Subject: RE: BS: McCain the Mensch! From: keberoxu Date: 25 Oct 17 - 02:39 PM Reading the daily Arizona Republic for the last time before I return my rental car and head for the airport and the flight back North and East. Senators McCain and Flake dominate the headlines. Columnist Laurie Roberts on Sen. Flake introducing himself to candidate Trump. Quote: "Who can forget his introduction to the then-surging candidate, when he said: 'I'm the other senator from Arizona -- the one who didn't get captured -- and I want to talk to you about statements like that. ' " If this works, the following blicky will link to McCain's comments to the Senate after Flake's speech. Sen. McCain on Sen. Flake |
Subject: RE: BS: McCain the Mensch! From: Donuel Date: 25 Oct 17 - 08:53 AM The model of the new conservative is like the shock jocks on radio for decades. You must be angry and course, you must obey a loyalty Oath to Trump. You must extort, lie and obfuscate with uncompromising furor. The risk of treason is only now being discussed among cowards. A few loyalists will decry fake news all the way to court. waiting on Mueller is a dangerous game of chicken with the threat of nuclear war in our headlights. This POV is no longer a cry in the darkness. |
Subject: RE: BS: McCain the Mensch! From: Donuel Date: 24 Oct 17 - 09:03 PM If you believe that it is not where you are from but where you are at, where the Republicans are at now is where the old guard are gone or quiet cowards. Today the WINNERS of Republican primaries in the computer zoned gerrymandered, voter suppressed districts are all going to be "THE CRAZIEST SOBs in the race" They will all try to out do each other for the harshest tone, the narrowest minds and the most debased actions. They will be as cruel as Ben Carson is dumb and numb. While the trump machine tries to impeach Hillary and lock her up with more email investigations the Republican Party you remember is just a memory Joe. |
Subject: RE: BS: McCain the Mensch! From: Donuel Date: 24 Oct 17 - 04:57 PM McCain is now joined by Corker who also is not running again and just today Senator Jeff Flake, a very young man, who will resign rather than be complicit with Trump's incivility and devolving sanity. Whose next, or is everyone else in the Senate suffering from Stockholm syndrome. The keyword of the day is Trump's "debasement" of America. We must be unafraid to stand up (and tell the truth) because our country depends on it. |
Subject: RE: BS: McCain the Mensch! From: Donuel Date: 24 Oct 17 - 08:49 AM Fox News have guests on who claim that Bannon reorganizing the entire GOP is honestly a good thing to bolster the Trump agenda. What agenda? If its good for America its bad for Vlad? Stain the swamp? Make America eat again? Scape goats - the other protien Build the stall Moral shortcomings go a long way. Lies are Truth if you believe. Defeat by Tweet Life in the Tower of Babble Trump is a living God... I better stop before I hurt myself |
Subject: RE: BS: McCain the Mensch! From: EBarnacle Date: 24 Oct 17 - 12:06 AM Or, as Jack Benny was wont to say when a robber confronted him demanding "Your money or your life," "I'm thinking, I'm thinking." |
Subject: RE: BS: McCain the Mensch! From: keberoxu Date: 23 Oct 17 - 09:57 PM And they ask McCain if Trump frightens him. Two bad guys to choose from: Donald J. Trump, versus brain cancer. Which one would YOU be scared of! I hope Senator McCain has more quality time at his post. He has rarely been needed more. |
Subject: RE: BS: McCain the Mensch! From: Donuel Date: 23 Oct 17 - 09:40 AM There was a nearly identical situation in 20th century Germany. Politicians laughed Hitler off as a joke until they got scared and it was too late. Republican silent pact: Lets get while the getting is good with a majority and then worry about the after effects. They are ignoring the aftermath. Even the Generals are saying we are running out of time. Compared to a glacial Congress, time is on the side of Trump who has split second tantrums and narcissistic vengeance. Tillerson says he will keep talking until the bombs drop. At our most vulnerable who is to say Russia will not increase infrastructure cold war hacking. China will have choices to make with a USA nuking their border. |
Subject: RE: BS: McCain the Mensch! From: Greg F. Date: 23 Oct 17 - 08:59 AM there still are a lot of decent people left in the Republican Party Yeah, Joe - but they're dying off at an alarming rate. And if they're so decent, why aren't they opening their mouths about the piece of shit in the White House and his agenda? |
Subject: RE: BS: McCain the Mensch! From: Donuel Date: 23 Oct 17 - 05:37 AM BS Joe. One or two tell the truth only when they know they are not running. You saw McCain's boyfriend Lindsey Graham play golf with Trump and the next day the White House announced the sabotage of Medicaid Medicare and Obamacare. Graham bragged that Trump shot a 73 in wet windy conditions thus assuring his strategy would be adopted. "Hang McCain!!!" shouted at Bannon CA GOP rally. |
Subject: RE: BS: McCain the Mensch! From: Joe Offer Date: 23 Oct 17 - 01:50 AM Heck, even George W. Bush is starting to make sense these days: No, these old-guard Republicans are not to come to the point were we're going to be able to actually agree with them, but I think they're showing that there still are a lot of decent people left in the Republican Party - and they're finally starting to speak out. -Joe- |

