And Q, Karen K, Dick Greenhaus, Sorcha, Art Thieme, Bigchuck, katlaughing, Walking Eagle, Sandy Paton, Malcolm Douglas, Barry Finn, curmudgeon, MMario, Jed Marum, Rick Fielding, and... That's not all, I'm sure, and those are just people who've died. I miss an awful lot of folks who've simply "sailed from the wharf". |

Subject: RE: BS: Do you remember?... From: Donuel Date: 22 Jun 20 - 07:05 AM I still havE the Bruce Murdoch CD. I got 1 in 3 of my own rememberences wrong. Martin Gibson, troll par excellence, might be mg today? Oh , Kent Brockman was the news anchor on the Simpsons, "Teeth Clean for Now - film at eleven" I found a cosmology paper titled Black Holes Matter. I don't know why but I burned it. |
Subject: RE: BS: Do you remember?... From: David C. Carter Date: 22 Jun 20 - 07:14 AM Donuel,Bruce sent me 2 copies of that CD.I sent 1 to a friend over in London.I play it often. We had some good laughs exchanging e-mails. |

Subject: RE: BS: Do you remember?... From: Tattie Bogle Date: 22 Jun 20 - 02:07 PM Will start to get worried if I get mentioned in a long list of the dear departed! |

Subject: RE: BS: Do you remember?... From: Stilly River Sage Date: 22 Jun 20 - 03:23 PM mg is Mary Garvey, an excellent songwriter and collector of long-standing. No Martin Gibson there! Bruce Murdoch is still a regular, but he prefers to be a moving target so I'll leave it at that. I have a CD of his also and a couple of really favorite songs and he's easy to find on YouTube. Here is the LinInKansas obit posted by Uncle Phil in 2017. There are a few I don't miss, but naming them might jinx us, so I'll leave those names unwritten. |
Subject: RE: BS: Do you remember?... From: Helen Date: 22 Jun 20 - 04:07 PM Sorry, I'm a bit confused about this thread. Is it about remembering Mudcatters who have passed or also about those who used to post here but haven't been seen here for a while? Jeri said, "A guy in Oz who was a cop, I believe." I'm not sure who that was. Any more clues? |
Subject: RE: BS: Do you remember?... From: Donuel Date: 22 Jun 20 - 04:32 PM Who what or why you remember anything is a democracy. Its all up to you. That most people have spontaneously chosen people to remember is a wonderful thing but one could remember losing a big toenail. I have noticed how I do not recognize my old posts :^\ |
Subject: RE: BS: Do you remember?... From: Jeri Date: 22 Jun 20 - 04:36 PM Thanks, Maggie. I remembered. It was Winters Wages. I remembered him because I think he was the first Mudcatter who died. 2003 |
Subject: RE: BS: Do you remember?... From: Steve Shaw Date: 22 Jun 20 - 06:02 PM I've said this same thing recently about another thread: if you want your thread to take wings, it's a good idea to give at least some clue in the thread title as to what you want the thread to be about. |
Subject: RE: BS: Do you remember?... From: Donuel Date: 23 Jun 20 - 06:59 AM You prefer pidgeon holing everthing but I don't. I'm not omnicient I arrived when Rick Fielding left. I've seen the Troll Wars come and go and then professionally used by Russia. Other epochs came and went. History used to be a more popular subject. Cats and dogs are ever popular. We all embrace what is honest and true. I am watching the death of accepted racism after the most abusive President rode it into office. I've seen an evolution and refinement of mods on Mudcat. Its hard to herd artists but somehow they do it. |

Subject: RE: BS: Do you remember?... From: Tattie Bogle Date: 23 Jun 20 - 01:33 PM There are quite a few people who I know are still alive, but have largely stopped posting here: some have changed their names on the way too. More likely to see them on Facebook these days. Diva Drumshanty Breton Cap Flying Cat Pistachio Morticia Giok to name but a few, and what happened to Musket? Did he also change names? |
Subject: RE: BS: Do you remember?... From: Jos Date: 24 Jun 20 - 12:05 PM Liz has been posting as Manitas. I always read his posts when I come across them so I see hers as well. |
Subject: RE: BS: Do you remember?... From: Donuel Date: 24 Jun 20 - 08:32 PM Bill D :do you remember posting this: The Higher Pantheism in a Nutshell One, who is not, we see: but one, whom we see not, is: Surely this is not that: but that is assuredly this. What, and wherefore, and whence? for under is over and under: If thunder could be without lightning, lightning could be without thunder. Doubt is faith in the main: but faith, on the whole, is doubt: We cannot believe by proof: but could we believe without? Why, and whither, and how? for barley and rye are not clover: Neither are straight lines curves: yet over is under and over. Two and two may be four: but four and four are not eight: Fate and God may be twain: but God is the same thing as fate. Ask a man what he thinks, and get from a man what he feels: God, once caught in the fact, shows you a fair pair of heels. Body and spirit are twins: God only knows which is which: The soul squats down in the flesh, like a tinker drunk in a ditch. More is the whole than a part: but half is more than the whole: Clearly, the soul is the body: but is not the body the soul? One and two are not one: but one and nothing is two: Truth can hardly be false, if falsehood cannot be true. Once the mastodon was: pterodactyls were common as cocks: Then the mammoth was God: now is He a prize ox. Parallels all things are: yet many of these are askew: You are certainly I: but certainly I am not you. Springs the rock from the plain, shoots the stream from the rock: Cocks exist for the hen: but hens exist for the cock. God whom we see not, is: and God, who is not, we see: Fiddle, we know, is diddle: and diddle, we take it, is dee. Algernon Charles Swinburne |

