Subject: Save Max 2 From: Osmium Date: 28 Feb 00 - 04:02 PM So lets really get Max out of Spaws clutches because lately he's into zips. Let's bring him over to the UK - fare's are cheap and I'll split the cost of the fare and the necessary bid with at least five other gents and then we need need just one female (despite the rumours to the contrary Max appears to be male) who's willing to be entertained. Email me if your up for it. |
Subject: RE: Help: Save Max 2 From: Amos Date: 28 Feb 00 - 04:05 PM Go, lads, go!! That's the spunk!! Take Max over the water, where folk music was born! C'mon mates, cough up the quid! |
Subject: RE: Help: Save Max 2 From: Osmium Date: 28 Feb 00 - 07:36 PM So I think they have all gone to bed. To keep this thread awake for the early morning UK risers I have a Paddy's nite Gig coming up and would welcome the best "One Liner's" you have especially if politically incorrect. |
Subject: RE: Help: Save Max 2 From: Llanfair Date: 29 Feb 00 - 12:36 PM Sounds a great idea, I'd be happy to chip in, and be wined and dined- there's a great chippy round the corner! You are aware, however, Osmium, that my eldest son is the same age as Max, but hey, what the hell, doesn't have to be a "date" date, does it? Hwyl, Bron. |
Subject: RE: Help: Save Max 2 From: Llanfair Date: 29 Feb 00 - 12:39 PM In fact, checking the dates, he's 13 days younger than my Tim.!!!!! Bron. |
Subject: RE: Help: Save Max 2 From: paddymac Date: 29 Feb 00 - 12:46 PM Llanfair - I have a question about the word "chippy". I am not at all familiar with Welsh colloquialisms, but I presume your use of the word "chippy" refers to a dining establishment specializing in fish & chips. I recall as a kid in the American mid-west hearing the old ladies use that word to describe a young woman whom they presumed to be of loose morals. Since we're talking about Max visiting your side of the pond, possibly to see your "great chippy round the corner", I thought we might clarify the term, just in case Max's mom might be following this thread. :>)! |
Subject: RE: Help: Save Max 2 From: Amos Date: 29 Feb 00 - 01:13 PM Huh? Max had a mom?? Whale oil beef hooked! I don't think Cleigh can lay claim to that distinction... |
Subject: RE: Help: Save Max 2 From: MMario Date: 29 Feb 00 - 01:19 PM Amos! What a cruel thing to say........Cleigh of course has a mom....check your history! And then apologise to the lady.... |
Subject: RE: Help: Save Max 2 From: Amos Date: 29 Feb 00 - 01:24 PM Well...wait...now, Cleigh O. Possum was born from clay out of hot water, right? And, according to my reckoning from a review of Spaw's posts, he's been trying to get back into hot water ever since! |
Subject: RE: Help: Save Max 2 From: Mbo Date: 29 Feb 00 - 01:25 PM I thought Spaw was his Mom! Cleigh's got a bum only a mother could love! **BOG** --Mbo |
Subject: RE: Help: Save Max 2 From: Osmium Date: 29 Feb 00 - 01:30 PM Well as yet the UK contingent hasn't woken up or got home from work and so far Max istn't telling us what the air fare (maybe we are a bigger threat) is likely to be. So we all get the end time straight; I have a feeling this is going to hot up before its over; lets have the end time for the auction in GMT please. I see that momentarily Max is out of Spaw's clutches! |
Subject: RE: Help: Save Max 2 From: catspaw49 Date: 29 Feb 00 - 01:35 PM To clear up all doubts.....Cleigh ahs a momma as does his sister Dido. Both were born in beautiful Oregon at the home of Blessings Barbara. Cleigh is almost a year old now and even at that young age has been lovingly fondled by more women than young Meebo. Mario, I think it may be time for another "Mudcat IQ Test"...whaddaya' think? Spaw |
Subject: RE: Help: Save Max 2 From: Mbo Date: 29 Feb 00 - 01:44 PM HA! If little Cleigh-boy only got fondled lovingly by ONE woman it'd be more than me! Lucky little marsupial! --Mbo |
