My use of the word ‘illegitimate’ was deliberate, Maggie, in order to draw attention to Johnson’s adulterous, philandering, deceitful personality. It says considerably more about the father than it does the child, who is completely innocent of course.

Otherwise, no - I don’t recall a child born out of wedlock being referred to as ‘illegitimate’ for many years, certainly not by me.

The most important thing for the child is that it is loved. Then it should be talked to, that is the way they learn, not ignored or talked at because the father is too busy with important things.
Then. Speaking as an orphan (you only need one lost parent to qualify) having both a father and a mother gives a very good grounding in life. But distant fathers probably have the same effect as a dead father.

All-in-all Johnson jr will doubtless not lack for creature comforts. I can only hope it will not loose out in the nurture dept. It will grow up in the shadow of Bonzo. And that is a mighty hillock to surmount.

Let us congratulate Bonzo in 21 years time, when we see how his fathering skills measure up!

Did I'm afraid PFR - and Tommy Steele, Ricky Nelson, Fats Domino, The Drifters (think they might have been The Spinners first)
I saw all of Larry Parnes boys at Sunday Night concerts at the Liverpool Empire - sfa else to do on Sunday nights there in those days so I had to hang around till I discovered Samson and Barlow's Restaurant 100 yards up London Road, around the corner - The Spinners Club
It was either that, hanging around street corners or breaking into shops   
Around the corner from S & B was the remains of the old Liverpool Shakespeare Theatre where they regularly put on The Bards plays - I was taken to see Hamlet when I was eight
Over the ouad, to the left of St George's Hall was a crummy pub called The Victoria where I was later heard some excellent traditional singing - the area was bisected by Lime Street Liverpool's traditional red light district
A short walk away was the finest Jazz Club I have ever been in Colyer, Barber, Ball, Lyttleton, (Terry and McGee one night)   
That part of Liverpool was a hive of culture until the ***** Beatles moved in with the bulldozers :-)

Dunno if this has been mentioned earlier, but they aren’t’ ‘the Johnsons’. Not only are they unmarried, but Johnson is married to someone else. They can’t even be Common-Law husband and wife.

Daft, romantic notions are one thing, but facts are something else.

What's wrong with ee-bah-goom? The Wikipedia entry for Wilfred Pickles says that his regional accent was chosen by the BBC as a deliberate attempt to make it more difficult for Nazis to impersonate BBC broadcasters. At least it gave a chance for someone, who didn't sound like they had a plum in their mouth, to break into old school tie establishmrnt.

I see that one of the names that the baby has been given is in tribute to Dr Nick Price and Prof Nick Hart, two of the people involved in Boris's treatment for the coronavirus. I wonder how pleased they would be to find their name associated in some people's minds, first and foremost, with a Tory letch.