Subject: RE: BS: McCain the Mensch! From: EBarnacle Date: 22 Oct 17 - 08:45 PM I wonder about his consistency when he votes for a budget that violates the social contract, Medicare and Medicaid as well other expenditures like the council for humanities and the council for the arts, and boost the military budget of the strongest army, navy, air force and marines the world has ever seen. Yes, he voted against ACA repeal but his latest acts raise questions. Great speeches, lousy moral leadership. |
Subject: RE: BS: McCain the Mensch! From: Donuel Date: 22 Oct 17 - 09:20 AM The fake is real and real turns fake In the hate of a mind insane It's easy to be heroic for McCain. To expose lies Trump painfully feigns. |

Subject: RE: BS: McCain the Mensch! From: keberoxu Date: 21 Oct 17 - 11:16 PM I tried, and failed, to make a link to the feature story on Senator McCain in the New York Times. It's a respectful one. |

Subject: RE: BS: McCain the Mensch! From: Greg F. Date: 28 Aug 17 - 04:59 PM What would Abbey say about tRump? |
Subject: RE: BS: McCain the Mensch! From: keberoxu Date: 28 Aug 17 - 04:18 PM If Edward Abbey were alive to see the day, he would not mince words about Arizona and its conflicted cultures. Wonder what Doug Peacock says though. |
Subject: RE: BS: McCain the Mensch! From: gillymor Date: 28 Aug 17 - 08:03 AM As usual, Don, I'm only vaguely aware of what you're talking about but I'm well aware of Arpaio's crimes against humanity. Twitler's pardon of the old jackass is sending a message to law enforcement officers all over the country that racial profiling is just dandy and they needn't worry about repercussions for it. Couple that with his urging Long Island cops to give arrestees rough treatment and you've got a real formula for "making america (fill in the blank) again". |
Subject: RE: BS: McCain the Mensch! From: Donuel Date: 28 Aug 17 - 07:39 AM Gillymor you are fortunate to assume there is some form of reason for the behavior of some people. This implies to me that you may have never known the absolute evil that drives a select few social psychopaths. The pleasure derived by the select few through torture, cruelty and meanness beyond comprehension is almost orgasmic. That's Joe Do you know all hw has done? |
Subject: RE: BS: McCain the Mensch! From: gillymor Date: 27 Aug 17 - 12:02 PM From the Birthers of a Feather Flock Together Dept. (this might shed some light on why Twit pardoned Sheriff Joe): Birther Friends Forever- NY mag "For the few years that they wore tin-foil hats together, the sheriff displayed the two qualities Trump values most: loyalty and the ability to tell absurd lies with a straight face. Trump also knows how angry liberals would be if he pardoned a birther lawman reviled for his treatment of prisoners and immigrants. And Trump is nothing if not a troll." Props to Sen. McCain, fighting for his country and human decency (with some notable lapses) to the end. |
Subject: RE: BS: McCain the Mensch! From: Donuel Date: 26 Aug 17 - 06:55 PM There are lies, damn lies and contemptible lies Saying Sandy Hooks's a plot, makes parents cry Sick lies have never made America great Still the truth needs a little more give and take Conservative Conspiracy theorists need a hot sudsy bath to slit their wrists Factual journalism is for truth's sake. Trump being completely full of shit ain't fake |

Subject: RE: BS: McCain the Mensch! From: Helen Date: 26 Aug 17 - 04:21 PM Greg F, I recently read this statement by a local Oz journalist - which I have put up on my desk at work: "If we're to survive this post-truth world we seem to have found ourselves in, it's time to stand up for evidence-based decision-making, critical thought, facts, rational discussion and transparent, open communication." Joanne McCarthy http://www.theherald.com.au/story/4829476/its-all-not-so-easy/?cs=308 BTW & off-topic, Joanne McCarthy was the journalist who pushed for the Catholic Church in Australia to be investigated about historical child sex abuse cases back in 2012. A local policeman, Peter Fox, was instrumental in starting the investigation. It has snowballed into a national issue of mammoth proportions with far-reaching consequences. http://www.theherald.com.au/story/761085/top-cop-attacks-catholic-church/ Helen |
Subject: RE: BS: McCain the Mensch! From: Donuel Date: 26 Aug 17 - 02:31 PM At the Trump rally in phoenix, there was a group that chanted for McCain to hurry up and die. I do not know if they were hired or not. As a consequence of banning trans gender soldiers from combat Trump has given Jamie Farr aka Klinger his life long desire , a section 8 to get out of the Army;^/ |
Subject: BS: McCain the Mensch! From: Greg F. Date: 26 Aug 17 - 01:12 PM First, let me reprise my posting of 4 years ago: "I don't always agree with McCain - hell, I RARELY agree with McCain, but he's intelligent, educated, rational, capable of critical thought and grounded in reality(most of the time). Once again, he confronts tRump's racism and idiocy and disregard for Constitutional rights: "McCain issued a statement after Trump's announcement, saying it undermined the president's professed respect for the rule of law. "No one is above the law and the individuals entrusted with the privilege of being sworn law officers should always seek to be beyond reproach in their commitment to fairly enforcing the laws they swore to uphold," McCain said in the statement. "Mr. Arpaio was found guilty of criminal contempt for continuing to illegally profile Latinos living in Arizona based on their perceived immigration status in violation of a judge's orders. The President has the authority to make this pardon, but doing so at this time undermines his claim for the respect of rule of law as Mr. Arpaio has shown no remorse for his actions." Damn!! I may end up actually LIKING McCain. As for the other gutless wonder Republicruds........ |
