well, here we are less than 5 hours till Sydney's big firework display starts & 2022 is over ...

Crowds flock to Sydney for biggest New Year's Eve celebrations since pandemic began

Australia begins New Year's Eve celebrations with fireworks warning from firefighters

My plan is to stay home & avoid the crowds - tho I could walk outside, round the corner & down to road to stand in a shoulder-to-shoulder crowd & see some fireworks above the tall buildings ... no way!

Happy New Year!

And to you, Sandra!

We have watched 'Dinner for one', our annual chuckle on SBS; we have drunk a little bubbly, and are about to tuck into leftover Chrissy cake with white chocolate gelato. Us country folk know how to live the high life, you know.

We won't be watching the fireworks on TV either.

I forgot to add, I never do either.

I'm sorting photos - jpgs - & will also be doing a bit of embroidery & reading a library book, & maybe start the next Discworld book in the pile beside my table. I have 5 of them piled up just awaiting re-reading ...

So it ain't just me, DtG (*relief*). I do try to keep them ordered, but Herself tends to read them by theme ("Where's the next Vimes one?"), and our bookshelves are full enough to bend spacetime, so ....

I've just re-read his first book The Colour of Magic, & want to read no.2 but I don't have it & the library is closed until next week & besides both copies are on loan! I've never worried in the past to read in order, but ...

I've also just re-read The Shepherd's Crown, his final book.

I'm spending New Year's Eve/Day in a small town in the country.
I expect to hear things bang and crack and such, but not too much.

Anyways, I take it one day at a time, no resolutions for me.
Happy New Year to Mudcatters past and present.

New Year's Day is actually my favorite day of the year and has been since I was a child. I've never gotten over the fanciful image of all humanity stepping over the line together. And it is always a time of Hope.
