try to upload it to the Mudcat facebook group. |
Subject: RE: BS: What's up with the SERVER NOT FOUND From: Janie Date: 03 Sep 15 - 01:58 AM Not having any problem opening the threads and seeing the posts, Rap. But every thread I open has "Server not found" beneath the last post to the thread. Was able to upload a screen shot of this thread to the facebook Mudcat group so you or others who may be able to help can see. FWIW, I just logged out then logged out again to mudcat.org to see if it went away. It didn't. |
Subject: RE: BS: What's up with the SERVER NOT FOUND From: Stanron Date: 03 Sep 15 - 03:03 AM When I get the 'Server not found' message it usually means my router/modem is off or gone silly. Sometimes it's because the line itself is down. Usually turning the router off and then on again will sort it out. If the line is down it's a matter of waiting. There's a recent thread about that. Of course none of this will be any use if your server is not found. Sorry. |
Subject: RE: BS: What's up with the SERVER NOT FOUND From: Joe Offer Date: 03 Sep 15 - 03:04 AM There have been some problems. Max will take Mudcat down in the wee hours to fix a few things. -Joe- |
Subject: RE: BS: What's up with the SERVER NOT FOUND From: Mr Red Date: 03 Sep 15 - 04:20 AM If the last thread is affected it sounds like the latest post &/or Reply section is coming from another server that is down at the time. Max runs two servers AFAIK, a cluette there. If there is maintenance needed I would expect one server to be off-line, and if hence the normal tandem operation would be impossible. And anyway, if changes are being made, it makes sense to provide something to see, but not allow it to to be added to. I have seen many occasions when the 'Cat is not accessable over the years, usually in the wee small hours, not wee in the UK, but pretty wee for Allegheny (other counties are available). |
Subject: RE: BS: What's up with the SERVER NOT FOUND From: GUEST,Derrick Date: 03 Sep 15 - 04:26 AM The message seems to be on the etta version of Mudcat but not the awe version. Look at the Mudcat Cafe header and see the letters or is it a word just to the left of Cafe. |
Subject: RE: BS: What's up with the SERVER NOT FOUND From: GUEST,Derrick Date: 03 Sep 15 - 04:27 AM Sorry, just to the right of Cafe. |
Subject: RE: BS: What's up with the SERVER NOT FOUND From: Monique Date: 03 Sep 15 - 04:34 AM I see it on both, it's in French over here. |
Subject: RE: BS: What's up with the SERVER NOT FOUND From: MMario Date: 03 Sep 15 - 05:36 AM Isn't that the spot where an ad appears? |
Subject: RE: BS: What's up with the SERVER NOT FOUND From: GUEST Date: 03 Sep 15 - 09:18 AM I am getting "DNS Error" after the last post. |
Subject: RE: BS: What's up with the SERVER NOT FOUND From: MGM·Lion Date: 03 Sep 15 - 10:27 AM Just logged on to give exactly same info as post from GUEST above. 0918 am., who has beaten me to it. How can there be a DNS error when the threads seem to be appearing OK? ≈M≈ |
Subject: RE: BS: What's up with the SERVER NOT FOUND From: GUEST,Peter Date: 03 Sep 15 - 11:33 AM I see it at the bottom - last post that I can see is 10:27 |
Subject: RE: BS: What's up with the SERVER NOT FOUND From: GUEST,Peter Date: 03 Sep 15 - 11:35 AM Doesn't seem to be replacing a post. I am seeing it on every thread that I open. When I first saw it I assumed that it was a problem with an ad. |
Subject: RE: BS: What's up with the SERVER NOT FOUND From: GUEST Date: 03 Sep 15 - 05:34 PM I think the thing in the page source after that horizontal line above the "DNS Error" is an advert that isn't working. |
Subject: RE: BS: What's up with the SERVER NOT FOUND From: maeve Date: 03 Sep 15 - 06:06 PM Hmmm... didn't Joe already address this- I think? From: Joe Offer - PM Date: 03 Sep 15 - 03:04 AM There have been some problems. Max will take Mudcat down in the wee hours to fix a few things. -Joe- |
Subject: RE: BS: What's up with the SERVER NOT FOUND From: GUEST Date: 04 Sep 15 - 06:28 AM The DNS error is comming from a link to an Amazon server so unless Mudcat is putting a bad link on the page it may not be a Mudcat problem. I normally get banner advert in that position. |
