Is it possible that you're thinking of Slieve Gallen (or Gallion) Braes?  If that's it, you can find it on the database; just type Slieve Braes in the Lyric Search box at the top of the page, and follow the link.

I probably learned this from President Taylor & Sid way back when. Likely they got it from the McPeakes. Thing is, what with being one single person singing, and uneducated in Tuva throat singing, and much into the ballad form, I generally don't get much into harmony - this is a rare song that screams for it, though. I recommend that version.

Totally agree about the harmony. Kathleen and Francis McPeake did this beautifully on a Topic LP (Men at Work No 3). There's also a good later version by Dick Gaughan in his Five Hand Reel days. Great song.

If you're looking for another great version of this song, check out Dolores Keane, sung a capella.

My former band, Out of the Rain, did Slieve Gallon Braes as a four part accapela song. It's one of the numbers on the soon to be released CD of excerpts from live concerts we did over the years. I believe I learned the song from the McPeake Family.

Probably a "political song", too. "It wasn't for want of employment at home... but the rents were getting higher".
