Just curious to know whether anyone else has been fascinated by the "Invisible Italy" series of 3 programmes on BBC1 (UK) - which incorporates the most incredible 3D technological scans of the main buildings.

The scanning is utterly fascinating and shows the cities' structures as never before.

Invisible Italy - BBC1 - 12 days left to watch now Something's wrong with my Flash player so I can't watch until I get it sorted out.

But the series looks great.

We use the same technology to scan dinosaur skeletons.

We love Italy and we thought the programmes were wonderful. We've been to Naples and Venice and we're now fired up for Florence! Might have to wait for a while as we've got Lake Como and Madeira lined up for this year. Great to be retired and able to go at cheap times!

I've only seen the Naples programme so far, but found it truly memorable viewing, especially as I've walked above many of the tunnels depicted. Wouldn't mind rescuing one of the old cars stranded down in the darkness!

There was a similar programme recently which mapped out all the tombs and passages under the Valley of the Kings. Staggering.
