My sister-in-law is suffering from a wound on her leg.

A few years ago, I was seeing ads for a wound care center. Now I'm not seeing the ad any more.

Have you (or someone you know) been treated by a wound care center in the U.S.? Did it help? Did they seem legit?

I think they sound like a very good idea and I would be pretty sure they are as regulated as any medical facility, but check out their reviews etc. it would be nice to have a smaller facility, good parking, specialists in that area, all the supplies etc. right there...hopefully they are stringent about sanitation, with MRSA and flesh eating bacteria etc. but it would be easier to clean a smaller facility than a whole hospital...

Thanks for the link, Greg. I've already found that page. I'm interested in how real-world experiences compare to the theory of what a wound-care center does.

I have never heard of anything called a "wound-care center"... Here in the Wash DC metro area there are small 'prompt care' or 'urgent care' centers where all sorts of problems are treated.

Google hits

I once took a co-worker to one when he got something in his eye. There is a new center about 2 minutes from my house.

It's a very well-trained level of specialized care. Good ones have a high successful healing rate. Patient and family cooperation make a difference, as well.

It's not the same at all as Urgent Care centers, though they can also be good.

Word is that my sister-in-law's wound is getting better. It sounds like nobody is interested in the wound center option. So I've decided I've done what I can and will drop the matter.

I sent her some flowers, and word is that she loved them.

Virginia has such centers.

It was not the drug resistant kind so Ampicillin stopped the progression, otherwise I would have met Jim Henson.

Donuel, that is such terrible luck. I'm so glad the ampicillin worked.
