Subject: RE: Allan and Bill in Toronto From: WyoWoman Date: 29 May 00 - 04:17 PM Hey, wait. THIS might be perfect timing for my purely hypothetical trip to Toronto. bunch a nekkid Mudcateers and Michael with a fast shutter .... My, my. Subject: RE: Allan and Bill in Toronto From: Tony Burns Date: 01 Jun 00 - 09:39 PM Refresh. I'll do this every 2 or 3 days until we get close to Bill and Allan's visit in case some people missed it the first time around. |
Subject: RE: Allan and Bill in Toronto From: balladeer Date: 02 Jun 00 - 06:41 AM I'm sure everyone south of TO is welcome at Tony's, even if they dress for the occasion. |

Subject: RE: Allan and Bill in Toronto From: Tony Burns Date: 06 Jun 00 - 12:18 PM Refreshing.... 12 days and counting. Aside from Bill and Allan I wonder who might be traveling the farthest to attend the Toronto event? (I have heard from someone that surprised me due to the distance but I'm not going to name names. Maybe someone from even farther away will turn up.) |
Subject: RE: Allan and Bill in Toronto From: Willie-O Date: 06 Jun 00 - 02:10 PM I really had hoped to make it to your party, but there are family obligations taking me Stateside that weekend. Damn. Willie-O |
Subject: RE: Allan and Bill in Toronto From: Lonesome EJ Date: 07 Jun 00 - 12:34 PM Allan here. We can hardly wait, Tony. This will be my first time north of the line (except once when I got lost on a jeep trail in northern Montana, but that's another story). It'll be great to put some faces with the names and to hear some of the music I have heard so much talk about. Oh, and WW, we really must discuss that groupie thing tonight ;-] |
Subject: RE: Allan and Bill in Toronto From: GUEST,Ian Stephenson Date: 08 Jun 00 - 10:58 AM If anyone sees bill then could you say hi from me, please! Also tell him that the 422 CD release is delayed so we can't send any over just yet. Cheers, Ian Stephenson |

Subject: RE: Allan and Bill in Toronto From: Tony Burns Date: 10 Jun 00 - 06:58 AM Refresh. Eight days to go. (Oh lordy, I'm going to have to vaccuum.) |
Subject: RE: Allan and Bill in Toronto From: bbelle Date: 10 Jun 00 - 09:45 AM Tony ... no need to vacuum ... Allan wields a mean Hoover ... and Bill ... oh, Bill will provide the music by which to Hoover ... moonchild |
Subject: RE: Allan and Bill in Toronto From: Rick Fielding Date: 10 Jun 00 - 12:24 PM Wow! J Edgar Hoover will be there? Does that mean it's "formal dress"? |
Subject: RE: Allan and Bill in Toronto From: catspaw49 Date: 10 Jun 00 - 12:31 PM Doesn't sound like much fun to me Rick. If he shows up, things might be a real drag. Spaw |
Subject: RE: Allan and Bill in Toronto From: bbelle Date: 10 Jun 00 - 10:35 PM So ... the uniform of the day (old Navy lingo picked up from my father) will be dresses and heels for the ladies and dresses and heels for the men. That way, no one will be jealous of what the other is wearing. I'll be more than happy to give individualized makeup and hair tips ... perhaps a hearme session, where you can ask your questions and I can analyze your "colors." Hair and eye color will be the determining factors ... if you don't have hair an exact skin color would be helpful. moonchild arden |
Subject: RE: Allan and Bill in Toronto From: GUEST,"Boy Eddie" Hoover Date: 10 Jun 00 - 10:56 PM Thank you so much for your offer of help. I've very little hair and I would describe my coloring as gray pallor with a tinge of rot. That was of course before my death. I have no idea what I look like now, but from the heat in this place I must have picked up a reddish tint at least.
|
Subject: RE: Allan and Bill in Toronto From: bbelle Date: 10 Jun 00 - 11:08 PM You are obviously a "winter" and should stick to cool colors and grays and winter whites. If you must wear red, blue red would be the best ... keep it away from your face ... it will make you look swarthy. moonchild arden |

