Subject: BS: Postcard from Meganissi 2021 From: Roger the Skiffler Date: 23 Sep 21 - 03:55 AM We've been back to Greece for the first time in 2 years to the little Ionian island of Meganissi which we've only visited for lunch before (and that was 20 years ago). Nothing particularly strange or funny happened while we were there so I don't think it is worth wasting your time with an extended account. Covid form-filling and tests were a pain but well worth it in the end. RtS |

Subject: RE: BS: Postcard from Meganissi 2021 From: DaveRo Date: 23 Sep 21 - 04:41 AM We first sailed into Little Vathi (to distinguish it from Big Vathi on Ithaca) in 1998. There was only the quay at the end, one taverna I think, and no shop. Since then we've been back many times, mooring in one the bays in the north and walking over the island to get supplies. Last time we were there, two years ago, the moorings were chokka, many boats having deserted Turkey and the Eastern Aegean for various reasons. There will have been fewer boats this year, I expect, what with Covid, Brexit regulations, and new Greek taxes. But I read that some flotillas have resumed... |
Subject: RE: BS: Postcard from Meganissi 2021 From: Roger the Skiffler Date: 23 Sep 21 - 05:22 AM Yes, Dave, quite busy with yachts. When we did a coastal walk we could see every little cove (and you know how indented the coast is) was full of anchored yachts. Marinas/Yacht clubs in Spilia, Vathy, Karnafgio,Abelaki. Quite lively in the evenings (no music or dancing). Vathy now has about 7 eateries plus cafes, 3 bakers/confectioners and lots of renovation of buildings going on. Very prosperous. RtS |