Subject: RE: Help: Save Max 2 From: Mbo Date: 29 Feb 00 - 01:44 PM Little Possum, who made thee? Dost thou know who made thee? --Mbo |
Subject: RE: Help: Save Max 2 From: MMario Date: 29 Feb 00 - 01:55 PM 'Spaw, am I supposed to HAVE an IQ? (I really wish these things would be spelled out.) Anyone know what it looks like so I can hunt around and see if I have one, so that I can test it? How DO you test your IQ? Thermometer? Written Exam? |
Subject: RE: Help: Save Max 2 From: Amos Date: 29 Feb 00 - 01:58 PM I protest that while Cleigh has a maker, it is not quite the same thing. And at least he is fortunate enough tohave met his in person... |
Subject: RE: Help: Save Max 2 From: MMario Date: 29 Feb 00 - 02:05 PM Amos - if you want to meet your maker, I'm sure you could find SOMEONE to oblige you with a helping hand.... and haven't you heard of having "one in the oven"? |
Subject: RE: Help: Save Max 2 From: Amos Date: 29 Feb 00 - 02:10 PM Well, there's making, and then there's making. It took BBlessings more effort to make Cleigh than it took my passed-on Paw to "start" me...but I think Paw had more fun. |
Subject: RE: Help: Save Max 2 From: Max Date: 29 Feb 00 - 02:14 PM The auction for a date with me will end at the end of the radio show this Wednesday (tomorrow). We will close it down with about 5 minutes to go in the show which should be between 8:30 and 9:00pm EST. |
Subject: RE: Help: Save Max 2 From: Llanfair Date: 29 Feb 00 - 02:22 PM Phew!!! this thread has a life of it's own, doesn't it. A "Chippy" is a fish and chip shop. The comestibles are consumed outside, or at home, or in the Red Lion with a pint. I've never heard of a woman of easy virtue referred to as a chippy, and I'm sure Polly Garter hasn't, either. Hwyl, Bron. |
Subject: RE: Help: Save Max 2 From: paddymac Date: 29 Feb 00 - 02:23 PM Little Possum, who made thee? Dost thou know who made thee? Was it as good for you as he? Or more, perhaps, for he or she? And what said ye to Daddy 'Spaw, about that grin across yer maw? Sorry, phoaks, just couldn't resist the elfin muse. |
Subject: RE: Help: Save Max 2 From: catspaw49 Date: 29 Feb 00 - 02:27 PM Yo Max...See my note in the thread........Doesn't give the girls a level field and you might be thought to be playing favorites and I KNOW you wouldn't want to make any of them feel bad now would you??? (Guilt Trip) Spaw |
Subject: RE: Help: Save Max 2 From: TerriM Date: 29 Feb 00 - 03:46 PM O.K, I'm now part of the U.K bid on Max's virtue....no-one blab to my S.O! Actually, 'Spaw, I'd bid for a date with Cleigh, how about it? |
Subject: RE: Help: Save Max 2 From: Osmium Date: 29 Feb 00 - 04:41 PM OK Max we have 3 of us in the UK so far - if you don't give us a fare soon we're going to make you pay your own. There'll be more of us soon, I'm sure. Hot nites in Surrey? Essex? Llandydno? |
Subject: RE: Help: Save Max 2 From: Amos Date: 29 Feb 00 - 04:46 PM Possum, possum, on the block Wherefore thou the butt of shlock? Can'st perform the nuptial station? Dost thou ken our fornication? Then let Max and Cleigh make merry Let "possum" turn into possere A |

I am within striking distance of the Jug, UK Mudcat HQ (Bill reckons it's the largest gathering of 'catters on the planet), so being Presidential Limo Driver would be an honour. Skipjack |

Well anyway, he's safe now. That is, I *usually* keep my claws retracted, and always well groomed. ;-)
I didn't quite come out of nowhere, it was just fortuitous timing, really. I frequent the 'cat from time to time, dating back to when Dick ran it as DT over on the Xerox PARCC site. Of course, it was MUCH smaller and simpler (and slower!) then. I have found the 'cat to be an invaluable resource over the years - as well as a rollicking good time!
I was THRILLED when the message board became available -- no more tearing out my hair over missing songs not in the database.
Three cheers for Max (and Dick)!
BTW --Here's an old thread I remember fondly: Don Gato, anyone?