Subject: RE: Allan and Bill in Toronto From: GUEST,Peter T. Date: 12 Jun 00 - 04:39 PM O.K. Tony, time to limber up. how's the vacuuming going? How many are we looking at (clothed or un), and what kind of supplies should we be supplying? yours, Peter T. |
Subject: RE: Allan and Bill in Toronto From: catspaw49 Date: 12 Jun 00 - 04:42 PM Peter, I sense an element of the predictably unpredictable here or maybe the unpredictably predictable. Then again, maybe its just gas. Spaw |
Subject: RE: Allan and Bill in Toronto From: sophocleese Date: 12 Jun 00 - 05:28 PM Rather predictably, Spaw, its just gas, or spontaneous combustion. |
Subject: RE: Allan and Bill in Toronto From: MK Date: 12 Jun 00 - 05:34 PM Who of the Toronto and surrounding area Mudcatters are planning to attend on the 18th? I'm just curious, and, trying to decide whether to wear a gold lame and spandex jumpsuit, a white and checkered leisure suit or just a bathrobe with a well worn out ass in it...as comfort is very important to me, and I do want to "blend in". *BG* |
Subject: RE: Allan and Bill in Toronto From: catspaw49 Date: 12 Jun 00 - 05:49 PM Why not come as Clyde Tolson so "Boy Eddie" will feel at home? Spaw |
Subject: RE: Allan and Bill in Toronto From: bbelle Date: 12 Jun 00 - 06:22 PM Y'll are just getting so overexcited about this whole gathering! As a veteran of two and a half gatherings, it is all so simple ... you invite a bunch of people ... you put the food out and they'll eat it ... you put the drink out and they'll drink it ... you put the instruments out and they'll play it. No muss ... no fuss! They will play standing, sitting, lying prone, or propped up. They will play until the sun rises, the roosters crow, and the cows come home. They will play in the same clothes for three days if the guitar riffs aren't long enough. They will sing on-key, off-key, and under-key, and above-key. And ... if there is a lull in the action ... bring out the little Mary Kay trays with mirrors and little dabs of eyeshadow, lipstick, and rouge, and you can take turns "doing your faces." I understand that the "Eddie & Clyde" look is in this season ... moonchild arden |
Subject: RE: Allan and Bill in Toronto From: Alice Date: 12 Jun 00 - 07:48 PM Allan here: You guys are getting a little far out for my sensibilities. We may have to rethink this Toronto thing...Oh, wait! Banjo Bonnie will be there, right? Well, then simply ignore the previous sentence! We will be there! Heck, we might even be early! |
Subject: RE: Allan and Bill in Toronto From: bbelle Date: 12 Jun 00 - 08:16 PM Don't worry, Allan, I've already given them your color choices for makeup, etc. moonchild arden |
Subject: RE: Allan and Bill in Toronto From: mjm Date: 12 Jun 00 - 08:50 PM Allan (are you still there) I sent you an e-mail to Tony Burns' address and also to the Copy Center. Thanks for all the stuff... m |

Subject: RE: Allan and Bill in Toronto From: Tony Burns Date: 13 Jun 00 - 04:07 PM All this excitement! I've heard from a number of people so I assume they will be here. There are a few more that I wrote to that I didn't hear back from. I expect one or two of them to show up. If I had to guess I'd say 11 but it could easily be twice that. This is not a Mudcat exclusive thing so if a Mudder wants to bring a guest or two that's fine. I can't help by suggesting what people bring that's the fun of a pot-luck. Like I said in my message to those who expressed interest "If we end up with nothing but hummus so be it." Bring what you think folks would like. There is no dress code. Wear what you like or what comes to hand when you roll out of bed. The long range forecast still only goes to Saturday but the sun is peeking out of the graphic so it looks like things will be nice on Sunday. I'd like to be able to spend as much time as we can in the yard but if we have to be inside we'll get by ok. I've had close to 30 folks here for song circle. See y'all at noon Sunday. |
Subject: RE: Allan and Bill in Toronto From: Tony Burns Date: 14 Jun 00 - 10:34 AM The long range weather forecast now includes Sunday. They are predicting a mix of sun and cloud. Things are looking good. |
Subject: RE: Allan and Bill in Toronto From: Davey Date: 14 Jun 00 - 12:50 PM I'm goint to try to be there as well Tony. Looking forward to meeting some new people and renewing old acquaintances, and making some good music. |

