Subject: BS: why was I locked out? From: Stanron Date: 04 May 17 - 09:33 PM I have not been able to access mudcat cafe for the last week. Why? Is it because Jim Carrol accused me of being 'Far right'? Is Mudcat implementing a solidarity left wing adgenda, ban all the fascists (as labelled by Jim Carrol) or what? Why have I been excluded from the site for the last week? |
Subject: RE: BS: why was I locked out? From: bobad Date: 04 May 17 - 09:35 PM Big windstorm chez Max - trees down, power lines ripped off his house - Mudcat central. |
Subject: RE: BS: why was I locked out? From: Stanron Date: 04 May 17 - 09:53 PM OOPS It seems I was a bit previous. Apologies all round. Particularly to Jim Carrol. Sorry. |
Subject: RE: BS: why was I locked out? From: robomatic Date: 04 May 17 - 11:06 PM My sympathies for Max and his environs. I too could not access the website and I went to the 'finder' site: "isitdownrightnow.com" or "downforeveryoneorjustme.com" and learned right away that it was a website problem. No need to fear the reaper! |
Subject: RE: BS: why was I locked out? From: punkfolkrocker Date: 04 May 17 - 11:27 PM I don't do facebook.. but remembered a breakaway splinter mudcat group might be carrying on over there.. so googled and found Max's entry explaining the treefall catastrophe... Just shows how shite facebook is compared to real mudcat.. within a day or so Max's very important message was submerged under all sorts of trivial promotional vanity ephemera... Welcome back real mudcat !!! |
Subject: RE: BS: why was I locked out? From: leeneia Date: 05 May 17 - 12:42 AM A huge storm swept across the southern U.S. recently, heading northeast. It knocked down lines in Max's area, but in Missouri it was far worse. Parts of southern Missouri received 9 inches of rain in one day, and the rain continued thereafter. That much rain combined with the steep slopes of ancient Ozark terrain led to terrible flooding. People were swept away and drowned, either on foot or in cars. Towns are destroyed, roads and bridges are out. |
Subject: RE: BS: why was I locked out? From: Joe Offer Date: 05 May 17 - 01:15 AM Max's house is in State College, Pa. I've been to Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, Harrisburg and Johnstown, Allentown and Bethlehem and Easton, Slippery Rock and Butler, Erie and Scranton, to Gettysburg and Valley Forge, to York and even to Ohiopyle - but somehow I never got to State College. Max seems to have at least one wild storm a year, so I'm getting the impression he lives in some sort of Tornado Alley. But hey, he seems to like it there. -Joe- (click)

Subject: RE: BS: why was I locked out? From: Jim Carroll Date: 05 May 17 - 01:58 AM "Particularly to Jim Carrol. Sorry." Apologies accepted - thought it was you insulting me by spelling my name wrong!! nice to see y'all Jim Carroll |
Subject: RE: BS: why was I locked out? From: Senoufou Date: 05 May 17 - 02:35 AM Poor Max and everyone affected by the storm. Must have been really frightening. I hope there hasn't been too much damage and repairs have been swift! I've really missed Mudcat. I too began to think I'd said something awful and had been banned. :) Lovely to be back. Hello everyone! |
Subject: RE: BS: why was I locked out? From: Mr Red Date: 05 May 17 - 02:38 AM As PM May would say: the Mudcat wasn't locked and you came too late to the party. |
Subject: RE: BS: why was I locked out? From: akenaton Date: 05 May 17 - 03:00 AM I was beginning to enjoy the peace and quiet. oh well, once more into the breech I suppose. |
Subject: RE: BS: why was I locked out? From: Will Fly Date: 05 May 17 - 03:37 AM Good to see you putting a leg in to your trousers, Ake - I hope both legs get in and the breeches fit. |
Subject: RE: BS: why was I locked out? From: Rapparee Date: 05 May 17 - 08:38 AM They're supposed to FIT? |
Subject: RE: BS: why was I locked out? From: Jos Date: 05 May 17 - 09:17 AM If you are not sure whether it was just you being locked out, a quick glance down the list of topics shows that nobody posted anything between 1 May and 4 May - a dead giveaway that it affected everyone. |
Subject: RE: BS: why was I locked out? From: punkfolkrocker Date: 05 May 17 - 09:21 AM yeah.. odd that.. seems to be a lot less material around the waist and arse in brand new XXXL trousers than in previous years...??? Mudcat should launch an investigation into this troubling issue... |
Subject: RE: BS: why was I locked out? From: Mrrzy Date: 05 May 17 - 10:33 AM For once I was not the paranoid one, I assumed website trouble when I couldn't get in, and not ostracism... Every time I showed up at the wrong place for something last year, when my mental state was shakier, I thought there was a conspiracy to leave me out of the fun. Why aren't they here? Why didn't they tell me? And then it was me in the wrong place, every time. I am easily confused. And suffer from FOMO. And the other acronym. And what is this Facebook thing? |
Subject: RE: BS: why was I locked out? From: Stanron Date: 05 May 17 - 12:14 PM I suppose I was being a bit paranoid. Paranoid as a rat would be unfair, but not so long ago I was locked out for a few days and when I was able to ask about it a mod informed me that my computer number was similar to one that was blocked for spamming and the mistake got corrected. I'm not on farcebook or misspace and found no reference to a general Mudcat failure on the Session or anywhere else online. I thought it was just me. Glad to see it is back online. |
Subject: RE: BS: why was I locked out? From: akenaton Date: 05 May 17 - 12:32 PM Ach we wear the kilt when debatin' Will.......keeps the temperature doon...eh? :0) |
Subject: RE: BS: why was I locked out? From: Gallus Moll Date: 05 May 17 - 02:47 PM I want to know the identity of Ony ) (Onny?) who got barred from the Footstompin forum a year of three ago- - - - - -sadly Footstompin is no more now, was updated and modernised and I canny figure out how to get to if any more! (So I just read Simon Thoumire's newsletters -- but oh how I miss the discussions -- - ) |
Subject: RE: BS: why was I locked out? From: akenaton Date: 05 May 17 - 03:46 PM John J's yer man Gallus, he posts here occasionally and apparently knew Onny very well. He is also one of the nicest and most helpful posters on any of the Trad music forums. Unfortunately he is somewhat inhibited by a penchant for fence sitting, which must be both frustrating for other posters and exceedingly painful for John. :0) |
Subject: RE: BS: why was I locked out? From: Mr Red Date: 05 May 17 - 03:52 PM fence sitting on posters - the mental images won't go away. |
Subject: RE: BS: why was I locked out? From: Jack Campin Date: 07 May 17 - 05:37 AM Onny once emailed me giving his real name, but he didn't want it publicized. Give me your real name in an email and I'll pass it on. |
Subject: RE: BS: why was I locked out? From: Tattie Bogle Date: 07 May 17 - 08:39 PM Sorry to say that Onny is no longer of this world: passed away a year or 2 back. You might well have known him, GM. Tell you when I next see you. |
