Subject: BS: Happy Easter everyone! From: Dave the Gnome Date: 27 Mar 16 - 05:21 AM May sound strange from a non-Christian but it is the time of year for new life so, whatever you wish to call it, I hope you all have peace and plenty. :-) Best wishes from the Gnomehome! |

Subject: RE: BS: Happy Easter everyone! From: Steve Shaw Date: 27 Mar 16 - 06:37 AM Reciprocated. Though the next person who uses the expression "the clocks spring forward" within my earshot is liable to collect a fat lip. |
Subject: RE: BS: Happy Easter everyone! From: Dave the Gnome Date: 27 Mar 16 - 06:43 AM Its not so much the spring forward bit for me but the fall back! :-) |
Subject: RE: BS: Happy Easter everyone! From: Stilly River Sage Date: 27 Mar 16 - 09:14 AM Two weeks ago we suffered that clock trick in the US. My sympathy - I prefer the clock stay put year round and not walk around sleepy for a week. |
Subject: RE: BS: Happy Easter everyone! From: Steve Shaw Date: 27 Mar 16 - 11:07 AM I wonder why they call autumn "fall." Leaves dropping I suppose. But autumn is such a lovely word. On Radcliffe parks dept. we always called winter "t'back end." |
Subject: RE: BS: Happy Easter everyone! From: punkfolkrocker Date: 27 Mar 16 - 11:58 AM Ever since we lived together / got married.. 30 years... The wife has always left me on my own for the entire Easter bank holiday while she travelled to visit her family. Then this year for some reason, somehow, her family finally managed to find good enough excuse to avoid seeing her. So for the first time ever, me and the mrs are spending easter weekend together.... Easter was my getting music gear out in the front room and bedroom, and leaving it all out all where I wanted to.. Cowboy and War movies.. and maybe a bottle of whiskey if my bowels were up to it... Buggeration... probably be watching Rom Coms again tonight..... 😬 |

Subject: RE: BS: Happy Easter everyone! From: Steve Shaw Date: 27 Mar 16 - 05:30 PM Not quite so happy in Brussels, where a peaceful gathering of Muslims, Christians, Jews and atheists was attacked by fascists, and not quite so happy in Lahore where a Taliban suicide bomber slaughtered dozens of people near a children's playground. We've got a long way to go. :-( |
Subject: RE: BS: Happy Easter everyone! From: Donuel Date: 27 Mar 16 - 05:41 PM I will dig out my copy of Life of Brian to help celebrate during dinner ALWAYS LOOK ON THE BRIGHT SIDE OF LIFE |
Subject: RE: BS: Happy Easter everyone! From: Steve Shaw Date: 27 Mar 16 - 06:18 PM I had my dinner hours ago. Slow-roasted shoulder of lamb from the Bude butcher who has his own flock, roast spuds with tons of veg and mint sauce, gravy made with meat juices, then home-made ice cream, all washed down with a very nice Rioja. I'm fit to bust. Might just squeeze another glass of red down before bed... Or two... Or... |
Subject: RE: BS: Happy Easter everyone! From: keberoxu Date: 12 Apr 20 - 10:50 AM Happy to be alive and reasonably well, and for everyone else who is the same. |
Subject: RE: BS: Happy Easter everyone! From: David C. Carter Date: 12 Apr 20 - 11:28 AM We had the same as Steve had 4 years ago.No ice cream though. All washed down with a couple of bottles of Burgundy. Looking forward to this evening. Take care everyone. |
Subject: RE: BS: Happy Easter everyone! From: Steve Shaw Date: 12 Apr 20 - 11:38 AM We're having exactly the same grub as four years ago, David. Again, no ice cream this time. We had our "pudding" at lunch time - a huge wedge of Mrs Steve's simnel cake with extra bonus mini-eggs... And Rioja... it's lamb, dammit! |
Subject: RE: BS: Happy Easter everyone! From: David C. Carter Date: 12 Apr 20 - 11:47 AM At the moment we drink what we can get! It's a pretty strict lockdown here y'know. It'll be a single malt to start later, for an apero. Cheers. |

Subject: RE: BS: Happy Easter everyone! From: Dave the Gnome Date: 12 Apr 20 - 01:17 PM Happy zombie Jesus day to you all. They obviously didn't have undead horror stories in Palestine 2000 years ago or they would have run a mile :-)I Lamb shoulder for us too. Roast potatoes. Carrots. Red cabbage. Mint sauce made with cider vinegar (Not made by us - Morrisons) My wine of choice would have been a Tempranillo (tempranillo, temmpra-nillo-nillo-nillo) but Mrs G doesn't do red. One of the daughters had a nice white sent to us for Easter so I made made the ultimate sacrifice and helped her with that :-) The other daughter has made a lovely simnel came so I will have some of that later with a glass of malt and a slice of Wensleydale. Yes, I know I'm a philistine. |
Subject: RE: BS: Happy Easter everyone! From: Nigel Parsons Date: 12 Apr 20 - 02:34 PM "Fall" is an evocative word for that season. In my mind it is every bit as good as Autumn, and a lot easier to find rhymes for. 'Easter' is a Christian feast, seemingly taking its name from pre-Christian beliefs. |
Subject: RE: BS: Happy Easter everyone! From: Nigel Parsons Date: 12 Apr 20 - 02:35 PM Oh yes, in keeping with the thread: Happy Easter! |
