Subject: Origins: Peter Bellamy & Fairport Convention

Hello,
I have found and uploaded a rare recording of Peter Bellamy singing the Kipling poem "King Henry VII and The Shipwrights" with Fairport Convention in 1970. As it sounds, it seems to have been a quite spontaneous performance.
Since Bellamy rarely appeared with an electric backing, I guess it's at least an interesting bit of history.

The gig was at Little Hadham on August 22 1970. Was somebody of you there? or does somebody know if closer collaborations between Peter Bellamy and Fairport Convention were planned at that time?

Regards

Unfortunately, the first upload had audio dropouts, so I took it down.
This one's better :)

Always great to hear some new Bellamy. Keep 'em coming. (It certainly sounds to me like Mattacks on the drums...)

Altho I admire the song, I couldn't understand a word in this performance.

Thanks for the further clarification, Hagman.
OK, not a perfect recording in terms of quality but still of interest.
Is there a link to the whole set perchance?

Wow, that is some set list!

Peter had Swarbrick back him on 'Both Sides Then', and around 1980 I remember rumours that he was going to join Fairport as vocalist. Nothing came of it, though he did support them on a tour around that time.

The above link is useful, but it appears to be a somewhat edited version of the show. It ends after Sir Patrick Spens, and Wipe Out is replaced by a different guitar piece. Several items are edited out too.
