Does anyone have a copy of the Radio Lancashire documentary from 2003 / 2005 please?

"On 20th March 2005, there was a repeat of the 2003 BBC Radio Lancashire documentary about Jimmy, written and produced by Alec Makinson.

"Whatever Happened to Jimmy Clitheroe features rare archive interviews given by Jimmy in the 1970s, clips from "The Clitheroe Kid", and interviews with people who knew him. This is the best documentary ever made about Jimmy!"

See:

Thank you.

No, indeed. But I did go backstage at the Theatre Royal in Newcastle to meet him once at some point in the mid 1960s. How old was I at the time? A very little boy for sure, but it's among my earliest cherished memories. I can still recall to bafflement as I realised that he was, in reality, not a boy himself but an old man in heavy greasepaint though he would have only been in his 40s at the time. Only 51 when he killed himself in 73 after his mother's funeral.

Though he was born in Clitheroe, Clitheroe was his real name.

Don't some mothers 'ave 'em!

Oops, the Radio Lancashire doc can be downloaded from www.myanonamouse.net. You have to apply to get in, but it's worth it.

One of my earliest memories was getting excited about him on either the telly or radio, I don't recall which.

At this point I aught to say . . .

"Ah, me leg!"