Subject: RE: BS: Do you remember?... From: Bill D Date: 28 Jun 20 - 10:39 AM Oh.. yes, Don.. I sure do recall the Swinburne post.. I often think of topics I need to do a search on, and discover that *I* had posted it here 5-8-12-20 years ago. |
Subject: RE: BS: Do you remember?... From: Backwoodsman Date: 29 Jun 20 - 08:16 AM ”what happened to Musket? Did he also change names?“ He no longer logs on - not sure if that’s through choice or otherwise. He does post as a GUEST occasionally under a different name and, before the pandemic hit, I saw him most Mondays at a Folk Club we both frequent. And he has quite a number of videos of him strutting his stuff on YooChoob - under his own name, of course. In other words, he’s still very much alive. |
Subject: RE: BS: Do you remember?... From: Doug Chadwick Date: 29 Jun 20 - 12:40 PM That is true of one of the Muskets. Unfortunately, the Musket login was used by a group of people who liked to have a laugh at others expense. I hope the other Muskets are very much alive but, I have to admit, I'm glad to see the back of them. DC |
Subject: RE: BS: Do you remember?... From: Mo the caller Date: 30 Jun 20 - 08:17 AM Jeri mentioned Malcolm Douglas. Always good to come across his posts in resurrected threads, shedding common sense and spurning wild supposition. |
Subject: RE: BS: Do you remember?... From: Bill D Date: 30 Jun 20 - 12:16 PM And Bruce Olson... between them, Malcolm & Bruce knew more folk history than most of us can imagine. |
Subject: RE: BS: Do you remember?... From: Donuel Date: 30 Jun 20 - 07:21 PM I spent too much time making wild parody suppositions. Few if any ever got it. We met at 8 no it was 5 I was on time you were late Ah yes, I remember it well |
Subject: RE: BS: Do you remember?... From: Ebbie Date: 02 Jul 20 - 03:27 AM This post is nice reading. Amazing how real the personalities still are. I have a question. A few years ago there was a lovely man? woman? who was labeled the Guitar Doctor. We had a series of fun conversations but I never discovered who it was. At a certain point I suspected it ws MichaeltheGM but I never knew. Does anyone remember the Guitar Doctor? |
Subject: RE: BS: Do you remember?... From: Ebbie Date: 02 Jul 20 - 05:35 AM Correction: It wasn't MichaeltheGM I suspected of being the Guitar Doctor but someone called something like musicman or something similar. |
Subject: RE: BS: Do youremember?... From: Donuel Date: 03 Jul 20 - 08:09 PM Remember Sung Young Moon? He headed up a cult and later bought a Washington newspaper to print trash and actually crowned himself King of something. I was staying in Scarsboro north of NYC one 4th of July and saw that a fireworks display was planned nearby at the Sung Young Moon estate. Being anti cult myself I figured I would just go for the fireworks. The Estate and grounds were Palatial and grand. There were many families with their children picnicing on blankets and running around. Suddenly a sound system squealed and a Koren voiced started ranting raving. When it was good nd dark the crowd strted to get restless. I don't know if Moon himself ever spoke but finally the fire and brimstone rant was over and the firworks began with screams of terror. Scarsboro must have had some local ordinace regarding the height of firework displays or some blind oversight had occurred. Instaed of going off 200 or 300 feet high these fireworks were exploding at 50 to a hundred feet. Some cannisters still with propellant left fell back to Earth to cause havoc among the picnics. Mothers were shielding children, blankets were catching on fire and I was yelling "its a miracle I can walk". We were all headed to the exits or what we thought were exits when we heard fire truck sirens. It was a night to remember. |

Subject: RE: BS: Do you remember?... From: Donuel Date: 09 Jul 20 - 07:29 AM I remember low scoring football games in the NFL and Ohio State blow outs of 50 points or more but with the new 6 foot social distancing rules, the NFL would have NBA scores like 120 to 136 or higher. Just kidding , the Feds say the CDC guide lines are too strict for schools and sports and by ignoring them no significant infections will occur. They think the risks are worth the rewards/profits. Especially the highly lucrative college football programs (the minor league for the NFL) where players are not paid. So far college football is canceled but decisions are fluid. |
