Well, let's see.... I still have all my own teeth(just had a root canal done today btw), I'm leaving tomorrow to spend the holiday with my loved one, people tell me I have a nice singing voice, I have no particular wish for the ability to play the fiddle......

I have what I want! But it would be nice to be able to meet all you guys on the Mudcat over some pints and a session, and it would be nice if my loved one lived a little bit closer, like in the same house. But apart from that- I'm happy as Harry!

And what can I say but MAGPIE!!!!! what do you mean you don't want to play the fiddle???? The world would be a lot better and peaceful place if everyone could play the fiddle.. I mean how many fiddle players do you know that have started wars?.. Painters and Decorators yes.. verticaly challanged upstarts from the island of Corsica.. yes.. bored monarchs with nothing else to do (because they can't play the fiddle).. yes.. Wealthy landowners who balked at the idea of the abolishion of slavery, politicians who cling to the concepts of Communism despite it being proved unworkable.. none of these I bet played the fiddle..

I'm scouting how to achieve my Christmas dream: like Embo, I want a recording studio of my own--but it seems easier to achieve: all I have to do is sell a few of my surplus instruments, etc., and go into minidisk recording. A poster to HarpTalk described his system, which--coupled with his computer--is capable of producing excellent quality multi track recordings: his hardware? A mini-mini disk recorder with a stereo mike, his computer, and a CD-R or RW drive...which is supernumary, since it's possible to record back from your computer onto the mini-mini disk recorder. His investment, not counting the CD drive and the computer: about $350.

Now I gotta get off my butt and take pictures of my dispensible instruments and put 'em in the auction.

I've been pretty self-indulgent in the past few years so there's not much I'm lacking that I might ask for (except a winning lottery ticket).

My back teeth on top, or a reasonable facsimile thereof.

An Imac, and a voice-to-type program,

2 trips-1 to CA to see family, 1 to FL to see dear friends

A bigger income, which would help with ALL the above,

One good back and two good knees,

A good singing voice, a good ear, and the ability to play ANYTHING,

Some nice leftish, folkie man to love,

And please spread lots of whirled peas all around.

is to have Sandy Paton produce my CD, with THE FAIR ONE on bodhran and whistles, Kath Westra on cello and harmony, Moonchild and Jeri on guitar and fiddle respectively, Rick Fielding on everything that has strings except the hammered dulcimer which will be played by 'Spaw, more harmony provided by El Swanno, Kat and Alice and WyoWoman jumping in on vocals, Father JoeBro also on the harmony, ......... and on and on. In short, my Mudcat Community.

Whirled peas = world peace, Phluffia = Philadelphia, Bawlamer = Baltimore. Any more I can translate from the US version for you?

You may not know how the mudcat crowd differs from typical US'ers. THEY would think Boxing Day is perhaps the date of the next heaviweight championship bout, if they could hazard any guess at all.
