Jake Tapper, the newsman, the other day stumbled over the Donald's name, pronouncing it 'Dronald Tump'.

That made me go look it up and now I know what that stuff on top of his head is: A 'tump' is a Clump of Vegetation.

You heard it here first.

A tump is a small mount in the UK! A slag heap in the Midlands. - Appropriate?

As in the Welsh for ceilidh - Twmpath. In that case more like a burial mound with a footpath below. The musos on the elevated bit and the dancers on the flat.

We have a burial mound near us called Sodger's Tump. They built a machine gun nest on the top in case the Germans invaded.

Here's another trump discovery - he's discovered Reaganomics, which were an absolute failure.

But that's no reason not to try again, apparently.

"■ Mr. Trump's tax cuts will be huge, with the corporate tax rate dropping to 15 percent from 35 percent. Mr. Mnuchin said:

"This will be the largest tax change since Reagan. ... We're going to cut corporate taxes, which will bring huge amounts of jobs back to the United States. We're going to get to 15 percent, and we're going to bring a lot of cash back to the U.S."

Heil Trump!

It took 8 to 12 years for the John Does of this country to discover that the Bush buffoon was a puppet for the neo con war machines and Wall Street corruption.

Trump can build a fervor with Loyalty to him, Patriotism to him and a cry for revenge that makes 9-11 puny. A call for expulsion will include citizens.

But will he?

Bannon would. The 3 billionaires in his cabinet would.

But kind sensible people like the Joes of America say nothing and honestly don't know. They need to see Trump Troopers knock down neighbor doors first.

People often disregard intuitives like myself. Instead they wait until the they are choked by the smoke of the wildfire before they run hide or fight.

One day Donald will deny his tweet that expulsion from the US will be a civil punishment. But he did tweet that banishment from the US for flag burning is a priority of his.

The 1001 lies and techniques of propaganda, uniting mutual hatreds and his overarching need for loyalty can and has been analyzed one by one.
This process passes for journalism. But instead of being reactive to all these fascist techniques I propose we weaken all of these propaganda techniques and lies by putting them under one heading we can refer to as trumpnosis. Say no to Trumpnosis.

I'm a bit confused about this revocation of citizenship thing. I was born in the US. My parents and grandparents were born in the US. Further back than that, I have no idea where any of my ancestors came from. If I burn a flag and Trump revokes my citizenship, where's he going to send me back to? There's no other country that would be obligated to take me, and probably none that would even want me. Would I be doomed to spend the rest of my life stuck in an airport like Mehran Karimi Nasseri?

As evidenced by the Trump thank you tour rallies, facts do not matter, it is the All drama Trumpnosis that is in play.
In contrast with no drama Obama, Barak relied upon truth to carry the day. Trumpnotic performances have no connection with the idea of truth or even common sense.

The Trump thank you tour is not policy or issue driven except to say "I won! I am wonderfully right and the media is terribly wrong." The one thing Donald has never achieved is acceptance by the New York elite. His skin is thinnest regarding being snubbed by the elite. Remember this Achilles heel.

I am just about convinced that Trump is not really concerned that he knows so little, because he fully intends that Pence shall fill the role of the president. He has said as much, that his role will be to "make America great again', which I assume will be a full time job. As they say, '=watch this space.

It is really all your fault, you took your eyes off the ball you did not see that Mrs Clinton was unelectable...even against Mr Trump who campaigned without Party support.

You were taken in by "liberal" talking points like "the glass ceiling", when most folks are interested in providing for their families.

The voting system in America is so weird that there are many ways to fix the votes (one of which is not counting them for instance). Bernie had far more votes than Clinton but not the money to match. He stood down as the democrat vote was so split and fiddled that they were sure to lose if they didn't show a united front. Sadly they lost anyway.

I've said it before and I'll say it again (it's what we do on Mudcat political threads😉): Bernie Sanders wouldn't have stood a cat in hell's chance against Trump's populism. Never in a million years in a country in which "commie," "left-wing" and "socialist" are dirty words. In hindsight, as Clinton lost, his campaign would have been far more civilised and might just have changed a few things in the long run. But there was no way he could have beaten Trump. Dream on.

Ake, You should not be surprised to discover yourself to be an irredeemable person. Folk music has been rejected by your soul along with all its lessons unlearned.

Insignificantly you will soon find out what you are worth in the days to come soldier. Your ideas originate and end with death.
You can't kill or cull your way out of our problems and annoyances.
You only think you can. When will you ever learn?