Subject: RE: Allan and Bill in Toronto From: Tony Burns Date: 17 Jun 00 - 07:51 AM 32 hours left to vaccuum and dust! |
Subject: RE: Allan and Bill in Toronto From: Little Neophyte Date: 17 Jun 00 - 07:59 AM Tony don't forget to make sure there are extra toilet paper rolls in the bathroom. All that organizing of your papers, clothing and stuff, don't bother, just shove it all in the closet. Bonnie |
Subject: RE: Allan and Bill in Toronto From: Crowhugger Date: 17 Jun 00 - 08:51 AM Wow, housework for Allan & Bill. They can feel honoured. CH. |
Subject: RE: Allan and Bill in Toronto From: bbelle Date: 17 Jun 00 - 08:55 AM ... Another good place to hide stuff is in the oven ... just make sure it's not flammable, in case someone turns on the stove. Then there's the shower ... pull the shower curtain, it will look nicer. In closets, under the bed, behind the sofa ... are all good places, too. martha stewart All kidding aside ... I hope y'll have a great time tomorrow. I've known these two men for a while, now, and I can assure you of a great experience. They're both very easy-going and, believe me when I say ... they won't notice a bit of dust! moonchild

Subject: RE: Allan and Bill in Toronto From: GUEST,Peter T. Date: 17 Jun 00 - 08:55 AM Tony: remember Quentin Crisp: after three years the dust hardly increases at all. It settles down into neat piles. yours, Peter T. |
Subject: RE: Allan and Bill in Toronto From: Big Mick Date: 17 Jun 00 - 09:44 AM Allan here. Good grief! I have seen fewer preparations for the coming of a president! We are both flattered and honored. Truth is that I really love that you guys are doing all this. I have loved it throughout the trip. It is simply a reflection of the friendly, hospitable folks you are. We have been truly amazed by the efforts of our many hosts. People all along the way have given of what they had to make our visits comfortable and pleasant. Some, who I know for certain have had little to spare, have shared what they had with us without hesitation. We sincerely hope that at each stop, we have given enough in return. Allan C. |
Subject: WEATHER UPDATE From: Crowhugger Date: 17 Jun 00 - 10:21 AM It's always a nice enough day for music! CH.

Subject: RE: Allan and Bill in Toronto From: Alice Date: 17 Jun 00 - 10:49 AM Allan, you and Bill can come back ANYTIME. Is next summer too soon? Regarding housework, folks, even my storage room was cleaned for this visit, and it's a good thing, too. Wayne slept on the floor in there. I just wish my yard had shown off more blooming flowers. We wandered around looking at little spots of garden, the mutating columbines, the antique sweet peas, but it is too early in the season for much to be showy. Hey, guys, I forgot to tell you the story of digging all the flat stones out of the grass of my yard and hauling them in a toy wagon to build the rock garden in back of a the garage.... and how the telephone company killed my weeping birch... Anyway, folks, it is fun to show and tell in real life where we live, so Bill and Allan can picture us as we are at home when we communicate over the Mudcat. Alice |
Subject: RE: Allan and Bill in Toronto From: BlueJay Date: 17 Jun 00 - 04:26 PM Tony Burns- DUST?? If I were you, I'd wait until after they leave, when the dust actually settles. My wife, Tammy, worked hard to just try and keep the house up for their visit. Hard, with the kids. Bill and Allan are very un-demanding. In my house, they stepped over kids, pets and toys the whole time without a grumble. I don't think they are going to worry about a little dust on the secretary. I know it made a big impression on Katherine, age 9, when Bill gave her a big hug before they left. Wish I'd had my camera handy. ENJOY your visit, don't fret about appearances. I know our Mudcat Diplomats aren't giving it a lot of thought. BlueJay |
Subject: RE: Allan and Bill in Toronto From: Tony Burns Date: 17 Jun 00 - 06:38 PM Thanks to everyone for the advice. No more cleaning!
Attention attendees...If the pile of stuff looks like it might contain something fragile please step around it. If the dust makes you sneeze, please step outside. Only pay attention to the music and friendship. All else is illusion. The basket in the bathroom contains extra toilet paper. My job is done. Now the waiting begins. |
Subject: RE: Allan and Bill in Toronto From: Alice Date: 17 Jun 00 - 07:22 PM Tony, all you need to prepare at this point, if you have not already, is enough film for your camera, plenty of blank cassette tapes to record the fun, and batteries for your tape recorder, if necessary. |
Subject: RE: Allan and Bill in Toronto From: Crowhugger Date: 17 Jun 00 - 07:46 PM Oh, Alice, thank you for mentioning blank tapes! Time to start a list methinks. Tony, if the waiting's too much, you can come and clean my place. BTW, Tony, Mom can't come. Too bad, 'cause she's been practising and I haven't. Is Davey bringing his mandola? A month of trying not to get too excited too soon came to an end today. I CAN'T WAIT!!! (sorry for shouting, but it's a HAPPY shout!)