Anyway, I'll just shut up now. [grin] Thanks again, have a groovular day and seeya 'round the 'cat, y'all! *elektra*

Subject: RE: Help: Save Max 2 From: catspaw49 Date: 02 Mar 00 - 09:25 AM I again want to congratulate Elektra on her stunning win and come from behind victory. Little Cleigh is of course saddened by the loss but still sends his congratulations to Elektra and to ALL the other bidders. He knows that one day Max will be blessed with a close encounter of the marsupial kind and looks forward to a blow up the backside sometime in the future. Since young Meebo had himself a "Meebo Only HearMe," I'd like to propose a "Meebo Only Auction." The state of the boy's love life is a pathetic thing and something must be done. So let's have an auction sponsored by the great ladies of Mudcat wherein Meebo is the ONLY bidder. What a fantastic money-making scheme this is! There is no way to tell how much the lad might bid for a few hours spent with a real woman......one that does not require inflation. The other possibility of course is to get him a new inflator pump (his is worn out) and a patch kit to repair his current lady love. So let's get behind this and set up the "Meebo FOR Meebo" auction site right away. Spaw |
Subject: RE: Help: Save Max 2 From: Amos Date: 02 Mar 00 - 09:44 AM LOL! Wodda maroon! You kill me, Spaw. Mbo, take heart. The new ones are tubeless. |
Subject: RE: Help: Save Max 2 From: Mbo Date: 02 Mar 00 - 10:28 AM The only inflatable thing I have is my air mattress, which I have to sleep on when I go home because my real bed is here. It was pretty flabby when I left Sunday...I'll have to pump it up again tomorrow afternoon. Thanks for reminding me...I think... --Mbo |
Subject: RE: Help: Save Max 2 From: annamill Date: 02 Mar 00 - 05:19 PM Hello Friends. I missed the whole thing!! The finale of the auction, the radio show, everything. BLAST!! I didn't get home from work til 9pm. Max, I wish you could have left the results of the auction up a couple of days so those of us that couldn't be here could see it. I'm sorry I couldn't get you for an evening, but maybe we'll have a blues gathering anyway. Good win, elektra! Love, annap |
Subject: RE: Help: Save Max 2 From: Amos Date: 02 Mar 00 - 05:29 PM Spaw, your plan sounds inflationary on the face of it. Without the experience to know the value of a dollar in this market, how is Emblo to decide when to raise himself? He might end up raising himself just on impulse! If that isn't inflationary, i dunno! A |

Subject: RE: Help: Save Max 2 From: wysiwyg Date: 02 Mar 00 - 05:58 PM When you pick on anyone here the way you tease Mbo, it makes me want to run for the hills. Maybe it doesn't bother him or anyone else but I've had to eat so much of that sh*t that I get a bad taste in my mouth, whoever's plate it's headed for, and I don't care if they ordered it either, you don't have to serve it as the house special. And I love you all too much to leave, now. So please remember, when you make a sh*t sandwich for your Mudcat friends, that I can smell it from here.

Subject: RE: Help: Save Max 2 From: wysiwyg Date: 02 Mar 00 - 06:01 PM PS, I am not coming back to this thread, so don't answer me. |
Subject: RE: Help: Save Max 2 From: Amos Date: 02 Mar 00 - 06:08 PM Well, I will anyway. Mbo, I always hope that our roughhousing on these various threads has not gotten under your skin, and i want you to know it was in know way meant to reduce you or make less of you. I count you as a friend, and I try not to hurt friends, so if I have misestimated, let me know. I apologize to you if so. We put a certain amount of our personae into a public domain when we write to threads like these, and the humor of them is -- I think -- more around the forms we have mutally materialized in cyberspace than it is about those behind the keyboards. I hope this is not just a cheap rationalization but I do not think so. Mbo, what do you think? |
Subject: RE: Help: Save Max 2 From: Mbo Date: 02 Mar 00 - 06:24 PM I'm sorry not to agree with you there Praise, but I fun all this stuff actually quite humorous! I know folks are just being funny...Mudcatters are good folks (except anonymous flamers) and I am glad to have them as friends. To take the time even to poke fun at my lack of a love life of any sort, let's me know they're there for me. At least I'm getting lots of attention, and several 'Catters are trying to fix me up with their daughters! **BOG** As for web personae, I can assure you that my web personae is truly who I am. I have studied hard throughout my life and know lots of things others wouldn't bother to learn...but I don't express my self very well verbally. Writing, like I'm doing now, is the most perfect way of expressing myself. I get to think about what I want to say, and don't sound like a mumbling fool. It's true that in real life I am very shy, nervous, and scared of people. I will go out of my way NOT to talk on a telephone, or ask someone for help....I even start sweating and get nervous when I do something as simple as checking out a library book, or buying stamps. If you met me in real life, you would probably never guess that I was the same person. This is definately part of why I'm such a "lonely boy"....But let me tell you, that if I know you very well, I never shut up! As many here can attest to! --Mbo |
Subject: RE: Help: Save Max 2 From: Amos Date: 02 Mar 00 - 07:21 PM Well said, Mbo. I am much releived to learn I have not been torturing you, and will return to my insensitive buffoonery with a clear conscience. Praise: neener neener neener, mbo said it was alriiight... |
Subject: RE: Help: Save Max 2 From: Banjer Date: 02 Mar 00 - 07:38 PM 'Spaw, in his recent post made reference to inflatable persons. There is no way to tell how much the lad might bid for a few hours spent with a real woman......one that does not require inflation. Little does he know how true that is. It seems most of the females of the opposite sex I have had the pleasure(?) of knowing have been real airheads. Immediate family included!! Take my wife for example.(Please!!) I come home from work today and ask quite innocently, "What's for dinner?". Her reply, "I don't know, I worked nine hours at my job today" What is her job? Cashier in a grocery store. She spends nine hours looking at food and has NO idea what's for dinner! Thank goodness she wears those lead boots, else she would float away. |
Subject: RE: Help: Save Max 2 From: Amos Date: 02 Mar 00 - 08:55 PM Well now, Banjer, they say that to someone with a hammer, everything looks like a nail. So to someone armed only with a cash register, everything looks like a price tag, no? And you wouldn't want 'em in your soup!
