I'm interested in buying an antique car in Chevey Chase, and I'd like someone in the DC area to check it out for me. My eyesight is good, but 600 miles is a bit out of my range. Would anyone want to look this over for me? I'd like to come and see it myself, but it's expensive what with travel and lodging etc.

Yes. If it passes inspection, I would fly into DC and somehow get to Chevy Chase, arrange to get it shipped to Maine. It's quite an undertaking. I hate to fly. Let me contact the owner, and get back to you. I'd be glad to pay you for your time.

If it is a dealer they know how to truck it to your door. 200-400
If not you can remotely hire truck transport for the car $300-400
At any rate its cheaper than your plan.
Its none of my business but...
Sight unseen is dangerous so expect I might try to burst your bubble.
So motivation is good to know.
Sometimes it is for parked decoration, restoration, drivability and just plain fun.

Chevy Chase is a very expensive area {wall St of Washington)
I have a thirty year streak going of not taking a red cent from the public so I don't want to break it.

Rap blew a seal once but that is his business. Not that there is anything wrong with that. To register an antique car it has to be 20 years old. Most planes are older. If the car took leaded gas you too could blow a seal and have valve problems. They need conversions.
Transports very greatly by per mile charges.
Most people pay to much for nostalgia
But every now and then everything goes right

Donuel, You can buy lead additive on the net. I used it in my 1963 Morris Minor, every fourth tank full you add 25 millelitres. That was ina 5 gallon tank.

Try having the car brought to a place of his choosing or a dealers lot.. However if something is fishy now it will be fishy (or full of mistrust) later.

If we all knew the make&model you would have a lot of eyes.

Besides if he is squeamish dealing with senior citizens he should deal with juveniles with fast cars in need of quick cash. :>)
