It looks like the tories will not have a majority, that is a great achievement for someone who has been charcter assassinated by the likes of the daily wail, and Viscount Rothermere the tax exile who pretends to be apatriot

William Cobbett for the 21st century. A fine battler for the underdog on his home turf, but loses it completely when Scotland comes into the picture.

He has proved himself to be a man of integrity, unlike those who have opposed him. In spite of the campaign led by the gutter press barons and the backstabbing within his own parliamentary party he has awoken a feeling of enablement in the young and the disenfranchised. He has shown ordinary people that we do not have to put up with the career politicians and money grubbers that we have had for years.

Long may it so continue.

Subject: RE: Jeremy Corbyn is a great man
From: Teribus

Cannot for the life of me see what makes him so great, or where saying that you are going to grant things to all, knowing full well that you will never be called upon to make good on your promises is the sign of leadership or greatness.

Last night was not as bad as it could have been. The pundits stated that the Labour vote came from the young. Corbyn promised them free tuition and the cancelling of existing Student loans to those currently at University - no wonder he got their votes. Had Labour actually won last night they would never have been able to make good on the promise without seriously damaging the Universities in England and Wales - because education is not free and sorry chaps the increase in Corporation Tax and hammering the top 5% would not raise revenue sufficient to stretch like a plastic plaster to cover everything else Labour had it marked down to pay for. Labour's answer is to borrow, i.e. just kick the can down the road and leave it future generations to pick the bill up - that is no different to what Blair and Brown did and we are all fully aware of what that led us to.

The so-called "Dementia Tax" increased the amount a person could keep by a factor of four and made it possible for payment to be made post-mortem. This was somehow seen as being something toxic compared to what currently exists whereby having paid into the NHS through Tax and National Insurance a person who has worked all their life has to realise any assets over the value of £23,500 while they are alive to pay for their care - no consideration given to the wife or spouse who must vacate the family home and then become a burden on the state as it would be up to the local council to then house him/her when the husband or wife goes into residential "care".

Thankfully, Brexit will go ahead, there is nothing anybody can do to stop it, the Bill has been passed by Westminster and Article 50 has been triggered. Theresa May and the Europhiles in her party brought us to where we are today and she should be compelled to remain as leader of the government until after the Brexit negotiations have been concluded that is what she committed to the day she put herself forward for leadership of a Conservative Party in Government. At least she will make a far better fist of it than Corbyn & Co.

At least Corbyn has personal integrity, and his promise to drop tuition fees would give a boost to HE and research in our universities which has been hit hard by the idiocy of Brexit and the ending of the free movement of people.

May is a different sort of person and to achieve her aims might have to get in bed with the DUP, as nasty a bunch of right-wing bigots and dimwits as you're likely to find anywhere; just when we had got rid of the kippers too. That these people might hold the balance of power in the UK is a joke; if May allows it then the tories will have lowered themselves further than I thought they ever would.

Well, Mike, manifesto pledges and election promises are more intended as a statement of direction rather than guarantees. All politicians make themselves hostage to fortune. We were supposed to have no deficit by 2015, remember? Theresa May was the long-time Home Secretary who presided over immigration reaching a third of a million despite the promise of 'tens of thousands." Now she's going to get "tough on it." The LibDems promised no increase in tuition fees. Etcetera. They all do it. Even parties who know they are going to be in power. They hope that the electorate will have forgotten by the time of the next election down the road.

Involvement with DUP has already reduced any Brexit bargaining powers Mayfly has (or thought she had)
Brexit will have such an adverse influence on the politics and economy of the Six Counties that it would be political suicide for any party there to give carte blanche support to Britain in any negotiations
This gives some idea of the FRAGILE POSITION the D.U.P. finds itself in without signing off on a hard border, non- movement of job-seekers and a shrinking economic position
It seems Mayfly's bullet through the foot is quite likely to take out one of Arlene's tootsies as well

Me too
I still have fond memories of a tearful Thatcher being driven away from Downing Street when her colleagues had taken away her favourite toys
"Every politician for him/herself" tends to be the order of the day in this situation.
I watced to a Tory MP savaging his leader on camera last night (with a degree of pleasure, I'm not shamed top admit) - it's not often that we are not the ones getting shafted

We are hearing a profound silence from.ministers and senior Tories. That seems a good indication to be that backroom discussions are in full flow. I dont particularly see a 'plot' to overthrow May because the Tory party is sufficiently ruthless about what they decide a plot is rarely needed. What is more likely is that it is clear to them them all their options, including staying as they are, carry great risks.

It may take days for them to decide the stratefy. When the first of the notables speaks, it is likely to be clear what they have decided.

Ruth Davidson is already distancing herself from May. What she achieved in Scotland for the Tories was a rare example of Tory sure-footedness. Watch that space. Also, it's worth watching the ones who keep their heads down. Or those who are going to claim spurious loyalty to the completely-stuffed May. Think Bozza and David Davis. It would all be so bloody hilarious if the country wasn't totally screwed up by brexit. Note that Merkel, Junker and co. are already sitting at the table rubbing their hands together, saying come along now, Theresa, we're ready for you, 9.30 this morning if you like! Jesus, what a bloody mess.

You mean the same way he must have known he could never win the party leadership, or destroy Theresa May's majority?

Never say never when it comes to predictions.

In face of overwhelming opposition from the press, the commentatoariat and the career politicians in the Commons, he has enabled the Labour Party to recover from a deadly sickness, and. Back to vigorous life.

Most of the career politicians have been returned under the Labour banner......They are now more dangerous than ever, the best hope for Mr Corbyn was to have the Party split into Socialist or Social Dems.

The soft left love talking about socialism, but putting it into practice hurts too much for todays self indulgent "lefties".

The reason being that we oldies thought that we could make things happen.....but the things we made happen had fuck all to do with the political process......only in destroying a reasonably cohesive society.

But a lot of the sneers against Jeremy has been that he's trying to take the Labour Party back to its old ways, aken. And though they say "back to the Seventies" the policies Jeremy is centrally identified with are in some ways much more "back to the Forties", and all the better for that. Public ownership, public organisation, recognising the imprtance of the Unions.

And of course that involved a different kind of Austerity, which we are going to need.

In terms of the politics of the 45 government, it would be absurd to paint Corbyn as a wild extremist.
