This morning my partner will be going to hospital for a routine procedure to replace her pacemaker battery. In fact the whole pacemaker is replaced. The procedure is non-evasive and carries next to no risk, but as in all procedures there is always that tiny percentage of risk.

All going well, she will back home the same day after which she will need to avoid any physical exertion for a week or so to make sure that the apparatus has properly settled in place.

Cooperator you are a favorite and you are justfied to worry about an INVASIVE procedure. Procedure my ass, its an operation. At least 5 people have to agree to work with a common purpose and order of events with mutually agreed precautions... OH you wanted positive thoughts...
Everything will be fine.

A few months ago, my 88 year old mum was taken to hospital after a fall.
After other routine scans it was diagnosed she needed a pacemaker filled immediately.

Family consent was a fast well informed no brainer.

Obviously we were anxious.
But we were more worried about covid infection before being discharged...

Mum bounced back quickly, her dementia working to her advantage,
as she couldn't even remember having any operation.

She was fighting fit and cheerful well before the convalescence weeks were over..

Even happier at being told to avoid baths and showers while her scar healed...

Donuel, maybe I haven't used correct terminology. Compared with the original operation this will be simple and straightforward.

It was more likely temazepam than dementia that made PFR's mum forget about the op. It can do that to anybody.   A few hours after getting a heart scan I had no idea why I was in hospital.

My decision is avoid the incision
Whenever you can in the long run
Your partner sounds positively electric
and eclectic with all sorts of song fun

The hospital issued my mum with a mobile phone-like pacemaker monitor transmitter
to keep by her bedside..

I'm surprised she still hasn't unplugged, and lost it somewhere
in or outside her home...