A |
Subject: RE: Help: Save Max 2 From: wysiwyg Date: 03 Mar 00 - 04:33 AM I have received a message in my personal page "asking" that I come back to this thread, and others telling me I don't need to stick up for Mbo. And one really rude and mean note too, thanks so much. And one really nice caring one, altho off target. Someone mentioned Mother Teresa, and I still don't get that one. What was I thinking? I thought maybe a nudge, that the "good fun" you were having wasn't necessarily fun for all, might be relevant. Oh well. Some of you forgot that not everyone knows the history behind every item in the forum, and I don't know you all well enough not to get scared sometimes. Risk of newbies, eh? Most of the mail in my personal page looked to me like people responding to who they think I ought to be. Well, I am not just one-dimensional. I have a full spice shelf. I'll be the first to admit that I may not always use it properly... but every once in awhile I may let out a holler if you jump on my toes, even if inadvertently. I really was not trying to stick up for anybody. Mbo is perfectly capable of doing that at any time he decides it makes sense to, and I'm not his mom. I wrote what I did in this thread because what was being said was personally hurtful to me, and I said so. It's as simple as that. If that is hard to understand, I'm sorry. I said it as clear as I could. |
Subject: RE: Help: Save Max 2 From: annamill Date: 03 Mar 00 - 09:52 AM Banjer, shame. I think what she was implying, and it sounded pretty reasonable to me, was that she had worked hard too and maybe, just maybe, you should be the one to make dinner tonight. ;-) Thank you, Bert. Love, annap |
Subject: RE: Help: Save Max 2 From: Skipjack K8 Date: 03 Mar 00 - 10:07 AM Sheet, banjer, the store's gotta be more fun than you, mate! Skipjack |
Subject: RE: Help: Save Max 2 From: MMario Date: 03 Mar 00 - 10:08 AM I would agree that sometimes, even when you KNOW something is being said "in fun" and is being taken that way by the primary recipiant, that it can still be distasteful and even hurtful to "innocent bystanders" - in this case, readers of the thread. I think it's a natural reaction that after you have been shot, or hit by a ricochet, watching a shoot-out is no longer entertainment.
|
Subject: RE: Help: Save Max 2 From: Amos Date: 03 Mar 00 - 11:52 AM Well, I am truly sorry that what I said caused alarums and discomfort. But I honestly thought that what I said was funny, and did not think it would cause any pain either in Mbo or in anyone -- it never crossed my mind, Praise, that I was stepping on your toes...I didn't even know you were standing there :>). Granted it was a risque -- even lewd -- double entendre, but it was NOI (no offense intended), and I would like to feel likewise NOT (no offense taken). A |
Subject: RE: Help: Save Max 2 From: catspaw49 Date: 03 Mar 00 - 12:05 PM Uh-huh........ Well I'm glad Meebo isn't offended, never thought he was, and I'm extremely likely to go over the top again.... and to Praise and Mario et al, if this has brought up painful feelings, I understand and I apologize for that. But I lived most of my life in an environment where (insert word you use for "cutting on each other" or "cappin") was expected and expertise was a survival skill of sorts.(:<)) Sorry. .....but it'll probably happen again. Spaw |
Subject: RE: Help: Save Max 2 From: MMario Date: 03 Mar 00 - 12:18 PM I'm not jumpin' on anyone, and I agree, my humour tends to go the same direction as yours, 'spaw. But sometimes "put down" humour will trigger buttons, and you have to expect that to happen occasionally. The thing is, the buttons pushed could be on anyone.... the other danger is when it's between friends, and strangers think that the same behavior will be acceptable from them....
