So now, where I once never swore, I will swear like a navvie, along with the best of 'em...and I tell you what, the whole bloody country should be out there on the streets swearing their heads off about the Arrogance, Ignorance & Greed that is happening all around us, because this bloody beautiful world belongs to our children and our children's children...and those Corporate Bastards, otherwise known as Cutthroats, Crooks & Conmen (also from Show of Hands, for the uninitiated) are ruining it! So stop being so damn prissy and try getting angry, because the scum who run our banking systems now OWN this world! Thank you. |

I think this applies in a lot of folk songs. Also in Shaw's St. Joan, Joan of Arc asks of the army commander, "Be you bastard?" Deleting all the words Green Wellies finds objectionable from English literature would to out-Bowdlerize Bowdler. |
