I started a song challenge for new "Brexit" verses of "Separation Blues".

Now for another thread: this discussion is open for any other lyrics you know or make up about the European Union and/or the UK relation to it. Sorry - I don't know any yet and haven't composed any myself. Well, I wrote a sort of poem about leaving home, but it isnt singable.

You can write a brand new song or do a rewrite.Some popular songs I think may suit parodying are A Day in the Life ( Beatles' song - "I heard the news today, oh boy...") and "Who's Next?" by Tom Lehrer - - I've read of exit movements in the Netherlands, Sweden and Italy.

Schiller's Ode with Beethoven's tune is hard to beat.

or what about a parody of A Jug of Punch, which starts of with the date of the Brexit referendum
"It being on the twenty-third of June
As I sat weaving all on my loom"

Or perhaps Bob Dylan's It's all over now, Baby Blue - "You must leave now, take what you need, you think will last, But what ever you want to keep you better grab it fast"

I was unaware that the Faragists anticipated the future back in 2014 with the UKIP Calypso https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2014/oct/20/ukip-calypso-attempt-puerile-immigrants

that last message was meant for the Whither Political Song thread. Anyway, here are Amanda aMcLean's lyrics with German verse from Schiller https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtvb4cwXwfw

Freude, schöner Götterfunken,
Tochter aus Elysium,
Wir betreten feuertrunken,
Himmlische, dein Heiligthum.
Deine Zauber binden wieder,
Was die Mode streng getheilt;
Alle Menschen werden Brüder,
Wo dein sanfter Flügel weilt.

Farage, Gove and lying Boris - You who want your country back
So do we, you devious bastards - How do we give you the sack?
Wher is our three-fifty million? What on earth is wrong with you?
Never trust an old Etonian with your health, or the EU.

Boris, you have dropped us in it – there's no paddle in the boat that
Cameron's no longer steering - Will the UK stay afloat?
Sturgeon says she canny take it; Sinn Fein's feeling much the same;
Merkel soon will get hacked off with your procrastination game.

When we leave, Conservatives will still screw up the welfare state.
Jeremy's right on the money: it's no crime to immigrate.
We're fed up with little Hitlers playing to the racist louts.
Let's stay in the EU family. Nigel Farage - UKIP out.
