Arseholes are cheap today
Cheaper than yesterday
Little boys are half a crown

"Arseholes are cheap today" is a spot-on evocation of Naples under the Allied occupation, as Malaparte described it in "The Skin" - every orifice in town was up for sale. Is that where it dates from?

Except that we sang

which never made enough sense, far too expensive for chips, now I see we should have been buying fish - much more sensible.
