It has taken someone from the era of meaningful protests (the 1960s and 70s) to lead one now. As a somewhat younger American than Mr. Lewis I am embarrassed that successive generations don't really "get it" how these things should work. The Occupy movement fizzled - perhaps they'd like to try again now that they can see how it's really done.

The rep chairman called the DC police to have the Dems carried away.
The DC police dept. called the Sargent of arms and the Sargent of arms told the chairman to stop being a baby and work out his own political problems.

The Chairman made a speech of contrition near tears & received applause but the dems stayed in protest of demanding a vote on gun control at long last.

This kind of sit in has never before happened in Congress.

First Ryan closed Congress until July 8th but now he will allow a vote on two of the three compromise gun bills.

In the meantime, in the 20 years since the government banned the general ownership of handguns immediately following the 1996 Dunblane massacre, there have been precisely zero massacres in the United Kingdom. We have an average of 70 shooting-deaths per year, compared with 12,000 in the US.

When the going gets tough the tough go ballistic.

The second amendment is said to allow the people to wage a revolutionary war.

If this is true the NRA is now defending the ownership of military crowd killer rapid fire guns to Americans and its enemies foreign and domestic. Why should they stop there? They should then support heavier weapons like grenade launcher attachments, RPGs, artillery, bio weapons and Tactical mini nukes.

But the need to support a revolutionary war is not the real issue.

It is merely profits for gun manufacturers.

The NRA now only complicates issues for the respondsible gun owners.

Joe, I beg to differ, the right to life is greater than the right to vote.

Good luck and best wishes to all our US friends if they can find some way to neutralise the influence of the NRA, Republican and other cronies. Hopefully they'll also find some way of neutralising Trump too otherwise we might be dealing with 'boat people' heading our way from across the pacific :-(

Andrez, I think you missed what Joe was getting at. There is a very high correlation between screaming out supposed defense of the 2nd amendment and efforts to disenfranchise any demographics prone to voting anything but far right.
