Ebbie's post on the Renaissance thread made me wonder, what other stories have we written?

I illustrated a story / wrote a graphic story when I was about 11 in Côte dcIvoire.

In the story, a kid is eavesdropping on their big sister and sister's boyfriend; kid hears sister exclaim Oh look, peeks around corner, sees two little snakes coming in from the garden. Boyfriend turns around to look but one snake bites him before he realizes what is going on. He leaps up, knocking over his chair which falls one one of the snakes, crushing it, and keels over, dead. Sister is weeping and wailing but kid notices the other snake has crawled away into the garden and now coming back with an unusual herb in its mouth. It crawls over to the dead snake, places the herbs in the dead snake's mouth, and lo and behold, the snake cimes back to life. Kid points this out to sister, and the two run into the garden to find the herb. Sister brings it back, places it into her dead boyfriend's mouth...

...and he tirns into a live, human-sized snake.

I went back to proofread and accidentally hit submit. Oops. Anyway, what else?

Speaking of snakes, I recently wrote a story for my six-year-old herpimanical great-neice about how my brothers and I had an Exploring Expedition to find the mouth of a local creek. Along the way there was a snake pit into which an earthquake nearly threw us. In the pit were snakes even we couldn't recognize! Hint: having boomslangs, king cobras, and puff adders in West Central Illinois may possibly have been a slight variation on the truth.

I would like to hear more stories. I have always written them; it is an exercise I like.

However, Mrrzy! I like the ending of your story but it would never have occurred to me- made a shiver go down my spine. Do, please, give us more!

Rap, that, except for your typo, sounds like pretty typical big brother stuff. I have a feeling you also made ups some stories that kept your brother staring wide-eyed in the night. :)

Mudcat below the line used to be resplendid with stories by Rap, Catspaw, Amos and many others. Its what encouraged me to try my hand and learn more about how its done. Posting them was less rewarding. Ebbie you often used to say "Donuel, don't quit your day job". I wasn't discouraged, but the day job is over.

Ebbie, I was *so* proud of that story!

Note that even though I did not yet know I was nonbinary, I, the kid, was gender-neutral, but my big sister and the Marine-du-jour had gender.

Donuel, I didn't like Reagan but, "there you go again." I have never once in your life told you - or even implied - to not quit your day job. It is not a phrase I use.

More and more I find this community differing with my memory. "Its you or me babe". I have never said that before either, but I just did.

I even recall your comment referred to a lyric poem I had just dashed off. The nature of memory is that it can be forgotten. I'm not offended why should you be. FOLKS SHOULD Go back 10 years and view thier posts, I am sure people will be astonished that they do not recall certain posts.

I recall that way back, somebody started a thread entitled'You Must Leave'.We were allowed just three words to make up a "story".It was great fun;kept us all busy for weeks. And it was pretty crazy.

Stay safe everybody.

Ooh I remember the shortest short story (For sale: Baby shoes. Never worn.) but 3 words? Person bites animal?

But what other stories did y'all come up with, especially while you were children?

Deep in the bowels of the US Capitol, the sub basement had a foul waft of sewerage. McConnel was leading incantations from the Egyptian Book of the Dead. Mitch did not know he was reading the Dedication. Except for Romney in a suit, all the High Reichical Senators were dressed in hooded cloaks and reverentially repeating everything Mitch said 5 syllables at a time. You could hear a flag pin drop when Mitch stopped.    Mitch slowly squeezed a resounding whoopee cushion and after the pause began slowly "Fellow loyal Trumpists... the time has come...the body of Donald Trump has died...but even death doth die...We are here to restore the master to the Presidency and Transform der Leader into...Dark Trump the Vanquisher! ...long may he reign. "Repeat after me; Hushmon Knee con kartush emon zer schwinefelt"... Senators repeat chant, "Hushmoney con, car tushy, Seinfeld".

A mile away the Lincoln Memorial began to darken and Abe appeared to try and stand...

Ghostdusters 4 (A Capitol Crime) was greenlighted by Netflix.
They greenlight anything. The legal department is still debating if the names of actual Republican Senators who are killed off need to have their names changed.

I wrote a one act play once involving Mrs. Hiedler who had killed her only child, because 'voices' had repeatedly warned her that her son would be responsible for the death of millions. She is distraught but insists she had no choice because she could not have that on her conscience. At the end, the Narrator is startled when he realizes Mrs. Hiedler is pregnant.

I've posted 6 chapters before. With the attention spans here the worst that could happen is praise. Its a mudcat tradition.

How about the story about Jimmy Stewart filming 'its a wonderful life' while suffering PTSD following having just returned home from being a bomber pilot in Europe and losing 2/3 of his company. It made for the most dramatic but real scenes full of guilt and anguish.
It makes watching the film in a new light of reality.

Oh there are lots of STORIES, Donuel. Not what I asked. And you don't have to post the story you yourself wrote, just tell us about it.

I'm currently working on one I call 'Beyond the Rainbow'. It involves Narnia-ish access to another world but mine is the unexpected portal to the green sward where all the animals are that one has loved and the lessons one learns in the process.

For instance, since everything is in-the-moment there is no sadness or loneliness, but the protagonist learns the limitations thereto.
