BS: Cannot update iphone to iOS 9.3

I cannot update my iphone to ios 9.3 - when not connected to my PC, iphone shows error message when verifying update - "iOS 9.3 failed verification because you are no longer connected to the internet", even though it is.

When connected to itunes, I get error message - "itunes cannot read the contents of the iphone" with an invitation to restore iphone to factory settings - bad news because this will erase all contacts.
Anyone else experienced this? Any solution?

Out of interest, I haven't connected an iPhone to a computer in years. Far less hassle and more success keeping them physically apart. iCloud sorts any syncing.

I've had the same trouble with my iPhone 5S .. tells me I'm not connected to the internet when I am.

Settings/general/software update - delete update........hoooray!!!

now do again and it should say "iOS 9.2.1 Your software is up to date"

However, despite reinstalling iprunes it will still not recognise my iphone 4s.

OK problem solved - I googled "how do I uninstall itunes" and was linked to an Apple page which showed procedure for this various elements of itunes had to be uninstalled in the correct order. Previously I only uninstalled itunes, but Apple Application Support, Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile Device Support and "Bonjour" all need to be uninstalled as well.

I then reinstalled itunes which invited me to restore my iphone to iOS 9.2.1. That done, the iphone was once again recognised by iprunes!!!

I'm iPhone 5s too and I'm having the same issue. When I googled it one source said that you're in danger of disabling your phone completely if you persist. Irritatingly, I've been prompted to update three times now by Apple, in spite of the hazard. I understand that it's best to just wait for a bit. The bloody thing works fine as it is anyway! Grr...

Yesterday media reports flooded the tech world that Apple's big iOS 9.3 release was causing upgrade errors and now Apple has gone on record to confirm these issues…

Speaking to iMore, Apple confirmed activation problems for some users and a partial suspension of the upgrade:

"Updating some iOS devices (iPhone 5s and earlier and iPad Air and earlier) to iOS 9.3 can require entering the Apple ID and password used to set up the device in order to complete the software update. In some cases, if customers do not recall their password, their device will remain in an inactivated state until they can recover or reset their password. For these older devices, we have temporarily pulled back the update and will release an updated version of iOS 9.3 in the next few days that does not require this step."

Well its progress, if Apple are acknowledging there is a problem. It took a year to issue anything about their Java security issue 2 years ago, and that was as a late update.

Moore's Law only applies to the power density of hardware, not people. And if you could do the anaylsis not software either.

Remember the old adage: "measure twice, cut once"?
