Subject: RE: The I C A From: GUEST,Modette Date: 26 Aug 20 - 05:55 AM I was hoping the Irish Citizen Army had been revived and had declared vengeance on golf club diners. |
Subject: RE: The I C A From: Black belt caterpillar wrestler Date: 26 Aug 20 - 07:17 AM I seem to remember that the initials were also used in some computing society activity, and perhaps they had a civl service usage as well. It got very confusing at times! Robin (lapsed member). |
Subject: RE: The I C A - International Concertina Association From: GUEST,Michael Gordon Date: 27 Aug 20 - 04:56 AM Concertina You’ll think I’m crazy, You’ll think I’m strange, When I try to explain how I feel. But you still cannot play After all of these years. Hard to believe it. But all you can play is a hornpipe or two. And maybe a snatch of a jig. The lads are all fed up with you. How could you let it happen? Why did you choose? To spend half your life playing reels? Sitting in on our sessions, ruining tune after tune. It’s just not music Squeezing away without much of a clue And no sense of rhythm at all. I can’t bear to listen, thank you. Don’t play me your concertina. The truth is you never practised. All through the winter You skipped the lessons, Do us a favour Now skip the sessions. And as for fortune and as for fame I don’t think they will trouble you. Listen to the musicians, You are wrecking their heads. You cause confusion. They’re becoming abusive; they’re threatening to leave If you don’t put your squeeze box away. I implore you; please listen to me. Don’t play me your concertina, The one that your uncle left you. I just can’t listen ‘Cept from a distance. Too many bad days You need assistance. Have I said too much? There’s nothing more I can say to get through to you. But all you have to do, is ask the lads, to know That every word is true. Chorus: |
Subject: RE: The I C A - International Concertina Association From: Guran Date: 28 Aug 20 - 01:44 AM I warmly support joining International Concertina Association as being one of its most durable members alive... after 39 years... I am slowly catching up with the average age of members when I was associated..but the organisation is much younger nowadays... Staying alive playing concertina, particularly in public, however is an art in itself and keeping physically fit is essential. One exercise that all concertina players ought to practise daily is shown here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q01G-mLDdnk&list=RDq01G-mLDdnk&start_radio=1 |
Subject: RE: The I C A - International Concertina Association From: The Sandman Date: 28 Aug 20 - 02:11 AM I keep fit by cycling daily/ |
Subject: RE: The I C A - International Concertina Association From: Guran Date: 28 Aug 20 - 02:34 AM The exercise I suggested above may be studied more in detail here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMvL8rV1ssI As with any bodybuilding routine you start with a light weight and after while you can manage a heavier weight/concertina as shown in the example I´m afraid cycling is not so effective unless you play the concertina also in the procedure...you dont use your arms for cycling anyway... |
Subject: RE: The I C A - International Concertina Association From: Guran Date: 28 Aug 20 - 02:37 AM I forgot....it comes about 27 minutes from the start of the film |
