While Patty Duke's known for playing Helen Keller on stage and screen, she went on to play Annie Sullivan in a made-for-tv movie with Melissa Gilbert (Laura Ingalls, Little House on the Prairie) playing Helen.

Many years ago, when I was a land surveyor, I did a survey of the farm where "the Miracle Worker" was filmed. It was being turned into a development in Monmouth County, NJ.

She died of sepsis, treatable if caught early. Huffington Post article.

Is "sepsis" anything close to the "septicemia" battled by our valiant Norma Waterson? She spent at least three months bed-ridden. What a scare. And what a shame for Sean Astin and those who loved Patty Duke. Condolences.
