I need to mail cds to those who were on the wonderful song of the salmon set of cds. It is just easier to give them to a canadian..and I will be seeing some soon..with some money and ask if they would take them to the post office and have them sent.

For one cd it is about 4.75 oz, and I googled grams at 135.

For four cds it is 13.46 oz or 391 g.

It looks like it is $2.95 for mailing one, and 5.15 for mailing 4, and points in between for 2 or 3...does that sound right?

Well, you might have better health care but we have media mail and can mail within US for pretty darn cheap after the first few ounces.

Mailing is certainly cheaper AND faster in the USA! When I want to mail something to someone in the US, I plan to do it when I am close to the border of Quebec/NYS. A pittance. They say Canada Post is making a profit. I certainly should be as it is frightfully expensive!

E-Mail it in a file attachment...won't cost you a penny.
The other person can load it to their computer, and burn a disc, if they want to...or they can load it to their i-pods, if it's music....and it weill get there, right NOW!!

You're lucky. Price to send a CD in jewel case to North America from the UK is currently £4.75 (that's pounds). The prices went through the roof when they were fattening the service up for privatization in 2013.

Don't send the CDs in jewel cases. There are many reasons why.

1) They increase the weight and send the mailing price to more than double.
2) People have them hanging around anyway.
3) They break in transit.

Put the CDs in the liner notes. That's all the protection they need if they are mailed in a stiff-cardboard envelope. That reduces weight and bulk. I have sent hundreds that way and never a problem.

GfS's idea is a good one.

As for the remarks about Canada Post, Canadians feel the same way. But then we have Trudeau and you have mass shootings, crooked cops, Wall Street and Donald Trump. So shove that where the sun don't shine.

All true, but buyers tend to expect the full package. I certainly wasn't suggesting mg used them (my recent releases are in card sleeves), just illustrating the ridiculous postal price.

These actually go to the performers..and there are a lot of them on these cds..probably around 40 if I were to count them all up...I doubt I will sell too many by mail..especially out of US. I will sell enough to break even and possibly pay my way to an event, camp etc. And I do have the option when I sell for people to either buy the jewel cases..will probably change that in the future..or just the cd itself in a paper sleeve and printout of the song details. I think you really need both..people really like the cheaper option but like to know that thee is something more officially out and they are getting a bargain.
