Subject: RE: BS: Anyway, you lot can bugger off, because From: Steve Shaw Date: 02 Oct 15 - 08:35 PM A little chap, weighing in at 7lb 9 oz, a mere one ounce less than I allegedly was. It's controversial, but I'll swear he's the spit of his grandad. Naturally, I now have responsibilities. This fellow must not support Chelsea nor must he speak with a softie southern accent. Jesus, I'll not sleep tonight... Anyway... WEEEEEEEEE! |

Subject: RE: BS: Anyway, you lot can bugger off, because From: DMcG Date: 03 Oct 15 - 05:35 AM Daughter-in-law is three months pregnant with our first grandchild. Don't know if that makes we technically a grandfather or not ... |

Subject: RE: BS: Anyway, you lot can bugger off, because From: Steve Shaw Date: 03 Oct 15 - 06:10 AM Cheers, all! I already have all the attributes in your list, Raggytash, except for the pipe. Can I please change that for a whisky glass? Unfortunately, we live in Cornwall and they live in Richmond (the London one), so we'll only be able to execute our grandparently duties up close once in a while. We do see quite a lot of ' em, though, as our son has never lost his affection for Cornwall (or us, I hope!). Chance of a heavy day on the trains tomorrow...! |

Subject: RE: BS: Anyway, you lot can bugger off, because From: Will Fly Date: 03 Oct 15 - 07:13 AM Well done (well, you started it...) Steve. Our 3rd one - a girl - was born four months ago - and I've no doubt she'll be bossing the two lads (6 and 8) when she gets into her stride. Great fun to have them around, and we're lucky in that my son and family are just 30 minutes away from us. They'll be along for Sunday lunch tomorrow - with mayhem and mischief the order of the day. Enjoy! |

Congratulations, Steve! |
Subject: RE: BS: Anyway, you lot can bugger off, because From: GUEST,Raggytash Date: 03 Oct 15 - 10:15 AM Many years ago friends bought my son, aged about 5, several litre pots of poster paints. ............. Subject: RE: BS: Anyway, you lot can bugger off, because From: GUEST,Time stamp Date: 03 Oct 15 - 12:29 PM Don't do what I did..each of my three grandkids first word was Grandad (ish). Son in laws incessantly drumming "Daaaadddeeee" into them for weeks to no avail, we have them a few hours send them back shouting "Gandar". Funny how they all independently initially pronounced Grandad, Gandar. Fortunately it's a grin between us all, but I do feel a bit guiltyish, but not for long. Congrats Steve it's a joy mate, and I have it on good authority the daftest Granda's are the coolest, so you're in good shape. |

Subject: RE: BS: Anyway, you lot can bugger off, because From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 03 Oct 15 - 02:36 PM Living in Richmond it might be tricky avoiding a soft southern accent. And Chelsea is on the same side of London... Might have a few problems there. Congratulations. |

Subject: RE: BS: Anyway, you lot can bugger off, because From: MGM·Lion Date: 03 Oct 15 - 04:42 PM My late wife Valerie and I had no children; yet she would often sigh and wish she had some grandchildren. She would get quite irritated with me when I replied (she being of a somewhat academic turn of mind) that unfortunately she lacked the primary qualification. Most sincere and hearty congratulations and best wishes on the occasion, Steve. ≈Michael≈ |

Subject: RE: BS: Anyway, you lot can bugger off, because From: Steve Shaw Date: 04 Oct 15 - 06:47 AM 'We have become a grandmother' was Maggie Thatcher's pronouncement to the cameras in 1989 on the birth of her first grandchild. That's where I got it from, Gurney! |

Subject: RE: BS: Anyway, you lot can bugger off, because From: Steve Shaw Date: 04 Oct 15 - 06:13 PM It has been determined, much to my chagrin, and by family members allegedly much "wiser" than me, that the lad looks far more like his dad than like me. That's the little chap's loss, in m'humble. He could still have my brain and common sense, of course. And anyway, my mum told me tonight that I was the most beautiful baby she'd ever seen, and she did after all work in a maternity home for years. The one I was born in. Mrs Steve's going up to London on the train tomorrow for a cuddle. I'm stuck at home for two days with bloody plumbers putting in a new boiler. Never mind, I'll be there before the weekend. We did facetime tonight, and I can tell y'all that we're the grandfather of the most beautiful child ever to grace this planet of ours! |
Subject: RE: BS: Anyway, you lot can bugger off, because From: Uncle_DaveO Date: 05 Oct 15 - 04:06 PM I'll see your grandfatheritude, and raise you one! A "perfect little girl" great-granddaughter, 6 pounds 14 oz., 19 inches, the night before last, at 10:10. Dave Oesterreich |
Subject: RE: BS: Anyway, you lot can bugger off, because From: Steve Shaw Date: 05 Oct 15 - 07:32 PM Congratulations, Dave. I hope you've seen yours, unlike me. :-( the plumbers are in and the house is in chaos, but Mrs Steve took the train to London and has had a thousand cuddles. I had to be content with half an hour of Facetime, but at least you can do that these days. My turn will come! |
Subject: RE: BS: Anyway, you lot can bugger off, because From: Richard Bridge Date: 05 Oct 15 - 08:36 PM Hmm. I have much more sense in these things - my oldest daughter lives over near Marlborough, 125 miles away and my son in Australia, so I get much more peace and quiet. The speaking ones of the Australian grand-boys have decided that I am "Grumps" so they are showing some signs of intelligence despite their location. |
