Subject: RE: BS: Question for my irish friends From: olddude Date: 18 Nov 16 - 04:43 PM It was in the wee hours and I had some really creepy things staring out of the broken windows. Was never happier to get out of there. Can't remember the name of it though.. Not far from the dolman |

Subject: RE: BS: Question for my irish friends From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 18 Nov 16 - 07:14 PM Now by rights you should have found yourself caught up in a night of dancing, with all the lights blazing, and woke up in the morning, 100 years later... Narrow escape there... |

Subject: RE: BS: Question for my irish friends From: leeneia Date: 18 Nov 16 - 09:40 PM Next time you'll have a statue of Our Lady on your dashboard, I'll bet. Creepy things that stare out of barred windows never mess with Her. Aside from that, did you enjoy your trip? What was your favorite part? |

Subject: RE: BS: Question for my irish friends From: Mrrzy Date: 19 Nov 16 - 11:22 AM I have a separate question for our Irish friends: Can my twins get Irish citizenship from being conceived there? -Grasping at straws but actually, it's a Catholic country, it might fly, no? |
Subject: RE: BS: Question for my irish friends From: Thompson Date: 20 Nov 16 - 01:08 AM Not far from the dolmen? Which dolmen? The Burren's aflock with dolmens! No, Mrzy, conception isn't any good for citizenship, but if they have an Irish grandparent… |
Subject: RE: BS: Question for my irish friends From: Mrrzy Date: 20 Nov 16 - 12:51 PM The family was in Ireland in the 1600's on their way to the New World but it's a little farther back than the grandparents... |
Subject: RE: BS: Question for my irish friends From: olddude Date: 20 Nov 16 - 02:02 PM Yes there are many dolmans but it is the cool one always photographed. By the way the little flowers all over in the summer are beautiful. I guess some only grow there and no place else |
Subject: RE: BS: Question for my irish friends From: Thompson Date: 21 Nov 16 - 12:37 AM The flowers in the Burren are rare Alpine plants - beautiful little gentians, bee orchids, etc snuggling into the rocks of the moonscape-like hills. Mrrzy, the 17th century Plantations are no good for citizenship, I'm afraid. Only chance is to send them over to work and they could seek naturalisation :) |
Subject: RE: BS: Question for my irish friends From: Jim Carroll Date: 21 Nov 16 - 04:00 AM MAIRE RUADH During the making of the film 'Derby O'Gill and the Little People, the ruin of a castle (most of the 'castles' in Ireland are actually fortified Tower Houses) further into the Burren was used for a location. There's a story told here in Miltown Malbay of when Walt Disney visited our local music bar, Friels, with his entourage, during the filming - the bar was run at the time by the legendary formidable couple, Maisie and Tómas Friel (The Tailor and Ansty, writ large). Disney established himself in the armchair in the kitchen, surrounded by his courtiers and at one stage of the evening, he turned to the landlord and said, "Tell me Tómas - do you believe in fairies?" Tomas replied, "Wasn't there one sitting in that very chair only last week". Disney leapt to he feet and disappeared out of the door with his little army of followers, drove out of Miltown and were never seen again..... Jim Carroll |
