Subject: RE: BS: Nixon and war on weed From: GUEST,# Date: 24 Mar 16 - 02:31 AM The following quotation is from Wikipedia. ' "The Nixon campaign in 1968, and the Nixon White House after that, had two enemies: the antiwar left and black people. You understand what I'm saying? We knew we couldn't make it illegal to be either against the war or black, but by getting the public to associate the hippies with marijuana and blacks with heroin, and then criminalizing both heavily, we could disrupt those communities. We could arrest their leaders, raid their homes, break up their meetings, and vilify them night after night on the evening news. Did we know we were lying about the drugs? Of course we did."[17] ' The following is a link to footnote 17. https://harpers.org/archive/2016/04/legalize-it-all/ |
Subject: RE: BS: Nixon and war on weed From: GUEST,# Date: 24 Mar 16 - 02:59 AM When it started: http://www.druglibrary.org/schaffer/hemp/taxact/anslng1.htm Oh, yes, that's our 'arry. But, that bullsh#t from a misinformed and ill-educated dolt is funny à la Reefer Madness b/w from 1936, an 'arry J Anslinger propaganda piece. It was worth the price of admission, and back in the day one could seldom leave the movie theater without at least a small 'buzz on' because the smoke at times was heavy enough to make a fog bank between the viewer and the screen. |
