Everyone have a Happy Whatever You Celebrate(d), and one hell of a good, healthy, prosperous New Year--your choice 2 out of 3. Hint: If you pick healthy and prosperous, it will likely be good also. So you CAN have it all.

As 2015 ends and 2016 moves closer.

We will all say goodbye to 2015 with different emotions. It being the year that my wife died then I, for one, will not be sorry to see it gone.

But let's to look forward with hope to 2016 and I wish everyone a great Christmas or happy holiday according to your personal beliefs.

Most Muslims I know celebrate Christmas same as I do, although to be fair, few have a drink and even fewer have pigs in blankets for Xmas dinner. On Wednesday we are hosting a Xmas dinner party for doctor colleagues. My husband and I are the only ones stamped by society as vaguely Christian (not that we believe in fantasy.). Two Muslim couples and a Sikh couple. All exchanging presents and cards, all enjoying the occasion.

Many Muslims in The UK were born here, had the tradition of Xmas around them all their lives and just like the vast majority of us, enjoying Xmas is nothing to do with the present religion claiming it, the previous one based on Mithras or any superstition over thousands of years based on the shortest day in the northern hemisphere.

I often laugh about people who confuse the western tradition of Xmas with the dwindling religious cult who offer a quaint service around it.

A merry if for some confusing Xmas to you all.

Hi mate.

Yes, a merry Xmas to all. I get to stay sober on Xmas Day due to offering to drive as we go down to her brother's for dinner. I get to partake every other day though.

Just to add to his bit above, our halal utensils will get some use next Monday, assuming our friend Tahir remembers to bring the ruddy chicken this time..

Christmas is a traditional holiday. It is there for all, enjoyed by all of us wish it. For some, the main character is the Jesus myth, for others the Santa Claus myth, but good fun and family for all of us.

Well it's CHRISTMAS around here, and we even have a crib up in our house. A cherished long-passed relation made it for us. The dozens of baby Jesus cards we get are all proudly on display as I like visitors to know how popular I am. I might be peeling me spuds and sprouts to the repeat of the Nine Lessons And Carols. Otherwise, there'll be no bowing of heads or requests to a fake virgin or an insentient babe in straw for succour. The is about family, grub, booze and trying to forget that January is just around the corner. Which is exactly how it was always intended and how it should continue to be!