Nazis thought they could, American killers of the Indians thought they could and so do the me/them people like yourself. Believe me you are not alone. Here you are a symptom, a symbol.

In the meantime think about who taught you well about the surfaces of things but none of the depth.

Study the nature and origins of ideas.
Own or reject your ideas.
Only then can a man speak of ideology.

What you called debate is really hate.
What you called argument is a cross eyed snipers game.
The final battle is death all the same by accident or intent.
But a coward like you just complains others live.

Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year !
-- discover the spirit of ideas --

Well, looks like the Austrians are considerably smarter than the USAsians.

VIENNA — Austria's voters rejected a far-right candidate for president on Sunday, the climax of a bitter yearlong campaign that was widely watched across Europe as a measure of how high fringe parties could climb in mainstream politics.

The election, normally a sleepy, provincial contest for a largely ceremonial post, had Europeans on edge for its potential to send yet another jolt to political establishments in a year when far-right populist forces have advanced on both sides of the Atlantic.

It was widely viewed as a test of the anti-migrant and anti-Muslim forces that have ridden a populist path to power in Hungary, Poland and the UK and have gained strength in France and even in Germany and the United States since the election of Donald J. Trump.

You just couldn't make this stuff up. Of course, both Trump and his father employed segregation in their housing projects.

President Obama's civil-rights legacy looked on track, not long ago, to include a major push against America's deeply entrenched housing segregation. In 2015, his administration rolled out a rule requiring local communities to assess their own patterns of racial and income segregation and make genuine plans to address them.

The move followed years of debate and came as segregated cities like Baltimore and Chicago faced renewed bouts of racial unrest. The federal government, advocates hoped, was finally trying to repair a long-unkept promise of the 1968 Fair Housing Act.

Now that rule is likely to be undermined — and possibly erased — by a Department of Housing and Urban Development headed by Ben Carson.

Diane Yentel, the president of the National Low Income Housing Coalition, said Mr. Carson's interpretation of the rule as a social experiment "reveals a fundamental misunderstanding of obligations that have been around since 1968." The Fair Housing Act passed that year included two mandates: one banning discrimination in the housing market, and the other requiring local communities to "affirmatively further" the fair-housing goal of integration.

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/23/upshot/how-ben-carson-at-housing-could-undo-a-desegregation-effort.html

And the there's this on the sort of folks who will be running the country:

Fake news, but real bullets.

A gunman entered a popular Washington pizza restaurant that had been the target of harassment after a fake news article said it was the base of a child abuse ring, firing his weapon before being arrested on Sunday and escalating fear in what is normally a quiet neighborhood.

The episode at Comet Ping Pong in northwest Washington severely escalated what had already been a tense period after false rumors began to spread that the restaurant was somehow tied to a child abuse ring run by Mrs. Clinton and her campaign chairman, John D. Podesta.

That might sound far-fetched, but it led to dozens of threats against its employees by email and on social media.

Even the son of retired Lt. Gen. Michael T. Flynn, picked to be Mr. Trump's national security adviser, was still trafficking in the so-called Pizzagate conspiracy theory Sunday night.

Michael G Flynn🇺🇸 @mflynnJR
Until #Pizzagate proven to be false, it'll remain a story. The left seems to forget #PodestaEmails and the many "coincidences" tied to it. 10:13 PM - 4 Dec 2016

And then, there is the intellectual[sic] quality of Trump and The Trumpists:

There are disturbing signs about how a Trump administration will conduct itself, from the early diplomatic blunders that signal a worrisome break in the continuity of protocol, to his team nursing vendettas and continuing to dangle the threat of jail in front of his opponents.

To add insult to injury, Trump surrogate Scottie Nell Hughes uttered this jaw-dropping line last week on The Diane Rehm Show:

"One thing that has been interesting this entire campaign season to watch is that people that say facts are facts; they're not really facts. Everybody has a way, it's kind of like looking at ratings or looking at a glass of half-full water. Everybody has a way of interpreting them to be the truth or not true." She continued: "There's no such thing, unfortunately, anymore of facts."

Folks, Dimwit-ism is a disease easily spread and denigrators of the absolutism of truth are its vectors. This is why resistance isn't only principled, but essential and even existential.

God Damn AmeriKKKa

That's the problem.

