Subject: BS: London Marathon From: Senoufou Date: 23 Apr 17 - 04:48 AM Just wanted to wish all the runners 'good luck' and 'well done'. I've seen quite a few folk running in the roads around Norfolk recently in training. A friend from our last village (Horsham St Faith), Mandy Foyster, used to run in it, raising funds for the village school. She was as thin as a whippet from all the training! I couldn't break into even a trot nowadays, although aged twelve I was in the Cross Country Running team for our school. I shall watch it on TV. I adore that music which they always play (Ron Goodwin's 'The Trap' from the 1966 film of the same name, with Oliver Reed and Rita Tushingham, set in Canada.) |
Subject: RE: BS: London Marathon From: Steve Shaw Date: 23 Apr 17 - 05:36 AM Good old Brendan. I'll miss him. He's already commented on the "colourfulness" of the runners, and he's come out with a pearl of wisdom, that if you're the second fastest marathon runner in the world and you want to be the fastest marathon runner in the world, what you have to do is -- attack it! Steve Cram just about rescued himself after calling the royals who kicked off the race "celebs!" |

Subject: RE: BS: London Marathon From: Bonzo3legs Date: 23 Apr 17 - 11:25 AM Completely forgot about it, I was changing duvet cover this morning - always a chore but seemed even more so today with my wife away in hospital. How's this for nonsense - a catering lady scolded us for leaving trays on the floor after finishing a meal, guess why?? "health & safety" and yet when she brough me my soup yesterday evening, the plate covering the bowl of like warm soup was scalding hot - no "health & safety" there!!! Anyway, I do admire these folks who took part. |
