Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Slieve Montain Brae From: Abby Sale Date: 18 Mar 00 - 10:50 AM I probably learned this from President Taylor & Sid way back when. Likely they got it from the McPeakes. Thing is, what with being one single person singing, and uneducated in Tuva throat singing, and much into the ballad form, I generally don't get much into harmony - this is a rare song that screams for it, though. I recommend that version. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Slieve Montain Brae From: Terry K Date: 18 Mar 00 - 04:30 PM Totally agree about the harmony. Kathleen and Francis McPeake did this beautifully on a Topic LP (Men at Work No 3). There's also a good later version by Dick Gaughan in his Five Hand Reel days. Great song. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Slieve Montain Brae From: GUEST Date: 21 Mar 00 - 11:08 AM My former band, Out of the Rain, did Slieve Gallon Braes as a four part accapela song. It's one of the numbers on the soon to be released CD of excerpts from live concerts we did over the years. I believe I learned the song from the McPeake Family. radriano |