I suppose you also agree with Gen. Flynn that Clinton and Podesta were running a child pornography ring out of a Washington pizzaria.

Surely the point is that it's all your fault . You weren't paying attention to what was happening to a huge sector of your electorate, you were content to see social "progressiveness", what about the economy stupid......manipulating people through social policies that most people in their hearts disagree with, allowing mass immigration when a large part of society is poor and jobless.....then you put up a candidate that all but a few feminists hate and allowing your only hope of success to be cheated out of the candidacy by the Party that you claim to be democratic.

How could you get so many things wrong so often.....go sit in rot of a mirror a howl your insults......I did warn you several times and you said I was an ignorant bigot without a clue about US politics.

Looks like the Vice POS elect is as facile a liar as the POS elect!

On Tuesday morning, after the post had attracted national attention and it was reported that Mr. Flynn had a transition team email address, Vice President-elect Mike Pence denied that Mr. Flynn had ever worked for the team, saying on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" that he had "no involvement in the transition whatsoever."

But later in the morning, Jason Miller, a transition spokesman, tacitly acknowledged that Mr. Flynn had worked for the transition, saying in a conference call that Mr. Flynn was now no longer involved.

Anmd daddy Flynn - who posted the same BS - still has his job.

That makes 3 generals with more to potentially come.

A Putin connection to Rex Tillerman CEO of Exxon has been discovered.
!0 years ago Rex was given the highest civilian Russian award for the business deal which opens the Artic and Gulf of Mexico to Russian drilling. Rex is considered for US Secretary of State.

The last time Russia gave such an award was to 2 American Naval Commanders who saved a Soviet submarine two hours before their air ran out.

For Education Dept Trump has promoted Betsy deVoss who is fundamentally against Public Education, however she is in favor of parochial schools.

What sets these folks apart from the rest of the Cabinet is that they are neither billionaires or Generals.

To be loyal to Trump you must be willing to die for a conspiracy theory.

Trump's Labor Pick, Andrew Puzder,
Is Critic of Minimum Wage Increases

By NOAM SCHEIBER
DEC. 8, 2016

President-elect Donald J. Trump on Thursday chose Andrew F. Puzder, chief executive of the company that franchises the fast-food outlets Hardee's and Carl's Jr. and an outspoken critic of the worker protections enacted by the Obama administration, to be secretary of labor.

On policy questions, he has argued that the Obama administration's recent rule expanding eligibility for overtime pay diminishes opportunities for workers, and that significant minimum wage increases would lead to job losses. He has criticized paid sick leave policies of the sort recently enacted for federal contractors.

Speaking to Business Insider this year, Mr. Puzder said that increased automation could be a welcome development because machines were "always polite, they always upsell, they never take a vacation, they never show up late, there's never a slip-and-fall or an age, sex or race discrimination case."

Richard L. Trumka, president of the A.F.L.-C.I.O., said Mr. Puzder was "a man whose business record is defined by fighting against working people."

Throughout the history of the nation, more than 99 percent of Electors have voted as pledged. Where does it leave democracy if the electors vote against the electorate and Trump loses the Presidency?
Furthermore is it likely there would be an orderly transition should this occur?

You know, I've read various versions of just WHY the Electoral College. The one that makes the most sense to me:

The founding fathers (no mothers there) wanted a representative government but when it came down to it, they didn't quite trust the voice of the people. For fairly good reasons, actually: many people were illiterate, many were in remote places where the vicissitudes of politicians and policies were late in reaching them; often, news reached them literal weeks after an event. Therefore the fathers instated a body of better educated, more elite, more aristocratic if you will, men (again, no females) that would have the last word in an election.

at about 6:20 minutes in he compares the size of a fly brain and what it can do, with a human brain. then 10 seconds later a picture of Trumpy comes up and he progresses to propose the Trump number.

This being: "Size of the behavioral repertoire" divided by "the number of neurons".

And he firmly believes that the inequality goes with Trumpy!

Speaking of early voices, the October 22 issue of The Atlantic had a long article on the politics of our election year. In passing, they made frequent mention of Trump's abilities (Democrat O'Malley, when asked how he would handle it if he were the nominee who had to debate Mr. Trump, said he would handle it as if Trump were "a monnkey with a machine gun". Over and over in the article - mind you, this was long before Election Day and at a time when Secretary Clinton seemed comfortably ahead - various people were quoted giving their opinions of Donald Trump. Devastating stuff.

And then we - the American people - elected him.
