I realize that some parts of the U.S. have already had more snow than they want, but that's not so for us in drought-stricken California. Here it is, the day before Thanksgiving, and it started SNOWING here in the Northern California Sierra foothills, and it's making everything all white and wonderful.

I'm happy to hear that joe. Has the world got all quiet, and when the wind blows, does the falling snow sift across the fallen snow, making a beautiful soft sound?

That's one of my favorite things about snow.

Well, now the sun came out and the snow is gone. It stayed on the ground for about ten minutes.
But hey, it's a start.

Not if it runs off, rather than soaking in.
My friends in Maine gave me a call to ell me they had an inch on the ground. Their dogs are enjoying it.

We had a week or two of snow in southeastern Alaska but it is mostly gone. We have 14 or 15 inches on the books but it is amazing how quickly it disappears when rain falls into it. Plus, the ground itself is not yet frozen, so the snow got a double whammy.

On another note, when did weather forecasters become so precise? Lately the blurbs say things like: "Rain will begin in 18 minutes" or "...94 minutes" ? Is it just here?

We've already had our first batch of Lancashire snow. Then it warmed up for a few days. Tonight it is heading towards zero again.

On the up side our heating system, which failed yesterday, was mended today!

Snow on the Pennines in Cumbria last weekend (22nd Nov) even in fields around Kirkby Stephen up to boot laces. Soon warmed up though.
Rather have snow than tonight's cold rain.

Just a few scattered flurries so far here in RI. They melted when they landed. Yesterday the temp reached 65, which is just crazy!

Heavy snow this morning in Perthshire and Fife: saw 3 snow ploughs out last night before it all came, but where were they this morning? Driving back from Pitlochry in Perthshire to Edinburgh, the main road (A9) comes to a complete halt as drivers who haven't a clue how to drive on snow spin their wheels in first gear, doing various sideways dances on the white stuff!
