Subject: RE: BS: Winter Storm Regis From: Rapparee Date: 19 Mar 16 - 05:50 PM Huh? There are some clouds over Lanai'i, but the surf is fairly calm and the sky is bright blue and the temperature is about 80F and...oh, where YOU are! |
Subject: RE: BS: Winter Storm Regis From: Padre Date: 19 Mar 16 - 09:53 PM Yeah, nothing much here in the Alleghany Highlands except some rain. NOAA has nothing on its website about a winter storm Regis Padre |
Subject: RE: BS: Winter Storm Regis From: keberoxu Date: 20 Mar 16 - 08:56 AM This storm is supposed to be more selective than usual. If you live well inland, most likely you won't notice a thing. Right now the system is offshore, and rain, and well due south. Once it gets this far north, it will be heart-attack snow, wet, sloppy, and heavy. Downing of power lines and so on. Boom. |
Subject: RE: BS: Winter Storm Regis From: gnu Date: 20 Mar 16 - 11:36 AM A post from yesterday... As from previous posts, it's been a great winter. Lulled into a false sense of security by Old Man Winter, the bastard strikes Monday with a Nor'easter. Warnings/watches are out but alerts have yet to be issued and they may not be as the track is uncertain. Alas, the temperatures have dropped... -15C tonight... so this could be a real Nor'easter given that the cold air may stall the storm when it hits the Isthmus of Chignecto (The Isthmus of Chignecto is an isthmus bordering the Maritime provinces of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia which connects the Nova Scotia peninsula with North America.). I have seen us storm stayed for over three days with one of these late winter storms stalling over us but, given the weather over the last 15 years or so, even *I* have been lulled. Nonetheless, I welcome the vernal equinox in the early hours of the morrow. ******************************************************** Starting tomorrow morn : High -3°C, Snow 25-35 cm, Wind 30 km/h NE Gusting to 50 km/h. PFFFFT! You call that a storm? Why, when *I* was a lad.... >;-) I hope spring goes VERNAL! |
Subject: RE: BS: Winter Storm Regis From: keberoxu Date: 20 Mar 16 - 06:10 PM ....supposed to be at its peak during tomorrow morning's rush hour. Timing. |
Subject: RE: BS: Winter Storm Regis From: Joe Offer Date: 20 Mar 16 - 09:00 PM The Weather Channel (click) has a lot of coverage. We didn't call the aunties in Rhode Island Sunday to see how they're faring. Here in the Northern California foothills, we've had heavy rain again, which means snow over Donner Pass. The Sierra Nevada mountains are prettier than they've been in years. We've had one storm after another this year, after four years of drought. The wildflowers have been terrific. They should peak here sometime in April, and continue until the end of May - and through August at Donner Pass, not far from here. -Joe- |
Subject: RE: BS: Winter Storm Regis From: Jeri Date: 20 Mar 16 - 09:24 PM I still have snow tires on. I'm in the 3 - 5" zone, but it's really close to the 1 - 3" zone, and the temp is supposed to be above freezing, and I'm feeling a lot of "big, fat, hairy deal!" |
Subject: RE: BS: Winter Storm Regis From: keberoxu Date: 21 Mar 16 - 10:53 AM Timing and location, this one. Only a few heavy inches to brush off my parked car, but other places got more inches than we did. |
Subject: RE: BS: Winter Storm Regis From: gnu Date: 21 Mar 16 - 11:07 AM Truro is getting hammered... radar is in the reds. But, not far east and west of Truro it's a lot lighter. Just a long thin strip going directly over them. Moncton is light and the radar looks good for the next few hours... maybe 10 to 13 cm and little wind (so far). |
Subject: RE: BS: Winter Storm Regis From: gnu Date: 21 Mar 16 - 11:41 AM The highway cam in Truro tells a much different story that the Halifax radar. The wind is just to shift NE and pick up here but I really can't see that it will amount to anything. Then again, Mother Nature is sneaky... bring it on bitch! I'm getting bored. Looks like cleaning Mum's house and doing her laundry is the excitement for today. Not that that is necessarily a bad thing, especially after last winter which was far too exciting. |
Subject: RE: BS: Winter Storm Regis From: Rapparee Date: 21 Mar 16 - 12:26 PM You'll be living in an igloo All the live-long day, You'll be living in an igloo Just to keep the snow away! Can't you hear that wind a-blowing? Piling snow so early in the morn! Can't you hear yourself a-shoutin', "No! No more snow, by darn!" --Ancient New Brunswickian Folk Song, copped from the Americans. |
Subject: RE: BS: Winter Storm Regis From: GUEST,# Date: 21 Mar 16 - 01:23 PM They will rebuild. |
Subject: RE: BS: Winter Storm Regis From: gnu Date: 21 Mar 16 - 03:32 PM Rap... was that you in a GUEST post what had his coffee dumped in his lap on a flight? |
Subject: RE: BS: Winter Storm Regis From: ChanteyLass Date: 21 Mar 16 - 04:50 PM Not much here in my part of RI. I wish all snowstorms were like this. It even started overnight and was almost done by morning. |
Subject: RE: BS: Winter Storm Regis From: gnu Date: 21 Mar 16 - 10:44 PM PFFFT! Boring. A Nor'easter? More like a Snore'easter. Weather Terrorists on the TV and radio selling advertising spots was the real storm. Bastards like to scare the elderly. Pricks. Why they can't predict the weather any better than me is all about $. |
