Mark Milley for president?

Somehow I think he is too smart to want it.

We complain about leaders and are right to do so. The problem is that our leadership training is geared to meet past challenges. I think a futurist who works well with diversity and dares to be different would be better able to anticipate and respond to change.

Talent and a cooperative personality would be a plus but a little AI will probably get thrown into the mix.

MLK made an "I have a dream" speech, not an 'I have a plan' speech.
When people know the 'why' of a leader they grow to believe in the dream. A good leader knows this axiom well.

A great leader like FDR is sometimes a result of their partner.

We will probably have a hybrid leader that combines AI with human input. The other options are all AI OR all human.

Which would you prefer?

The most charismatic leaders are usually the worst-behaved, but if you lack charisma you haven't got much chance of becoming a great leader. A paradox without an easy solution.

Tony Blair had charisma, look how that worked, intially.

Jeremy Corbyn had no charisma and plenty of charisn'tma. A latter-day Michael Foot, without the integrity.

Boris had.... er.......... well... um.......... he was everybody's fool, and we all have the fool in us, which explained his rise to inadequacy.

Nick Clegg is defending Fakebook against legitimate accusations of data collection etc etc etc.

Theresa May was a stalking horse for Boris

Liz Truss - yea! Quite! Studied economics at Uni. Yea! Quite!

Starmer is a safe pair of hands, but TBH his rise to N? 10 will be driven by the vacuum left by the current incumbents. And we do need a safe pair of hands right now.

John Major was a good chairman apparently. And if you followed the Leveson Inquiry it showed he lost his election because he refused to be "quid pro quo"'d by Merdoch. Say what you like about his politics, but the man had some integrity. (not that it will stop the carping, driven purely by politics). He also stood up against Thatcher and won one General Election. Grey power?

No I don't have favourites, whatever biases, I have they are visible to me when I look at politics E&OE

Lyndon Johnson got a lot more done in social legislation than John F. Kennedy even dreamed of. An English publication made the observation that LBJ "ruled from a nest of short hairs."

I have a soft spot for Angela Merkel. She spent TRMPs term being leader of the free world. We could have done (almost did) worse.

Charisma is maybe half physical. We won't ever have a President as homely as Abraham Lincoln again in this video world.
That's too bad since Lincoln learned to try harder with humor and wisdom.

In my lifetime any emphasis on the future has dissipated to the want of instant gratification and greed. Corporate theft of pensions is commonplace and sacrificing the environment is normal. Wealth divides have grown and Panama paper financing is standard operating procedure. I am a future enthusiast when it comes to discovery and new thought paradigms.         The condemnation of TESLA has caused the world to be drowned in oil and global warming instead of an electric world. Einstein said Tesla was the smartest man in the world and had far more practical inventions than Albert.
A great leader is invested in the future. There is a notion that great contributions only come from the young. On a case-by-case basis that youth myth is clearly wrong.

There are leaders of annihilation like Hitler and Stalin etc.
Then there are leaders who must respond to said annihilation.
There is the annihilation of Jews by Muslims.
The American Indian wars sought annihilation of the many tribes.
Conquistadors did the same. Total annihilation is seldom accomplished.

The only race/culture that was totally annihilated was the Tasmanians by the British.

It is only my personal experience.
Steven Colbert reported that President Biden has made rules for the control of AI and the rise of machines. Colbert said there is no one he trusts more with the control the machines as long as that machine is not a bike.

When comes to the warmest people I read, you are not on that list.

The entire religious equivalence of Trump with Christ, election denying, save the Children foundation, is not from Trump lawyers or the Proud Boys, it is QAnon.

The current leader of QAnon today is General Flynn. From what I know about cults and propaganda, QAnon is a classic psyop operation.

If Trump can not continue for any reason General Flynn will be the heir apparent. The ReAwaken America movement in QAnon is entirely run by Flynn. The internet QAnon leader Q posted its last comment 2 weeks after Fynn was pardoned. From then on it is all General Flynn's leadership. A typical Flynn rally begins with a pastor moving to a disaffected doctor and then the star of the show is the former 3 star General Flynn.

QAnon is engaging in stochastic terrorism. The violence it inspires has an impact on the family unit and America. They consider that they are the force of good fighting the ultimate evil. They consider that they are the force of good battling the ultimate evil who are the Jews and Democrats. It is a conspirituality. They call it a war of spirituality. QAnon has many other enemies like, Oprah, Bill Gates and the Pope who is responsible for all child abuse. They call their book burnings an occult item burning.

A base of religious zealots united by shared hates and fear is valuable to a fascist regime. They will do violence to defend the authoritative State by attacking the enemies of the state.

Greg Locke is more crazy and hateful than you can imagine. The crazier he becomes the more his 'flock' eats it up. We may see fervent psychopathy but the obedient religious bigots only see truth that was heretofore hidden from them.

The Narcissist National anthem

It's a long shot sure thing
with a slim fat chance
to save the forking world
and hear the angels chant
"Behold my own flag unfurled
to save this blessed world"
just obey all of my rules
be you wise or be you fools

According to a Republican official in New Hampshire (quoted on CNN or MSNBC), his two "heroes" (his word) are Jesus and Donald Trump.

So there's one answer.

Most of the war leaders and wannabes are old men. Netanyahu is 74. Biden is 81. Trump is 77. Putin is 71.

Jimmy Carter was a non-charismatic leader who was very good. He was trounced by a charismatic leader who was very bad. Clement Attlee was very non-charismatic, but, arguably, was our best prime minister for at least the last hundred years. Who knows what the rules are here. And that's just democracies.

Major presided over a lot of sleaze that happened on his watch. As for his integrity, we could ask Norma about his integrity between 1984 and 1988. Whilst these things matter a lot less these days, had his affair been made public earlier he would probably never have become PM. He was a weak and definitely not a great leader, but I dunno whether Tarzan would have been any better. Funny how these Tory grandees turn into sage old boys in their latter years, innit. Thinking of Major, Clarke, Tarzan and co., among others.

And Jeremy Corbyn was no great leader but he has more integrity than all the others you mentioned put together. You're reading the wrong papers.

Side observation: There are those in middle management with actual negative charisma, which I dubbed "charisn'tma" when I was on the receiving end. Their effect can be at least as corrosive as that of a badly-behaved charismatic.
